Got call from this place too.  Unfortunately, the answering machine got it, before I could.  I hope they call back, so I can waste their time.

Have to laugh. He calls and says I have a computer virus, and the system will crash soon. I stated, WOW, really, what should I do? he instructed me to download some kind of software to fix the problem.
I asked what kind of problems will I have, and what i should do, keeping him on the line for a good 5 minutes.
Finally, I asked him... (wait for it...)

    "Does it work on Linux?"

    He promptly hung up.
    Problem solved.

Blocked this guy's call after receiving his first call and checked him out on this and similar sites without answering.  Thanks, all for taking the time to comment here.  (BTW, I learned recently that many people don't know that their cordless phone has a "block call" feature.)   It's usually under the CID menu.

The way I usually handle these nuisance callers is to politely tell them that the person they are calling (me) recently passed away in a tragic accident.  I introduce myself as "my" brother, in town for the funeral.  The usual result is that they offer to pray for me.  I figure, "Well, it can't hurt!" -- and while they're talking to me, they're not bothering someone else, plus, since I'm "dead" they take me off their list.  Works every time.

Yes, I got the guy. Definitely an Indian; his accent was similar to some of my colleagues from Madras. I googled this page and learned it was a scam (although it was pretty obvious), told him he was a crook and probably a member of Al Qaeda (just to razz him), and hung up. He called me back and swore at me. It was very gratifying to know I ruined his day, since it seems he's ruined so many of yours. Smeagol always helps!

Just received a call from this 309-474-0863 number. Pretty much same story about Microsoft Windows etc. I played along for 10 minutes and then I let loose with a profanity laced tirade and hung up. Previous messages state that this person would call back, but I waited with no such luck. Do not give control of your PC to this idiot! I just wish the good guys would win once and catch this slime of a person.

Some Indian or Pakistani thief claiming he was a client for Microsoft and calling to tell me that my computer had been compromised and that they had been alerted. Same old B.S. different year. They have called me numerous times with this moronic scam. If you are weak and fall for their ploy they will direct you to go to your PC and connect to their website under the guise of "fixing" your machine.

It's all bogus. Do not fall this old scam! They may encrypt your hard drive so you cannot access it until you pay them money for a key, or load a virus onto your machine. Their only aim is to steal you money & personal information!

I received a call from this number this morning. I answered by saying 'hello' several times before he finally answered. He introduced himself as 'George Williams', and then continued to give a spill about 'Windows'..and blah blah blah. I just said "NO THANK YOU!", and hung up. I thought to myself, Williams? Ah, I don't think so! He did have a strong accent and it was obvious it was one of those type of calls, a scam. I just feel for the people that let scams like this get the best of them. Don't entertain them!!!

I sure wish that the technology gurus would come up with software that would allow us to block all calls from outside of the US. I don't know anyone in any other country that I want to hear from.  We have all kinds of apps for things we don't need/want and  it would be nice to have one that would screen us from all of the overseas spam calls.  I for one would pay for the service.
