i called it back and it said it was from direct tv

I finally got calls from Maryland.  You pick up and there's nothing.  You don't pick up and it hangs up without leaving a message.  Very annoying and if it's DirecTV doing it, shame on them for harrassing everybody with annoying hang ups.

These idiot people are calling me 2-3 times a day.  Picked up the phone once, thinking it was a legit call from a friend who's living overseas.  The voice message was in Spanish.  I'm not sure if it's an affiliate of Direct Tv or not.

Why don't you people report this # to the National Do Not Call Registry, assuming you have signed up your telephone # with them.  They have a complaint form on the web page to cover situations like this.  I report every time this happens to me, and I have never received a repeat call after reporting it.  I also paste links to several complaint boards such as this into the complaint I file, so they know that this is happening to many people.  If more people would take this kind of action, you would see more prosecutions of these people.  (they are just trying to get info from you for identity theft)
This will do more good than contacting the company that they claim to be working for.  They don't have the resources to follow up on this kind of complaint.  Our tax dollars are paying the bill for the National Do Not Call Registry to look into these situations.  Legitimate companies have to pay a stiff fine for calling #'s that are signed up with the Do Not Call Registry. And bogus companies such as this one will be prosecuted.

Called but left no message.  I eliminated some channels to save money.  I think they're calling to try and talk me into adding them back on through some temporary "promotion".  The only problem is that if you don't remember to call back and cancel after the promotion is over, you keep getting the promotional channels but they start billing you.

These people will not stop calling me, I have alerted Direct TV of their sneaky and annoying practices.  I find this company to be one of the worst and should be checked into, their practices are very read the hidden message.  I have already let them know I will never recommend this company to anyone and will never use them again.

Pick up the phone. Say nothing. Count six seconds. Hang up. You are costing them money. They'll dump you from their list.

We received a call from 410-774-8549 and the caller ID said it was from Direct TV.  The telemarketer said they were with Direct TV offering a  free promotional package for 2 months and then we would be charged.  I told the caller I did not want the promotional package, because I knew I would forget to call in 2 months and cancel and they I would be charged.  The person on the line then replied, "Then I guess you are just lazy" and hung up.   I looked up the Direct TV customer service line on the internet and filed a complaint about the call.  They offered me a $5.00 discount on my bill for 3 months and informed me I needed to file a formal complaint thru their internet site.  I reported to the customer service that I wanted them to deal with this issue.  I also told them we are looking into cancelling our Direct TV and going to Dish TV or back to cable.  I received little help from the customer service when I called Direct TV.

Get these calls from this phone number several times a day and it's a MD # that's all I know, starting to piss me off royally

These people or person calls me non-stop and never leaves a message. I am considering changing my phone number and dropping Direct tv as my cable provider at this point if these calls do not cease immediately.

When I picked up, waited several seconds, they finally said hello.  I asked who is calling and they hung up.  I suspect this is DirecTV because I recently downgraded my service.

I have received about ten calls from this number and when I answer they hang. Up. Also I once answered and asked them not to call and they cal any way

This number calls me about every 10 days or two weeks.  They do not let the phone ring very long.  It is Direct TV.  I have called them back.  They probably are not actually the DirectTV company.  I think it is a sales call company they contract with.  They are offering (usually) extra services like movie channels, or sports channls that you can get for a limited amount of trial, at a special price, etc.  I put 'unknown' in the CALL TYPE below because these calls don't fit (at least for me) into any of the catagories listed as options to select.  They are making offer, but from a company I already get service from, so I don't consider them telemarketers, just sales calls from a known company I already pay every month.

I am on the do not call list.  Do Not call this number again.  I have started reporting these numbers to our attorney general.  
There is never anyone on the other end when I answer

Caller claimed to be from a survey (Scarborough?) and asked me to call back so they could meet their deadline.  I am on the National No Call List and to my knowledge, have no connection to this organization.
