- AlexThese asshats have called me 2x on my cell phone asking for someone I do not know. I harass them by mimicking their accent. They must like the verbal abuse because they stay on the line an awfully long time. I admit that it's mildly catharthic, it's awesome to just yell at someone for a half an hour, while they plead with me to be "more polite".
I don't have any debts or outstanding bills. It's a crime that bill collectors can call anyone they want to in order to track down a debtor. - MarieI work in a call center at a CU in San Diego I have gotten calls twice from this number through our general call center number (not my personal line) and it is always just classical music playing in the background, no one responds.
- Caller: Unknown
- MelCalled on my work cell which I don't give out to hardly anyone. Went to voicemail but only heard classical music playing.
- SanHave rec'd numerous calls over the last week at different times of the day. Until last night, they never left a message. Last night they left a message saying that they were attempting to collect a debt and any information they received would be used only for that purpose. We don't have any bad debts. Is this a scam to get personal information?

- dragnmommaIf this is NCO, these wingnuts call me from an 866 number usually. Just got this number on my cell and found only an unpublished land line for Philly using the white pages reverse lookup. Googled it and found this site. They (NCO) had called 30 minutes previous using the 866 number. I thought any kind of debt collectors were restricted to so many calls a week, not 5 or so a day! And on Sundays and holidays!

- Savage BansheeCalled twice, threatened action against them via FTC both times. Gave them 555.1212 number for the person they were looking for --someone I do not know, I smell pretexing and phishing scam pattern here-- and they uh apparently bought that, and actually wrote it down.
Will likley pretend to cooporate with them so I can garner some information to use against the parent company when I sue them for each and every violation of the FDCPA. I see from this thread that the deep pockets are likely JP Morgan Chase.
Sounds like a good old American company to have my attorney let loose on!
I think more folks should feed them this line from Seinfeld while they play with them for violating our rights:
"Oh, gee, I can't talk right now. Why don't you give me your home number and I'll call you later."
"Uh, sorry, we're not allowed to do that."
"Oh, I guess you don't want people calling you at home."
"No."
"Well, now you know how I feel."- Caller: 267-519-440

- janieWhen I first got this call on my caller ID it had 1-011- in front of the number
so i didn't answer and they have been calling since without the 1-011 in front
of the number. I haven't answered it, I'm thinking it some prince in a far away
land that needs me to cash a check or some scam like that. I also don't
think it is a debt collector because all my accounts are current. hmmmm - linda selbyReceived a call from this number looking for someone who hasn't lived at this residence in over 20 years. How do I report this number to the appropriate federal agency? It appears from my searches that the number belongs to NCO Financial. No idea why they would be calling.
- Caller: appears to be NCO Financial
- Michigan-Matt| 1 replyI answered the call and found it was, indeed, NCO Financial. There was no prerecorded message; it was a live male caller from the get-go. He asked for my name, social security number, the telephone number of my nearest kin, my employer's number, name and address and other information before he would tell me where he was from and who he was with... English was not his native language --it could have been a call originating in a [***] country. He told me his name was Steve Smith... I asked where he was calling from and he said "I'll ask the questions here."
After I told him my name, I asked for more specific information about why he was calling. He said he couldn't talk about that until I was able to verify who I was by matching his information about my social security number, employer, etc...
I told him that was a no-go. He then yelled at me about paying my debts and to stop being a free-loading, ungrateful, irresponsible American.
That did it. I asked for his supervisor. He said he was unavailable and the super would call me back.
Gosh, Obama's got the world believing all Americans are ingrates. We are so screwed by Obama's constant muslim-loving, arab apology tours. Gheesh.- Caller: "OUT OF AREA"

- KCall was from a debt collector. I'm assuming by the accent this is a call center in India. They left a message. I called back. they asked me my name and then asked if my social security # ended in 0702 which it does not. They apologized and said they were looking for someone else with identical name and said they would take my number out of their database. There is a person with the same name as me with lousy credit so I get these calls all the time.

- mThis number called me right after a guy from 703-656-9845 called. The first guy wanted me to pay him 300 for a credit account from 1989. I told him no that I did not owe him any money. He said that he got my number from the DMV. Thanks! After I told him not to call me again the other number called about 7 times in a row. They dont even have my name right.
- danYeah this is a debt collector, NCO. Yes a very rude guy.
- dan replies to Michigan-MattI had the same experience my friend. I agree with your Obama statement too.
- Caller from CACalled twice within a minutes. Left no message. The number displayed differently each time they called. Very wierd!

- cklineAfter ignoring many, many calls from this number (I knew it was NCO financial by googling their telephone numbers), I finally answered and told the man who had a very heavy accent that I had no bad debts and to quit calling me. I have no bad debts period. They had called me at all hours of the day and night.
I then called NCO financial and told them to put me on their no call list. It turns out they were looking for someone with my name, but she spelled the last name differently and lives in another state! They are just fishing and hoping to get money any way they can. I then called the Federal Trade Commission and lodged a formal complaint. If more people would do this, these people would quit their fishing and only go after valid collections.- Caller: NCO Financial
