- Helpful Harry. replies to kristinThere are laws protecting peoples privacy. FDCPA states that no personal info can be given to anybody except Spouse. Or, if debtor gets the collector on the phone, and gives permission. Would you like somebody just giving out your information to anybody who calls claiming to be your friend, or boyfriend?? It's actually a good thing. Besides, all you need to give the collector is the last 4 digits of his ss#. They already have it anyway, they're just checking to make sure that "you" have it. Good luck.
- austiniteThe very rude lady demanded I give her information regarding a family member and wouldn't identify themselves properly. She would only said this is a business call and her first name only of Charlene. I told her I couldn't help her and she threatened to call again tomorrow morning.
- You are delerious. replies to They are fantastic| 1 replyAbsolutely delerious. Why would you think it is difficult for me to look in a mirror. Do you think that I am like you?
Most definitely not. Keep doing your "job". LOL - Anon replies to hey nowIf they do not have a legitimate claim, inform them that you are filing a complaint with the Attorney General. You can google both the federal and state AG (Pennsylvania) in this case.
Also, send them a written notice that if they do not stop calling you will sue them under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
A lot of these lower class type companies seem to get hold of old loans from college days and such whose statue of limitations have long since expired and try to collect on them. So just do the above and if they continue to call you can sue them and buy a new car. Of course, they know what they are doing is illegal so they will stop calling. - anon2And even if the debt is legit, there are regulations that debt collectors have to follow so if they are rude, abusive, threatening, etc... file a complaint with the Attorney General.
There's usually some good information here:

- Anonym replies to hey nowThe folks at Silver and Associates crossed the line when they convinced my father and my employer that my husband was writing bad checks in my name and that I was about to go to jail. (all lies...) They were very rude, etc. etc. and obviously lying, so I tried to contact the attorney general of Washington state where I live. They gave me a phone number for "Legal Helpers" which is a law firm that deals with violations of collection law. I didn't have to pay a dime up front, the calls stopped, and Mr. Silver had to dish out $3000.00. (of which I recieved $1250.00) These people know that they are breaking the law, but it is worth it to them because most people are not aware that they have rights. I recommend Legal Helpers. They were very nice and it made me feel a lot better to do something!
PS. This is not an add for Legal Helpers. They really did help me. Maybe if enough people sue Rick and Brett Silver it will change how they do business. Maybe not. Worth a try!
Legal Helpers: 312-467-0004 - LYSCalls repeatedly asking for "Liza." I tell them each and every time there is no one here by that name, never has been. We have had the same phone number for the past 35 years. Rudely, they hang up on me and call again later or the next day . . . and we are on the "do not call" list!

- MackAn extremely unprofessional, rude, and "want-to-be" name Chris Anderson, had the nerve to call me several times demanding a call back in this intimidating tone of voice on my cell phone voice mail. Finally when i spoke with him he starting to review my existing credit report with me when I asked him what the call was in regards to. He finally tells me about the purpose of his call, and when i question why he is calling me when the original lender has yet to send me anything about this debt, he starts to compare my current credit history with his own personal belittling remarks and starts criticizing me. I lost it, cursed him out, and requested his supervisor. Of course, another nasty employee passes me to the voice mail. Supervisor never responded. After a few days he calls my relatives home in another state. I am now seeking charges against this company within the FCRA & FDCPA. This company is out of control

- Former Employee replies to bob, fred and frank| 1 reply...and regardless of what 4 didgit number you put in, you will not be connected to anyone. I get calls asking for one of my former employees from two years ago. They are rude and unprofessional, and they never believe me.
- SnowbabePaul from NCB Management called my landlord and left a message that he was trying to get a message to me about my mother. He knew her name, my name and my address, and my landlords name and phone number. When I asked him what this was regarding he said it was a personal matter. This company said they found this information by running a search using her social securtiy number. It's scary to know that all this information is out there for a company, or anyone for that matter, to use. While talking to him this man said he has called my mother's ex-husband (they've been divorced 11 years), my brother, former employers, neighbors, etc. If it such a personal matter why is this man calling everyone under the sun and harrassing them to get a message to my mother...My point being that they are ruthless and rude! I would like to know if anyone had ideas about how to stop them?

- Mr SmithCaller called my home phone, left message, and identified self as "Ms. Reed" looking for my ex-spouse (actually, just used her name XXXX). Said it was urgent and that there were some 'options'. Caller stated that I did not respond to her letters. Caller asked that I call her back at 800-828-1110 x 1855 and to reference my file # when I call back which was my phone number.
***Caller also called another relative of mine, not my ex-spouses, and left same message***
Once I called back, Ms. Reed asked who I was and I immediately asked that she identify herself since she called me first. She told me that she works for a company that deals with many 'contracts' and refused to tell me her company name, instead kept asking for my name and number which I did not immediately give to her. I advised that I have not been married for 5+ years to whom they were seeking and to stop calling me. I told Ms. Reed the name of my ex-spouse and she told me that she needs to speak with her and that "it's urgent." Ms. Reed advised that her 'research department' got my name and home telephone number. I asked that she never call me again and I gave her my home phone number and she then knew my name and address. I was advised that this matter did NOT involve me and ONLY my ex-wife.
The other relative that was called, my XXXX, called me within minutes of me hanging-up with Ms. Reed. Ms. Reed left the same message to which my relative called back after first calling me and asking why they were called by "National Credit" at dinner time. Ms. Reed was dismissive with my relative and said "Don't worry about it, we spoke with XXXX" to which my relative asked Ms. Reed to tell them who they were and why they were calling. Ms. Reed replied that it is a matter between my ex-spouse and them. My relative asked how they got their number, to which Ms. Reed replied "it's the 21st century!" Not satisfied, my relative asked again how they got in touch with them since the number is unlisted, isn't any longer a relative, and relative has a different last name. Ms. Reed repeated that "it's the 21st century!" and identified my relative by name, number, and address without my relative giving it to Ms. Reed. My relative asked to speak with a manager, and Ms. Reed said "fine, he's a Jewish Male and I'm African-American". My relative inquired what race had to do with this and asked for the manager AGAIN. My relative was then hung-up on.
This is a shady, deceptive way to collect debts by calling other previous known relatives and I want the calls to stop and inform you of the practices that this company engages in.
