This is one of the generic trunk numbers that outgoing Microsoft support calls go through. If you have ANY request open with Microsoft support, this would be one of the numbers via which they respond.

This number is legit Microsoft in my case, I had to sort support for my Surface, and provided my cell.  They called back, and had all my details for my surface including the warranty - guy was lovely and in the Philippines.  And MS was most helpful with my problem.
But then for some it may not be legit as the number could have been "borrowed" and hides the real number of the caller.

Two unsolicited calls from this number with no Caller ID Name displayed!  Calls were late afternoon early evening on 4-1 and 4-7.  These calls left no message and were definitely NOT from Microsoft or any of its divisions like Bing or XBox.  Many of the reports here noting it is a legitimate Microsoft support call do not sound legitimate!!!  Beware and do not allow callers from this number to have full access to your computer!!!!!!!!!

This is a legit Microsoft support number.  I am currently working with them for an Office365 issue for single-sign on authentication utilizing ADFS.  This number is NOT posted on their support page because it's for enterprise level support (you will receive this number after opening a support ticket).  I'm currently marking it as unknown since support or customer server is not listed as a Call Type option.

Ditto on Microsoft support.  They called back after I scheduled a support issue.

I'm pretty sure it is Microsoft support as I was working with them yesterday. They probably just wanted to do a follow up but, since they called at 7am I didn't answer. I also added the Hiya app last week and that has already blocked and disconnected about 5 spam calls.

This is a Microsoft number. I logged a complaint against Microsoft with the California Department of Consumer Affairs. I DID NOT WANT Windows 10 and told them NUMEROUS TIMES no and they took it upon themselves to download it anyway..

Caller ID said "Microsoft Support" and the individual identified herself as Mary, from a call earlier in the day that had gotten dropped.  I called the real Microsoft Support and the call did not drop.  I received a call from 513-874-4840 earlier in the day, claiming to be Microsoft Support and the call terminated when I told them to tell me the procedure to use, and that I would verify it with Microsoft Support.  They wanted access to my computer and I wouldn't give it.  The real Microsoft Support informed me they do not "proactively" call customers suspected of having downloaded corrupt files. That is a job for antivirus and malware software.

I can also confirm this is a legit Microsoft number. I had an issue with a computer I was setting up. I spoke with a technician who helped me get the issue resolved. This was a follow-up call to see how everything went and confirm my issue was completely resolved.

This is really (an agent working for)  Microsoft.  I was trying to setup a  free Azure trial.  5 minutes.  BS.  I spent 20 minutes trying to confirm my identity.  Given Microsoft's fraud on a credit card before this won't happen ...

    Azeem,

I had a very serious problem with MSFT charging my card three times.  To resolve
the problem I had to contact two attorneys general.  Needless to say, when MSFT
has exhibited such bad behavior regards credit cards in the past I'd be an idiot
to trust them with a credit card number again.

It is possibly someone put in David's number on a web page.  It is also possible some scammer forged caller id.  I should note that this number is used for call backs.  If you get a call out of the blue from Microsoft, well, it probably isn't the Microsoft in Seattle.

Yes.  When you need support it can be at 1 am.  If you don't already have an open case with them I would suspect  someone gave them your number by accident.  I  get lots of scam calls, but none of them outside 9-9.

I had a payment query opener for Windows Store. And Got a call from a Microsoft Customer Care Representative from this number. When I got the call from the second time, it showed as '000' which was from the Windows Team. So I can confirm that this call was from Microsoft Customer care.
