- in north carolinascam or something, girl leaving voicemail
- NH| 1 replyReceived a call on my work cell phone, I did not answer but got a voicemail from a woman. The first part of the message was cut off but she said she could cut my payments in half and since I am only making the minimum payments on my credit card this should be good news to me. Then she said it was a courteous call and it was the last time she would be calling. She asked me to return her call at 800 310 2148. I don’t have any credit cards or other outstanding debt so I knew it was a scam. Do not call back this number!

- bENT Trading Cards replies to FrankI had the same call 2 mins ago. Front part of message was cutoff, sweet sounding woman, "able to cut your rates" blah blah. Left a number to call 800-310-2148. I never talked to this woman and I don't make min monthly payments on anything. Beware.
- MWCould be just coincidence but I recieved this less than 24 hours after applying for a few store/credit cards. I hope "upstanding" companies aren't selling information to this scum.

- DebI received a call from this number and they were soliciting a credit card

- CornCountry replies to CarlYep, I got half a voicemail as well: 4:04pm eastern time.
- CornCountry replies to Frank| 1 replySame exact thing happened to me. When I called 800-310-2148 a recorded voice said to push #1 to get off of the phone list. I didn't realize I was on one. (The voicemail that was left made it sound like I owed money. So not true). Be careful, this is "phishy."
- CornCountry replies to Ava-BelleIf you call 800-310-2148 it will ask you to push #1 if you want off the calling list.
- CornCountry replies to NHExact same story to the "T."
4:06pm eastern time - Toni TI just received the same call 2:48 pm cst only half of the message came acrossed from a woman claiming that she could help lower my interest rate to 1% especially since I only make the minum payments anyway. She asked me to call her back at 1-800-310-2148 as well. This call came to me at my work directly to my desk's direct line. Not quite sure how they got that number.
- AnotherHigginsI got a call from this number at 4:50 PM EST on June 8, 2010 on my office line.
After answering, there was a brief pause, then a faint click, followed by a recording that was clearly meant to sound like a live person. A male voice started off with, "Hey, guy, this is Rick. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. [Blah blah blah] credit card [blah blah blah]".
Just to be sure I said, "This is a recording, isn't it?" Yep, "Rick" didn't skip a beat in his spiel.

- IphoneuserI got this message while I was at work. I was surprised to see an almost minute long message on my iphone from a Forsyth, MT number. I do believe it was a phishing scam. Same scripted conversation from Madison Smith,
"Uh, Hi guys, this is Madison Smith giving you a call back. Um, we spoke last week on the phone about possibly trying to lower your interest rates and reduce your monthly payments on your credit cards. Um, I wanted to let you know that I did find a solution here. We've got a program that can lower those rates to as low as 1.5% and possibly cut your monthly payments in half. And, since you were only making the minimum payments this should be a great opportunity here for you. Um, this will be my last courtesy call so please give me a ring back today at 1-800-310-2148. Again, you can reach me toll-free here at 1-800-310-2148."
Its very sad to see how low people will go to make a dollar. What is most unfortunate is that people DO fall for this. Don't become a statistic, keep all private information PRIVATE. NO ONE will solicite you for your Bank information, PIN numbers, passwords or Social Security #. When in doubt check google. 99% of the time phishing scam phone numbers are readily available.- Caller: 406-351-4172

- MandyAnother call about mortgage and that they talked to me about lowering my interest rates.
In the voice message the girl said it was my "last courtesy call" . . . .uhhhhhh, yeah, thanks! - me.exact same message. the strange thing is it was right after I had emailed my phone number in response to a craigslist ad for a car for sale.
- BrianThis call was in regards to lowering my interest rate. I never contacted anyone for this service.
- infoBOT replies to STEPHENIEThis is a company trying to sell some sort of refinancing on credit cards through mortgage refi. They make it sound as though you have called them and they are calling you back. Why can't they just be honest so we can completely ignore them. Everyone expects the consumer to be honest and open but these companies make a profit of catching honest people in an unexpected trap. The worst part is that it only seems to get worse. Thanks to services like 800notes, perhaps we can equip more consumers with knowledge to ignore the entire telemarketing industry. I have never received a call from a number I didn't know that was ever valued.
- meghanonly got half of a message women saying :cut your cost in half, noticed you have only been making minimum payments please call back toll free at .....'" basically what i received this morning at 10:00
