Called on New Year's Eve!!!!  No message left, of course.  I, too, have been on the National Do Not Call List since the beginning but that only stops "legit"  telemarketers - plus there's a huge loophole that doesn't stop Political Calls, Charities and companies that claim to have a connection with a product you are connected with.  The only thing to do is buy a call block phone.  My scum bag landline telephone company only offers 12 numbers to block with their call block feature.  What a joke.  I'm buying a Panasonic call block feature phone.

My recorded message on my answering machine is that information tone the phone company plays, which is followed by a message saying the number is no longer in service. I found the recoding on YouTube. I heard that some of the robocall software that randomly dials numbers is coded to remove numbers from the scammer's calling list when it detects that information tone. If it is not a robocall, then the person on the other line will hopefully cross me off their victim's list. Time will tell whether this works or not. I am home a lot, so I can turn the answering machine on when there are unknown callers, otherwise, I leave it off. I have Caller Id, so if I am out, I just check the caller log on my phone to see if anyone I know called, then call them back.

Scammers can put any thing in the Caller Id as a name and any phone number. Sometimes they use legitimate business numbers, knowing some people look up the number. They are hoping to trick people into answering the phone, because they feel that once they got you listening, their slick tactics will convince people to give them credit card or other personal information. Sometimes they even have a name to go with the phone number they dial, so they'll call their potential victim by name to also lull them into a false sense of security. Unfortunately, there are a lot of naïve people out there that offer up their information. I saw an estimate posted on the Today Show's website back in April 2014 that stated Americans lost approximately 8.6 BILLION dollars due to phone scams in a year's time.  As long as these scum bags make money, they are going to keep doing it, and apparently they can do it without fear of prosecution, since there are too many of them and not enough law enforcement to shut them down.

Nice sounding lady with American accent said she's with Senior Benefits.  She asked how I'm doing today.  I answered 'Hi!'. She responded 'That's good.  I'm having a great day myself.'. Since I was eating, I just hung up after hearing that.  Maybe she thought I said 'High!'

This number called my home line at 10:03 a.m.  The person was too "stoopid" to realize that my answering machine picked up and not me.  So, I guess thinking a sucker (oops, I mean a live person was on my end), she said "This is Ashley with Senior Benefits.  How are you today?"  Then, followed by a surprised "Hello?  Hello?"  Then she finally hung up ...

Same thing as above == asked to be removed last week....
Guess they don't honor not only DNC but their own policies as well.

Question: Who is going to be more responsive to your request an IMPOTENT an elected federal representative or you local state senator?
Perhaps every time you get a call like this, call your local state representative to complain.  If we get enough people to complain about these type of phone calls, perhaps the state will do something better than the impotent DNC list created by the impotent federal officials

I stupidly answered the phone and it was a woman who said she was calling from "Senior Benefits".  I just hung up the phone at that point.  I wish I could somehow send an explosive device through the phone line when these dirt-bags call!

Calls often, never leaves a message. From Marathon Fl.  ID comes up private caller. I think alot of telemarketers are beginning to use people who have private phones to do their dirty work  calling so people will answer. (Or, either listing a phone as private caller.)

If you have Comcast handling your phone service, they offer "selective call forwarding". Just call forward the offending numbers to your State Rep, or better yet, forward them to one of the other offending numbers that call.....or to the FCC or to the FTC directly, let them deal with these anal warts that THEY allow to run free and irritate the rest of society.

Caller ID said FLORIDA CALL.  Suspected a telemarketer but answered anyway. No one on the line, so probably a ROBO-dialer.  Returned the call and got a polite woman who wanted to set up a meeting with a sales rep to discuss burial insurance.  I declined.  Although unsolicited and in violation of DO NOT CALL LIST rules, it was probably just a woman trying to make a living working from home.  I can accept that.  Telemarketing calls CAN BE legitimate, and even if they aren't, the callers MAY NOT be aware they are working for a SCAM.  I know young mothers who have tried telemarketing work, and they are honest.  The problem is finding an honest company to work for.
