- Senior citizenI don't answer calls from area codes I don't recognize. I can tell it is a robocall when the call disconnects after 3 rings. These people are @ssholes.
- Caller: Wisconsin
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Karen RunnerI keep getting calls from this number 414-232-5011 but I'm on the DO NOT CALL list.
It says something like - congratulations you have just won a trip... and then i hang up.- Caller: I don't know!
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Wise OneTake the opportunity to get them tied up. If more people tie up their systems then they loose money. Kill them with kindness. Tell them how lucky you feel and how great the offer is. Tell them you have to get your wallet and they'll salivate!. THen put the phone down and "search". Don't laugh too loudly though...Tie them up. The longer you have fun with this and hold them on the call the greater their losses are since they are trying to scam people who don't know their game.
If more folks do this it will slowly yet effectively starve them and their resources out of business. - djnI would just like to say that as suggestion was made on this page as pertaining to the national do not call register. I have our home and cellular numbers registered, as well as my mothers. My mother and my wife and I still receive these calls regardless, as well as threatening calls from fake law enforcement officials. The only way I found is to place these callers on selective call block which only allows twelve numbers on our phone system, which isn't enough. It is a pity that we are constantly being harassed by these individuals, and like a previous person had stated that everyone should screen the calls which is good, but these simple minded people still leave annoying messages.

- TelcoITmanI find some of the remarks posted about these ‘faux telemarketer calls’ amusing. I put together a software program that has logged over 380 of these annoyance calls since 2012. Those of you that let the calls roll to your answering machine, voicemail or worse yet answered the call you have just ensured you will get another of these calls. Maybe not from the same number, but they’ve just identified your number as valid and passed it on. Most of the initial calls originate from software (aka; ‘robocalls’) – once your number is identified as active, then a person may be there on the follow up calls. If you have the capability to ‘block’ the number that called – that is the best action. If you don’t have a blocking option, keep a phone with caller ID close by and simply hit ‘talk’ and ‘off’ simultaneously. If you really want to block them – there is reasonably priced software that a layman can install. Of the 380 calls I’ve blocked, only 16 have been in the last 6 months. So the message is simple – blocking works….

- CJ| 1 replyHow can they get my cell phone number when I only give it out to family? Did someone somehow steal the numbers from a family member's cell phone? I don't get it. How can they get the number if I never give it out? Just a robocall chance coincidence? Why don't these people get real jobs?
They called the cell phone; I did not answer. Creeps. - Tamianth replies to CJIts like this, all they do is plumb the numbers in to a dialer or computer and start calling. It does not recognize unlisted or numbers not given out. It will simply dial numbers from 1-999 etc.
Consider looking t see if there is a call blocking app that will work for your cell phone. There are many free ones online. For landlines consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
