I have received 10-12 calls over the past two weeks, calling early morning to late at night and during working hours. I have asked "Microsoft" repeatedly to stop calling me as I clearly am not "Mr. Kumar". I have told the caller this many times and my voicemail states who I am. I have gotten rude at this point and they have yet to change the number. Poor Mr. Kumar has got to be so mad he doesn't receive this information.

The number itself is legit (Microsoft support), but scammers often spoof their number to this legit number. If you get a call from this number after opening a support case, it's Microsoft. If you get an unexpected call from this number, it's a scammer.

This is  Microsoft Corp.  I had called yesterday their 800 number service requesting info on the Surface Pro4 for my daughter, the lady told me would be calling me at 11am today and she did, they are giving a 10% discount for students. Schools are listed on their site by State or zip codes.

You cannot trust the caller ID on an incoming call. Caller ID spoofing (faking) can make the ID say anything the caller wishes it to say.

I had gone to the Microsoft main site and from there went to their Technician Chat line. The tech set up a chat and then took about 5 yours to fix my problem. (My start window wouldn't work on windows 10. I agreed to buy their 365 day service so he told me to go to the Microsoft site and update my billing data. He gave me a link for that and it led me to Microsoft's accounting folks. But then when I came back to the chat line he had another URL ready for me to click. I did not click it. So then he called me on this number and asked me for my credit card data. I told him I never gave anyone that data over the phone and to go to Microsoft's accounting office to get it. He argued for awhile and gave me the usual "do you want to speak to my supervisor" line and then gave up. He then sent me an email from Microsoft giving me a case number for the work he has done. So perhaps that is why some people think this number is a scam and some think it is a legitimate Microsoft number. Microsoft needs to check the people they are using for this service. My tech was named Ira c.

I got a call from this number in response to a support question I had for Microsoft Office 365.  Not knowing who it was, I didn't answer, but they left a legitimate message.  So at least at times, this can be a legitimate number, although I'm sure it's from overseas.

This is a legitmate Microsoft number.  (I have a support case open with them currently.)  However, you should not engage these folks unless YOU initiate the contact to Microsft.  Anyone can spoof a incoming number on your phone's screen now, so if you weren't expecting a call from Microsoft like I was, it's the "microsoft" scammers trying to sneak their way into access to your PC & to your bank account/credit card.
