- AnonymDitto to this IRS scam call. They say an arrest warrant will be issued if I don't take my money to walmart and send them a money gram within 12 hours. I am supposed to call them from WalMart and get the exact instructions from them on how to proceed!

- RobbI asked what city in washington they were located in. They said"starbucks" lol. They probably think washiington DC. Is a stae as well.
- mdrakeJust got a call from this number and when I called back the first time it never connected. The second time I called back a gentleman answered and he definitely had a foreign accent and identified himself as a police officer who was filing a lawsuit against me for $5,000. I told him I thought this was a bogus Phone call and that he was probably next going to ask for my credit card number to get paid. Of course he hung up on me. This definitely is a scam!
- mdrake replies to KymI did call back and speak to a gentleman who had a Heavy foreign accent and identified himself as a police officer. My first clue that something wasnt right was that he answered the phone himself. I was also suspicious of the very heavy foreign accent. I prepare my taxes myself and know that I do it accurately and could never owe 5000 dollars. I told him I thought the phone call was bogus and that probably the next thing he was going to ask me for with my credit card number. At that point he hung up on me.

Prosecutors Seek 14 Years in Prison for Leader in IRS Scam
NEW YORK — Jul 8, 2015, 9:30 AM ET
Associated Press
The government says the leader of a group that duped American taxpayers into sending it millions of dollars should spend at least 14 years in prison.
Sahil Patel faces sentencing Wednesday in Manhattan for wire fraud conspiracy and other charges.
Federal prosecutors say a long prison sentence is warranted because of crimes Patel committed from December 2011 until his arrest in December 2013.
The prosecutors say people at call centers in India impersonated U.S. law enforcers and threatened victims with financial penalties and arrest if they didn't send payments.
They say Patel exploited "desperate" co-conspirators — especially women.
In a letter to the sentencing judge, Patel said he made "bad decisions" and begged for mercy. - David S MoultonOn phone now with accented individual trying to get and threatening me with arrest.

If you're ever in doubt it says to call the IRS directly. Do *not* call back the number on the phone message. I'm sure they will keep changing the number.- Caller: " IRS"
- JI am dealing with the IRS right now and got the same call as the others. So I know for sure it is not the IRS. They do everything by mail , unless there is a ongoing case you are working on with them. Before a call like that , one would receive many written notices. Its a scam!

But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of money. IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation.
