    RE: (216) 393-9241
I received a phone call yesterday from this number, saying that I had a warrant out for my arrest for civil and criminal charges - charges that I know I did nothing to receive. The man I spoke with was intimidating and psychologically manipulative, urging me to settle out of court, in order to avoid having the state marshal sent to my door and any court time and fees. I was hoping anyone who has received a call from this number could tell me how they got these people to stop harrasing me, as well as where to officially report them.

My children recieved a phone call from Mike Waldes stating that there is a warrant out for my arrest, and that he would see me in court.  Firstly i have never took out a loan from Visa.  Mike could not anwser any of my questions, he kept harassing me.  He was very rude.  Did not want to let me speak to his supervisor.  This is a scam, and is fraud.  I will be reporting this person to the State Attorney Generals Office...........................................................................................

I received a harrassing calling himself John Rogers who insisted he was going to send an officer after my brother for malicious intent to fraud.  This is no more than harrassment of someone eles's bill.  I will sue this man if he calls again.  He tried to make me believe he was an investigator for the police, which is impersonating a police officer and gave me a bogous case summons number.

Yeah, My parents received a call from these fn idiots, my parents are in there 70's, this guy threaten to send my mom to jail for 3 years if she didnt pay back a loan from 4/1995, he called it malicious intent to fraud and that they were willing to settle out of court for $500 all he needed was her full social security and a credit card # to charge the charge off. My mom who has health problems cried and pleaded with the man and tried to get more info about the charge, all he said was she better pay it now or they would serve her with a warrant.  When she wouldnt give info even after hearing her cry and plead, he told her she refused her right and would see her in court.  Where can I go to report this?

I received a call from these guys today.  They told me that they were investigating a past due balance in my name on an account from 2000.  He said it had passed through collections and was now at the point of litigation and I was being pursued for civil and criminal fraud charges.  He did verify that he had the last 4 digits of my SSN.  I have never received notice from a collections agency on a past due balance on anything so this is bogus and I told him so.  I just joined Lifelock and have received one of my credit reports.  There's NOTHING on the report reflecting what this guy is trying to tell me.  He said if I wouldn't settle with him, they'd take me to court.  I told him to go for it.  He said I'd receive a summons in the next 24 hours.  We'll see.  Sounds like these guys make a habit of intimidation.

So my parents get a message on their machine.  The message says that I could be arrested blah blah that this was a civil matter of litigation etc...  I have not lived at the address they called for over 5 years.  So anyway I take down the "case number" and the phone # they tell me to call and I called the number.  I gave the guy the "crn"  and he pulls nothing up.  What a joke. So I gave him the phone number he or the "company" had left the message on and he pulls up my name and tell sme I'm being sued by Citibank, but I can settle out of court, which they  would of course prefer.  I knew this was a big pile of BS because no credit card company has ever given me a line of credit of $4500 dollars.  So anyway I went to www.annualcreditreport.com and printed out all 3 of my free credit reports.  After reading them of course there is nothing from citibank on them.  So to conclude it seems like this is a big scam.  Why has it gone on so long?  This is not my first encounter with these people although I'd love for it to be my last.  Calling my family pisses me the @#$! off.

    friend who was fooled
This alleged company represents that it is not opperating as a "debt relief agency" so that it would not be in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  However, it is indeed a debt collection agency, operate under the many names, such as "World Wide Assets and Revenue Investigative Service".  This company has no available address to verify the legitimacy of its operation (or to verify which debt is being pursued).  Unfortunately, the employees are very intimidating and lead people to believe that there are serious "charges" (i.e. criminal claims) against them and/or family members.  A monetary debt only becomes criminal if investigated by the district attorney's office, or other local, state or federal criminal investigative authority.  Thus, a collection agency (or a company acting under the guise of an "asset investigative service") cannot procure a warrant for monetary damages.  So, do not be intiminated by these tactics and do not offer any information.  Ask for confirmation in writing of whatever it is that the are requesting if you want verification.  Otherwise, tell the employees that they are not to call anymore and hang up!

I received a couple of calls from 216-393-9241 saying that I owed $43,000 to a credit card that I know nothing about.  The charges were done back in 2003.
I have reported them to my states district attorneys office. But I was wondering how I can go about reporting them to the Ohio Better Business Bureu?

I received a phone call from this company last month.  They said I owed money.  However, they would not provide any details of the claim.  When I asked for more information, they threaten me with a summons.  I filed a complaint to the Cleveland Better Business Bureu.  They looked into it and found out that the company is no longer in business.  However, my parents received a call from them yesterday.  I am going to give up calling the company back.  They will not give you any information.

These calls are from a criminal operation by the name of CMC Recovery that's based in Georgia. They also masquerade as working for the a law firm called "Robert Goldstein & Associates" and many other aliases. As consumer law expert Bud Hibbs notes, there is no such attorney Robert Goldstein & Associates. These people are not only breaking federal debt collection laws, they're also committing numerous other felonies (impersonating law enforcement officials, fraud, impersonating an attorney, extortion, etc.) They are criminals and you should NEVER give them any information about yourself. Ignore their calls and report them to authorities. Here's Bud Hibbs' advice on dealing with the CMC/Robert Goldstein:

    http://www.budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages/cmc_recovery_bud.htm

Remember, the only difference between these CMC/Goldstein callers and thugs on the street is that they mug people over the phone.

I suggest you and everyone else who's received these calls contact your local police, your local FBI office, and that you file a complaint online with the Federal Communications Commission at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html (The FCC enforces the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act.) Also, since this batch of calls originate in Ohio, so you should file a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General by calling 877-244-6446 or going online to http://www.ag.state.oh.us/citizen/consumer/complaints.asp

For those who file a complaint with the authorities, I suggest giving them the weblinks to the several message threads on 800notes.com that concern abuse in the 216 area code by this same group of criminals (CMC Recovery Services, Inc./a.k.a. Robert Goldstein & Associates). Here are the weblinks:
