- Susieh57I am getting several phone calls a day for someone I do not know, have never known, nor are they my neighbors... I told these people this.. was suppose to have my number removed... at 8:45 tonight I get another stupid phone call.. .THIS TIME .. I let loose ... The young lady actually asked me tonight How did I get to her in talking to her because my number was suppose to be invalid! ... I told her that your stupid company called me! She told me that she was going to talk to her manager immediately to have my number removed... Heard that before! AND THEY WERE RECORDING ME WITHOUT TELLING ME OR GETTING MY PERMISSION!

- Erik Rivas replies to mary| 25 repliesI actually work for HP Locate. We work in conjunction with at least 2 private investigators licensed in Texas, and the main focus of our work is legitimate debt collection. Just because we have contacted you doesn't mean that you (or any associate of yours) has done something wrong, but bear in mind, debt collections is a LEGITIMATE BUSINESS. Also, we are not interested in harrassing you. Chances are you were contacted because we aggressively try to locate people who have an OUTSTANDING DEBT to pay. These are typically properties that eventually went into foreclosures. Because of the restrictions put on debt collections by the FDCPA, we cannot reveal to anyone except the person who is listed as the borrower in our database that they have an outstanding debt. This is the only reason we are coy about what information is revealed. Since we have the social security numbers of the actual borrowers, we try to contact possible relatives, former employers or businesses, or neighbors, and we use such information to locate and directly contact those people who those outstanding debts. If you don't want us to call you again, simply say that you want you're number marked "do not call". It takes 24 hours for it to come into full effect. Please google more on "skip investigation" and educate yourself about what we do as a legitimate business.
- Erik Rivas replies to robert| 5 repliesYour ignorant of the law. We are debt collectors in full compliance of the FDCPA. As I already put in my lengthy entry under the same name, we have licensed private investigators legitimately locate people who have not fulfilled a financial obligation.
- HP Locate is gay replies to Erik RivasIt is against the law for you to contact relatives, former empoyers, neighbors...in an attempt to collect a debt. When asked to be removed from your call list you ignorant [***] hang up! I have recorded every call from your employees who barely speek english! When asked to stop calling
- Michele replies to Robin HoodThat's great! I just did the same thing........called them 15 times this morning, and will continue to do so every 1/2 hour like they have been harrassing me. I have contacted the Massachusetts Attorney General and reported them.
- Stop bothering me replies to Erik RivasWhy would I care what my neighbor owes. That is his business. You shouldn't be calling a neighbor to try to locate the person. Keep calling him till he answers. How are you in compliance with the Do not call list if I don't have any business with you.
- atlman replies to Erik Rivas| 8 repliesWhy did you call me looking for some person that doesn't live at my address.......at 2:00 in the morning?????!!!!!!!!
- KellySounds like the same company who has refused to leave me message on my voice mail. This number has shown up on my caller Id when I was at work or with my kid, but did not leave a voice message on my voice mail. I have left on my incoming message with my name and phone number to leave a message for me to call back. If they do not leave a message, then I will not call them back. My mother email me today and said they contacted her and stated they were not a bill collection agency and they needed to speak to me. I have not lived with my parents for 10 plus years. It is annoying that someone would stoop so low to contact my parents when they could at least leave me a message in the first place and not just hang up after getting my voicemail. And also I have notices they like to call up until 8:30pm (CST) and on Sundays when I am at church.

- Maxwell GOldJust as Attorneys were jumping on the collection agency bandwagon..now comes PI's to circumvent FDCPA....BUY A TAPE RECORDER..if they are calling on behalf of a debt then they are bill collectors under the FDCPA
- LisaKeep receiving msgs on answering machine for someone who does not live at my address. 4th msg today. called and asked them to take me off their calling list. They tried to trick me and get me to say I was related to the person they were calling about. Asked them to stop calling. They said they would. I guess we will have to see. They stated in one of the messages that they were attempting to collect a debt.

- crystali was called 4 times this week including 10 minutes ago by 1-888-331-1438 & 1-469-342-0169 they claim to be private investigators and say that it's urgent they speak with me as soon as possible and they repeat how important it is with a real concerned voice like my life depended on it but it's funny that it's someone different everytime and the person leaving the message can hardly speak english who the hell are these people

- Erik Rivas replies to atlman| 5 repliesI agree with you. I don't understand how they could let their operators phone you at such a ridiculous hour. This is clearly a violation of the FDCPA (THE FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT). I would document this and contact an attorney that specializes in such practices. Incidentally, I no longer work for this company. I felt uncomfortable with other practices that they do such as flood a person's voice mail box to where it was full, their pestering of neighbors who most often don't know the borrower, their poor training and treatment of employees, etc. I also heard in one meeting that they plan to offshore many of the callers to Panama and Jamaica!
Most importantly however it that you must be sure to tell them in every instance to never call you again. If you tell them that they dialed the wrong number, they flag it in their database records as "wrong number" and their autodialer will simply continue dialing you again. It's best that you tell them you don't ever want to be called again so that they mark the call as such and "hopefully" won't be calling you again. - robin2 or 3 calls a day from different people at hp locate. finally got a licence that was left from an automated caller named dick gizmond? lic#a17155. im not calling them back but i might start picking up my phone when im home just to tell them to not call and to get bent.i owe no one and never have.

- John Jones replies to Erik RivasHaving a legitimate reason to do what you do doesn't mean it is right to use harrassing and intimidating methods. You should understand why people are guarded when you call them out of the blue and start asking them questions. There is so much identity theft and other internet and telephone crime that people have a right and need to protect themselves from people they don't know. Why don't you simply ask the question right up front: Do you know Jane Jones? Talk to people like human beings and you will get a better response. In short, your methods suck.
- acerGetting same calls for no reason looking to gather enough info and ppl that's going through the same situation to have a case and have them shut down please contact me at 570 977 2820

- CarrieThey have called everyone under my family tree looking for my first and last name. When I called them back, they gave me the last four digits of the SS# they had on file and I told them it was not me. They had my address, etc but the SS# did not match so it was a different person they were looking for. They need to stop doing this to people!!!

- tracedout replies to Erik RivasWhen you mislead people it is not legitimate debt collection. If you call me and tell me that I need to return your call without giving me any info. about this call then you are wasting your time as well as mine. I do not return unexplained calls. also, when you try to make it sound like anything other than debt collection it is criminal behavior.
