- ladygeekI haven't seen them in the SF area before. I've got a bunch of phone numbers for them and I'll post them after I clean up the data. I wonder if they even know that there are places on the internet where phone numbers are shared!!! I love it!!

- ladygeek replies to Collection AdvisorThat's interesting. I only talked to them twice. The first call telling me that I owe money and I told them I have no money, no job, so bye. I specifically told her to not call me again. Then a couple of days later, I get another call because I didn't know who it was and I am looking for a job. I told him that I had already told them to not call me again. That's when he told me that they were required to call debtors twice a week. I hung up. They just sent me a computer print out card that said that they are offering me 3 ways to close out this debt. I am in the process of sending them a cease & desist letter. I have all the phone calls they've made to me and I never answered another call. Also, the thing about my state laws is that the statute is out of time in 6 years not 7 and it's been 8 years in reality. But we have a pit bull as the Attorney General and she is out hunting for bear in the collections industry.
- robertive been getting calls from these people at many of these numbers for at least 3 years now. I think they are trying to contact the person who had my cell number before me. Ive had this number for nearly 5 years.
- RickWIt's a collection agency. Got the call on my cell while I was driving, but didn't get the name of the agency. When I told the woman I was driving and could not take her call, she proceeded to tell me the debt issue, at which time I told her I could not talk to her and hung up!!

- PaulineThese people are blood suckers. I have over 40 phone numbers for them and the list continues to grow. I never answer the phone and they do not leave a message. This company is called a "Zombie Debt Collector". Never offer to pay anything to them, if you do the debt then is good again for another 4 years.

- HaHaThey are calling here for lady who previous owned my number(I get collection calls for her often) they left a message months ago with her name. Since I have nothing better to do, I decided to aggravate them whenever they call. I have a weather radio next to the phone. I turn it on & let the jokers listen to the local forecast till they hang up in frustration. Sometimes I can actually hear somebody yelling on the other end. Makes my day a little more interesting, I must say.

- ladygeek replies to JobethI use Smrtguard as well. However, as good as this product is, their tech support sucks big time. I'm still waiting for them to respond to a support question that I sent over 2 weeks ago. As, I said, it is a good product but if they don't handle support calls, they aren't going to be in business for very long.
- "Lillian Manning"Yeah I received the same thing from 510-355-1780 and 916 459-1850 Portfolio Recovery. Damn it! Stop calling me. There is no Lillian Manning at this number. Which that is an old game. Get over it. It's alread written off as bad debit! Fools!

- LawrenceI bought a car in 1998 from a buy here pay here place. The short of it was the car was a lemon and I had it checked out by a dealership. They told me that it had been in a flood and that the place where I bought it illegally sold the car, because it should have been sold as a 'salvage' titled car. I called the place where I bought the car from in Florida (a lemon law state) and told them of my troubles. They offered to pay for half the repairs. I told them I wanted my money back. They said no. I drove the car back to them a dropped it off with the keys taking a loss of 2,500 down payment. Now years later I am getting harassed by this Portfolio company

- Londonderry1528Sure would be nice if these [***] would actually leave a message...but they are in fact Portfolio Recovery. Received (and ignored) a call this morning at 8:50 am (Central) from 510 (a West Coast area code), and I highly doubt these bottom feeders are awake and working at 6:50 in the morning, which means they probably operate solely on auto-dialer. Other numbers I've grabbed from these scumbags:

- BreonI get calls from 510-355-1780 plus about 13 other numbers that belong to this Portfolio Revovery and to my understanding it is for old bills that sometimes are even 20 years old and written off by the original companies and/or dismissed in back ruptcies years ago Portfolio has bought for penney;s on the dollar. Now the name of the person they keep calling is not even me exactly. I am a entertainer and USE a stage name they keep calling. The person that they are after dpes not exist at my address or my number. The number is published in lots of advertising and my website under my stage name only and they seem to think I am this person they are after. I AM NOT.. I can not get them to stop calling at all after explaining it to them several times..
If someone knows how and where and what to do I would appreciate it as these people are wasting a lot of my time that I dont have.- Caller: Portfolio Recovery

- Why are they calling me?What can I do to stop these jerks from calling me? Ever since I got my new phone number, I have been getting calls from debt collectors looking for three different people, I imagine this number was passed around by people who weren't planning on paying a debt. I know they aren't looking for me because I've never taken out a loan in my life and have been getting collection calls virtually everyday since I got this number, well before I had it officially linked with me. Seriously, I get collection calls 2 to 3 times a day for someone else! What can I do to stop these people calling me about a debt that is NOT mine?
