- fred c dobbsthe company calling if you are able to grace them by calling them a company. is portfolio recovery. A collection of scum bags who buy items that are past the honest collection date for cents on the dollar and try and harass you until you pay them. What they are doing is just inside the law. they have been calling me from last June and let up for a while and then come back at you. They have at least 50 different numbers from all over the United States. My best advise is do not answer your phone. Do not pay them for any reason you just fuel there flame. They are not honest and should not be allowed to be in business. Start a log and when you have had enough start a case against them. You can find someone who will take this and will collect when you win. You will win.Sooner or later they will be forced out of business. Then there employees can stand on a street corner and do what they are best at.

- KARLAll the calls that are showing up from different locations (at least 30 of them) are all coming from 1 place... Norfolk, Virginia.... home of Portfolio Recovery. Portfolio was recently bought out by Capital One and now have what's called "skip lines" in all or most of their nationwide (Capital One) offices. A "skip line" is nothing more than call forwarding. A computer in their Norfolk home office dials a specific designated number, at say, a Capital One office in Oakland, California.... upon receipt of the call, it is automatically forwarded to your number in, for example, Atlanta, Georgia. Your caller ID shows it as Oakland, California. This is done to create the impression that all kinds of different creditors are calling you.... when in fact, it's just one... Portfolio Recovery..... out of Norfolk, Virginia.

I think that they just buy those numbers thinking that people won't understand. WAKE UP! I'm not stupid! I bet that all these phone go to a phone bank that is in one place.
