- delandman replies to andreaThere is an ingenious device called "caller id with ring control." I've used it for several years. You can program it to only allow the numbers you want to ring your phone. That way, everybody else goes to caller ID. Call them back if you want. Otherwise, no matter how many new numbers Portfolio Recovery has, they never get to ring your phone. Look for one on eBay or google it. What price would you pay for peace of mind and beautiful silence in your home? About $75!

- YvonneI staated getting calls from this number when I moved into my present apartment after getting a divorce last April 2011. I didnt answer the call cause I thought it was a telemarketer. I found out from my ex that it was a debt collection company. I dont owe them anything, so I never answer the calls. I havent gotten around to sending them a cease and desist letter, but it looks like I am going to have to do that to get them to stop calling both my cell phone and my land line. Such ass wipes!!!

- Ellen replies to G.L.J.These are scavangers and they do not care about anything that has happened to any of us. They will go to a special Hell, one where their phone rings day and night and they have to answer it every time and it is them calling themselves.

- Marina replies to catePeople people people! Pick up the phone and tell them "You have phoned my house XYZ amount of times in XYZ amount of months...that adds up to XYZ times you have harassed me. According to the FTC Fair Debt Collection Practices, you will be charged a $10,000 fine per incident of harassing phone calls" You will see the phone calls stop immediately.

They did call continuously about every month & still do..

- garanshel| 1 replyI am sick of these people, they call almost everyday. Sometimes, caller ID shows their name and number. This one shows WINTER GRDN FL and the number. I went through Bankruptcy a few years ago, they bought accounts from another company while in Bankruptcy. They are relentless. I wonder, could I sue them for undue harassment???

- DorisnBorisI got a call too, but I don't answer the phone. I know who all my creditors are, (they have properly sent letters concerning the debts). This group has not sent me any letters, so I know their efforts to collect any debt are illegal. They can just keep calling till Hell freezes over, I'm not going to answer the phone.
- Tired of the Calls| 2 repliesI don't understand why Portfolio attempts to collect on debts that have reached a State Statute of Limitations...In Oregon, there is a Limitation of 6 years for a debt to be collected. My debt is well over 6 years old and they continue to harass. Makes no sense to me. Portfolio Recovery SUCKS!!!!!!!!

- lone stranger replies to Tired of the CallsThe answer is simple - it is profitable. SOL debt sells cheaply. You don't have to be all that successful with it to make a big profit.
However, if you are CERTAIN the debt is SOL why not just send them a C&D and tell them to go pound sand? - John SmithThese people are so desperate that they are constantly inventing new numbers to call people. Advice if you don't know the number don't return the calls. If they don't leave a message then the calls must not that important. As I stated before these people will try to call on a debt that is between 10 and 20 years old which the company that originally owed the debt has written it off their books as a lost. These number is shared by two company Portfolio Recovery and Enhance Recovery one in the same company which is owned by an LLC...
