Download Smart Guard  or any other call block software and it will block pestering numbers; they will call again with a different #.  I never answer calls with no I.D.; (whoever it is can leave a message) Unless I am familiar.

these people call all times of the day and nite, including holidays over a debt that is like 14 years old..how sad is that, they threaten and harrass, they use fake company names, they have to be really desperate especially in todays economy where its hard enough to even live let alone worry about 10 plus years ago. debt was written off and they will not get a cent. i have told them that if they continue to harrass i will gather everyone together and put in a class action suit against them and they will be paying me instead of me paying them. there are statues of limitations on these things..next is going to be the airhorn in their ear, and no i won't be paying for their hearing loss either.the other one they like to pull is out of area call with number blocked.

Folks never talk with these people, they are a junk debt collector buying up old debts that are past SOL.
Block their calls or ignore them. Let them call till their auto dialers wear out.
Any normal business or person will leave a message on your machine and you can respond to that if you like.
The Feds are likely working on plans to shut these bottom feeders down.

About time to start a class action suit against this outfit. How stupid can an outfit be???

I now have a list of 10 numbers from Portfoolio Recovery Assoc. Funny thing is, their calls started when I bought a new car and financed $20K. I had an informative talk with the finance mgr at my auto dealer. He said my credit is clean with absolutely no delinquincy. I don't answer calls that I haven't back-traced first and these guys shall NEVER hear my voice.

    626-209-2241
    757-961-3544
BTW - text (SMS) never gets through. Boy have I wasted some choice rhetoric.

The number is our old scum bag friends from Portfolio Recovery.  They are owned by Capitol One Bank. You don't  really need to know any more.  They buy old charged debit for cents o the dollar and then try and get what ever they can.  If they are calling you the debit is past the last pay date and only scum bag bill collectors who operate on the cusp of dishonest cut throat cheep blood suckers.  If you have a capitol One Back Card I truly feel sorry for you.

Portfolio thinks they are fooling everyone into thinking every collection agency in the U.S. is calling you. One has to remember that those people aren't the brightest. Don't recognize the number?......Don't answer it.

If you want to stop these calls, talk to them once, ask for their account number that they are calling about & hang up.  Then send a cease communication letter to:  Portfolio Recovery Associates P.O.Box 12914, Norfolk VA 23541.  Include the account number they assigned to your alledged debt. Keep a copy to send to the regulators if they call again.

The number is from Portfolio Collection Agency. They use many different numbers to try and catch people off guard. Here is a list of numbers they use,  a lot of these numbers they have used on me and I don't even owe anyone, nor have I ever had an unpaid debt. I simply keep adding their number to my contact list and set the ring tone to not ring. I am sure the list I am providing does not include all the numbers they use but as they come along I will update the list...probably have new phone and number by then.  I am bored with the game.

Got y'all beat. Portfolio Recovery has been calling to get me to reactivate a debt from 1991!!!!!

About sending things in writing...if I ever get one of these letters from them in the mail, I was taught to write a letter stating that "I am disputing this debt".
This puts it back on them to have to prove it still is a valid debt, which it is not! The credit people got paid back for the charged off debt years ago.
Portfolio Recovery only exists to buy old debts and attempt to collect on them for sheer profit and the ruination of your recovered credit.
They also run a credit check on you regularly to get new addresses and phone numbers off your credit report. That's how they keep finding you. Doesn't matter where you live. You have become nothing but a potential source of income for them. The debt no longer exists!

Don't let them threaten you into anything.

Disputing the debt only requires them to send you a copy of the last bill that was charged off.  Sorry to disappoint you but the debt is valid FOREVER.  The SOL only prevents them from legally collecting it or reporting it.  One just has to be careful not to start the clock all over again by acknowledging it and creating a new deal.  A cease communication letter is the way to put them in a position to violate the law if they continue to call you.

Report a phone call from 510-355-1780:

The company that called you.
