- AnonymI am sick of these [***], they call from different number. I just added then to my block list. Download the app Mr. Number to your phone and when you block there calls your phone will only ring once and hang up on the scum bags. Good luck people.

- cateOMG, I thought they had forgotten me -- they have not pestered me since 3-23-12 -- a whole week ago! This is call #178 since their lawyer sez they "decided to cease collection efforts" on an unverified debt they have never proven is mine, nor that it even exists. That was in September, 2010.
The Attorney General's office had ordered them to show who they are in the caller ID, but with this number, it seems they are going back to their furtive, underhanded practice of calling with UNKNOWN showing. Guess it's time to start another complaint file at the Consumer Protection office with our attorney general. And to check in with the FTC again, as well. Apparently, the PRA bottom feeding pond scum are one of the leading contributors to the data base of offenders at the FTC. Maybe they will be sued next by the Feds. We can only hope.- Caller: Portfolio Recovery Ass.

- EmmaI see this is Portfolio Recovery, though I am not surprised. The Caller ID said "Unknown Name", and they called at 2:45pm yesterday, no message. I've been getting calls from this agency since July of 2011, with never any message except for one recording once that said, "This is in regards to a debt."
I have no debts. It could be someone posing as an agency to commit identity theft. I never answer it.
They call me from a different number everytime; however they are now only calling me once every 4-5 days, rather than 4-5 TIMES a day back in 2011.
I have a service on my phone that can block calls, but it doesn't work on all calls. It won't work on toll-free numbers or long distance numbers out of my area. Cell calls won't work either. I did add a couple of numbers to it, but unfortunately it isn't one of Portfolios.
Since they change their numbers all the time, it would be hard to keep them on a list.
They can call & call; I have other things I'm much more concerned about. It is their problem, the way I see it.- Caller: Portfolio Recovery

- Judy| 1 replyAm I correct that if a debt is over 7 years old that they can't collect on it? I thought that's what I had heard somewhere, I could be wrong though
- Just me replies to JudyThe statute of limitations on debt collection varies; it depends on what state you live in and on the wording of the law in that state. In my state it's 6 years after the last transaction or payment. In Virginia, it's 3 but I don't know when the clock starts. You should be able to find a list online that tells you all the details.
The 3rd party collector HAS to validate the debt and, if it is past the statute of limitations, they can ask you for payment, but, at least here in my state, they cannot sue you and get a judgement. This may be different where you are. - stupid people keep me workingJust got a phone call from this number and when they asked for a number for me to recontact them, I gave them the number above (their number on my caller id) They accepted it!!

- JMJThese scum bags have called our phones (we have two lines) using at least 4 different numbers, and most of the time, there is not a voice as these are computer-generated calls; but, on one occasion a young lady wanted to speak to my married daughter (she lives with her husband) and when I kept refusing to let her talk, saying that she does NOT HAVE ANY BUSINESS with my daughter, she stupidly came out with the fact, that seeing how I wouldn't let her speak to my daughter, she was going to terminate the call. HELL-O, moron, you called, not me. These people are in a racket that is called EXTHORTION and it is illegal. No not give them any information, but, just get their ID's, addresses, phone numbers, business and private and let them know that you are recording the telephone conversation for legal purposes. Have a Glorious Easter (April 8, 2012ad). +JMJ+ some of their #s: 702-410-7489; 407-347-6414; 518-207-3608; 412-282-1422

- Really annoyed in Canada replies to annoyed too| 1 replyThese guys called me on my work phone number that clearly states it is an office number. They also called on Good Friday, which is a statutory holiday. In Canada, collectors are not allowed to call you on statutory holidays. Does this same regulation apply in America too?
- CHARLESI have been receiving several calls from this phone number and I don't know why. My phone number is my work number and only for people I want to have my number. I don't owe this company anything and I would appreciate it very much if they would stop calling me.

- GLADYSCalls sometimes 2-3 times a day. Left a msg. A couple of days ago regarding a past due debt. This company has been calling for over 2 years off & on. Rude & nasty if answered. Tried to explain they have the wrong name! They said I was lying. Give my Social Security # so I could prove it! Don't answer at all. They also call from different areas of the states w/different #s. Started keeping lists. Must have 20+.

- Deedee| 1 replyThese people keep calling from random blocked numbers and its almost like they are spoofing them. Annoying as heck! # today was 407-347-6414 and it went directly to a hang up call.
- Caller: WINTERGRDN
- Call type: Debt collector
- phonethower replies to DeedeeI answered the phone once and they were looking for someone that had a name that I never hear of. The fustrating thing is the my last name in in my message. They know they are calling the wrong number but call anyway. I do not know anything, therefor I can not help them.
I think people are giving out random phone numbers when they do not plan on paying. - Ruthie replies to BI tell them "why don't you go back to high school, get your diploma, then further your education so you don't have to do a garbage job like this". That usually gets 'em..................8-)
