Call from portfolio recovery from a debt collector who stated her name was Rhonda. They of course call several times a day. Sad part is, I could not afford to pay them even if I wanted to as I am unemployed.

In September 2010, these bottom-feeding pond scum were ordered by our state attorney general's office to identify themselves on caller ID, now I see they are back to making calls that show up with the caller as "UNKNOWN".  Wow, I was beginning to worry, as these vermin had not called at all since March 5th...that was ten days ago.

Just remember, 1)it is illegal to make this sort of unsolicited call on your cell-phone, so if they do, sue them.
Remember, 2)if the debt they are whining about is past the statute of limitations in your state, they cannot legally do anything except make endless pest calls on it.
Remember, 3)if they have not verified the debt by providing the documents, signed by you, that prove it is your debt, they have no case.
4)If they send out a fraudulent 1099-C, to the IRS, claiming they "lost" some huge amount of money on a line on a printout that they cannot verify and for which they paid maybe $50, your only obligation is to yourself:  complain to the US Postal Service for mail fraud, complain to the IRS, complain to the FTC and the FCC, and complain to the attorney general of your state. While you are at it, complain to your US Senator and your Congress critter. Those last two are probably owned by the banks and Wall St, but complain anyway. The squeaky wheel gets the oil, and if they get enough complaints, maybe they will go after this bunch of extortionists.

Unwanted call, annoying call, I do not answer any call I don't recognize on caller ID.

I get calls almost every day. I answer the phone,NEVER SAY A WORD, & hang right up. It takes 2 seconds to do this, & I will do it everytime they call, because I REFUSE to spend MY VALUABLE time talking to these jerks,

Numerous  calls from portfolio recovery. Robo calls everyday, hangs up. Harassment
Gov'ment is useless. should all stop recieving federal moneys. Fire them all. FCC usless.
Who needs a government that does nothing.

The next time they call, ask them for their address, they are going to ask you why, you don't have to answer, just keep asking for their address until they give it to you. Tell them you will deal with the original debt owner, thank them (after you get their address) and hang up.
Write a letter to the company as such

Dear Portfolio Recovery

I am writing to inform you to stop any and all calls to my home, cell and fax at the following numbers. (list the numbers)
If I receive any calls to these numbers after 10 days from the date of this letter, I will contact the Attorney Generals' Office to file a formal complaint.

Each State may call it something different, but there is someone you can contact regarding the ongoing harassment of calls. ALSO, they can not call you before 8 am and after 9 pm. These are Federal Laws and you can look them up under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. All the information is available to you.

PS Been there done that, I know the feeling.

Some credit card from Providian was paid and Portfolio scumbags buy up these accts. over and over and the debt keeps starting over with more charges added to it.
I delt with one Florida debt collector and made payments and all of a sudden they disappeared into the black hole. Another company bought the acct. and here I go again. Not this time or any other.
Bottom feeder and scum are too nice of words for these phoney companies. Big lesson learned!

You pick up your phone and blow a whistle as loud as you can, then hang up...not saying a word.

Left :21 blank voice mail (Google Voice flagged the call as spam, so my phone never rang) ... Assuming it is these buttnuggets @ Portfolio based on everyones feedback, I've added this number to my long list of blocked numbers they can no longer call me from.

What really pisses me off is the fact that these morons don't listen when you talk  I tell them the person they are looking for is not at this residence and they keep calling despite that fact. TOTAL MORONS

These people call from 6 am to 11 pm every day .They call atleast 15 to 20 times a day .They also call from 412-282-1422 (the Fl number they are using)  I have plenty more numbers they use on my caller Id .

I get these calls all the time,also they call unavailable the people that work in collections sell there souls to the devil how do they sleep at night everytime i see an obit in the paper that says collection passed away i am happy.

I just use do not disturb only my contacts can get through and leave messages

Chances are they bought an old debt of yours and it's probably beyond your states statute anyway   They can't force you to pay anything   Stick to your guns

They call, leave no message day in and day out. No idea who they are because they will not leave a message of any kind. If they were a collection agency of any kind here is what I would do.... NOTHING, never deal with this type of idiots. Only deal with the company or person you have business with.. tell them to kiss your a$$ -

They are calling a land-line, which I will now discontinue. They are saving me money by being a$$h0l3s

i hate these A%§ H~[§s.  I save there numbers under "Jerks" in my contacts and have set the ringtone to silient. Ha!

I'll be filing a complaint as well - they called after 9PM. And I have no outstanding or old debts to pay.  Looks like I'll be getting some money from them.

I get calls several times a day from this number, at least two times a week. I have no debts. Years ago I received a collection call for a man I've never heard of, so I think they might be looking for him. I'd like to talk to someone to clear this up, but I've read some comments on how rude they are and they just keep calling. What can I do????????
