    Hello,

The 2005 Toyota Tundra is still available. It is in a good condition, no scratches, no damages, never been involved in any kind of accidents. It has a 4.7L V8 engine, automatic transmission & only 82804 miles. ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES at all and I have the clean title in hand. I'm selling it at this final price of $1,000 because my husband passed away 2 months ago (he had a heart attack) and brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it asap. I also got a new job, moved back to my hometown, and many other things have priority now, so this truck has to go. If you are interested in buying my truck, feel free to email me!

    Thank you very much,
    Emma Browne

I was online and found a 1993 Nissan SE V6 Pickup that was immaculate and I answered the add and got an email from Emma Brown, Billings Montana.  The rest of the email was word for word as described above.  Being nosy I found this page.  What's too good to be true....

A seller named Emma Brown selling Honda Accord EX $3500 on Craigslist then stated after I ask for the VIN number that she was selling it through eBay and it would be delivered to my home in 3 days and I could test drive it for 5 days I actually am still emailing her at this moment... so I will toy with her for a while.... obvious scams

Patricia Anderson, was offering a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle for 800.00 on Facebook marketplace.  I contacted her and she gave me a story about being the Army, serving with the air force. Lost her husband 3 months ago and now she is deploying...

This is my love letter from Rebecca Warren:

    "Hello,

The 2018 Honda Clarity is still available. It is in a good condition, no scratches, no damages, never been involved in any kind of accidents. only 78,000 miles. ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES at all and I have the clean title in hand. I'm selling it at this final price of $3,500 because my husband passed away 2 months ago (he had a heart attack) and brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it asap. I also got a new job, moved back to my hometown, and many other things have priority now, so, this car has to go. If you are interested in buying my car, feel free to email me!

    Thank you very much,

Her reply after I asked were she was located:

    "Hi again,

Thank you for your reply. As I explained in my previous email I was accepted for a new job and I moved to my hometown Billings, Montana. I am a regular eBay user and for this sale I decided to use their services. They won't give me any money until you receive and test the vehicle for 5 days. The vehicle is at the shipping company, ready to be delivered. We also benefit from free shipping, it will be delivered to your address within 3 days and you have a 5 days inspection period to test and inspect it. Please provide me your full name and address so I can register you as the buyer and after that eBay will send you an email with the terms and conditions, with no obligation on buying it and also they will confirm the fact that the transaction is conducted through them and I'm a legitimate seller. Waiting for your email with the requested details.

    Thank you!"

    I replied to that:
    "Rebecca,
I live in Great Falls.  I would prefer to make the purchase in person.  When and where can we do this ?  Could there be a discount because you don't have to ship it ?
    Thanks,
    Greg"

Strangely, I have not heard back from her.

So... I am retired, time on my hands, sort of a hobby I suppose.  When I find a CL ad for a car at a price that seems too good to be true,  I look for the original ad to find out where they got the photos.  I usually find it.  This time it was in California.  Rebecca's ad was in Naples, FL.  I look in the background in the photos to see if the setting matches the local they say they are in.  Like finding mid-west vegetation in the desert or vice versa.  In this case the license plate was CA and all the cars in parking lot where the photos were taken were CA.
If it is too good to be true, it is.  Don't be the victim of your own greed.
