- Mik replies to LuzReceived 8 calls from 3:30 am until 11:00 am, I am disabled, hit by a SUV last year, my father had emergency triple bypass, the wounded caring for the healing wounded. This is a Microsoft Scam to obtain enough information to access your computer, do not say 1 word to them. If they are recording you and you at the word "YES" it can be used against you as a scam because when you say YES your recorded YES means you just purchased a 3.7 million dollar mansion in Belize. THINK PEOPLE, DO NOT TALK!!!
- meLegit number. Had a problem with software update on Win10 Cell Phone update. MS directed me to B2X for warranty repair. B2X sent the phone to Palco for repair. Palco claimed the phone was dropped in water. It was never contacted by water while in my possession. Palco said contact B2X to get authorization to proceed with repair. After a couple online chats with B2X my claim was escalated. This is the number MS called me on. If you missed the call, do not call back. MS automated system is worthless.
425-635-2970 really is Microsoft Support.- Caller: Microsoft Corporation
- microsoftsupporterbutWhat happened to rebuilding America? Bill Gates should hire Americans to provide phone support on Microsoft Software. Am I right or am I right? We should have to guess if someone in India is trying to scam us when we preferred to scammed by Americans!
Ask not what Microsoft can do for you but what you can do to stop scammers. Do NOT let anyone remote access your computer....- Caller: MICROSOFT CORP
- VikkiThey phoned me and identified themselves as microsoft following up on a call I had made. It cost me $10.80 to phone them back. Thinking I was dealing with microsoft, I let them take control of my laptop. I still don't know what they did. Very scary.
- DLSReceived call - no message
- TJThe call I received WAS real. It was a follow-up call regarding my Bing Ads (Microsoft) advertising for my website, which I signed up for. This was not spam.
- Caller: Bing Ads (Microsoft)
- Call type: Telemarketer
- WuThe number itself is owned by Microsoft. This is the number that called back when I asked for support from the MS website. However with CID spoofing as it is, if you get a call from this number without providing your phone number to MS for some kind of support, best to ignore it. The tech I spoke to gave me a support ticket number and told me I would not be getting a follow up phone call and if I do, ask them for the ticket number. She said MS will never cold call anyone to provide support and every request for assistance is given a #. Sad when MS has to include this in their script.
- Caller: Microsoft
- mjmhave had 2 calls from Microsoft. Decided to answer the second call. Guy asked for me by name, I asked who was calling. He addressed me by name (sort of) and said he was calling from Microsoft regarding an issue i called about, even gave me a case#. I told him I didn't make any call for support on an issue, and hung up.

Just because somebody says this number is "legitimate" or "real" or something similar, Their statements may NOT apply to the call you received!
Yes,- The bad guys can spoof or fake what you see on your caller ID, and they can use "real" phone numbers to make you believe the call was from a legitimate company. https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/spoofing-and-caller-id
- Some posters in this thread may be shills for a scammy caller

- hughcalled me non-stop, from the Philippines, starting at 6:00 AM sharp, until they had woken everyone in my house up, claiming to be MICROSOFT responding to a request an email request for a phone call. The night before (before 7PM) I did give my phone number to what I believed was a request for DELL COMPUTERS tech support to call back on a brand new computer had just received the day before, and was (already) having multiple errors with while trying to get it set up. 6:00AM. That is NOT a misprint. I immediately asked for a supervisor, to tell them that is was illegal to call me that early, and surely if it was Microsoft, they would know that. Asked him to explain why Microsoft would call me back on what I said was a problem with DELL. He said it was because I submitted an email request to have them call. Evidently, as others have probably said here, it must have been some damn pop-up box which this new computer operating system (Windows 10 Pro) allowed, which I believed at the time to be a request to have someone from DELL call me back. It said the wait time was 129 minutes (it was before 7PM at the time)... but it hindsight, perhaps the extended wait time is simply part of the scam. There is so much stuff running in the background of Windows 10, who the heck can know what is really going on when you're connected to the Internet, especially before you even get the stupid thing set up. It was literally HOURS of downloading and installing updates before even getting it to see what sort of security settings should or need to be set up on it, if that would even had made a difference, as Windows 10 evidently REQUIRES you to set up an account with Microsoft with an email address. Was it an unwanted and scammy pop up box from some "paid for" Bing advertisement? Well, yes, I now think that it probably was. Is Microsoft or DELL involved or a part of it? Yeah, they undoubtedly are. Perhaps it's part of the new "bloatware" that comes pre-installed on new computers that they received compensation for. BEWARE!!!
- Caller: claimed to be Microsoft
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Falcon Feathers replies to FlemmingI used Microsoft website to request a call back to ask details about Microsoft software. I used the computer, clicked call me...and then typed my phone number. Immediately my phone rang from Microsoft. I have a caller ID, and later, checking down through calls received did not recognize the number 1-425-635-2970. I found myself here seeing all kinds of "guessing" and then saw Microsoft. Definitely is, and in my case, I forgot I had requested their call.
- Dwayne replies to FlemmingThat number is in fact Microsoft Support. I had scheduled a call-back for a Windows issue and that was their number.
- miatamanI needed Microsoft tech support and they were returning my call to help me , not a scam .
