You have to understand these people they are not just calling and harassing the people who borrowed money. They called the 1-800 number where I work and spoke to one of our customer service associates stating they were with the fraud department and trying to locate me and threatened to have me arrested if I did not call them back by 9:00 a.m. the next day. That was the message I received for the support rep.
The problem here is is was not me they were looking for but a former associate that had worked for me and he used my name as a reference (of which i had no idea). Now I have to try and explain to my Boss and fellow associates what is going on and hope they believe me. This could result in a lot of innoncent people losing their jobs or worse. These guys need to be stopped!

Hey add me to the list I recieved a call from Travis Watson from same # but calling me @ work not on my cell.
He sent documents stating I owed money. I am checking my bank statement because I remember paying off this loan only for $100.00 back in Dec.2007. I was told I would be pkup @ Home this evening if this was being paid. They wanted $1,350 but willing to reduce it to $600.00 if a payment of $202.00 sent this evening via moneygram or money on line.

I am contacting the Atty Generals office and my atty in the morning. They are very slick but I remember last Summer receiving a call from a Myron Peterson(AKA Allen Parker) not from same # but somewhere in Fla.

I get calls from Alan Parker all the time, however, he is not looking for me he is looking for someone that I have never heard of.  After several messages were left, I called back and left a message for him telling him that I had never heard of this person and had no idea why my number was listed as a contact for her.  He never called back until recently when he gave one final ultimatum to call or be arrested at 9am the following morning.  What a genius, I'm sure this lady would certainly make herself available to be arrested at 9am sharp.  Don't be intimidated by them, they cannot arrest you themselves, they aren't the police or a judge-just intimidators.  Good luck to you all.

A man representing cashnminutes called my job from this telling my co workers that if i didnt contact him by september 25 2008 that he would send my case to the DA's office for prosecution and that i would have a warrant for my arrest issued. He also said that i had to pay 570 dollars on a loan that was only 150 dollars to start with.

I live in Maine and my sister in Georgia recieved a call from an Investigator John Stokes, he told her that she needed to give him information on how to reach me and that if she didn't he would issue a warrant for her for harboring a fugitive.  I called there and the guy that answered the phone answered as "Mediation Services".  I asked to speak to John Stokes, they  put me on hold and then got back on and said I would have to hold as he was meeting with some attorneys at the moment.  Then "John Stokes" picked up and said that I could be arrested etc...etc...well I told him that his company had called me last fall and they refused to work out a reasonable payment arrangement and that they were mean, threatening guys ..he says he doesn't work like that and that this is a new company that has recently taken over for the others that called me last year because they weren't doing the job they were supposed to be doing.  Surprisingly enough...it is still called the same and the telephone # is the same and I as well last year was called my Investigator Rich Franklin, Travis Watson and Alan Parker....does anyone like the way they deepen their voices to sound more intimidating.  I would truely like to know how to stop them.  I took out a $150 pay day loan and before I could repay I had these ACH charges coming through and it completely depleted and put my account into the negative.  Well now they want me to pay back $613.00 on a $150.00 loan because he says it is 499% APR...how ridiculous is that????  So can anyone tell me if they have heard from this John Stokes too???

CB, First, never talk to these people by e-mail. Only talk to them face to face, or through an att.s office, and if you cannot afford an att. a states att. will help you; usually free of charge.
In Illinois, we have Lisa Madigan, who is the Il. Att. General; you would have the equivalent in any other state. I was given, free of charge, legal help from Lisa Madigan's offices for charges which I did not owe by a top credit card co. They lost. I also received help from the Senior Citizens organization, also free. (I'm 69 years old).I'll try to get an e-mail for this sort of thing later.

THESE CALLS ARE A SCAM! They are targeting people who paid off their loan completely.

ALWAYS keep in mind debt collectors are at no time allowed to threaten you with arrest.

This particular scam has been reported on Consumerist.com a few times and a story about it is to show up in Readers Digest.

    For more information see http://consumerist.com/5064444/harassed-by-us ... ctors-lets-talk

His advice if you keep getting these calls:
    # Hanging up
    # Laughing and hanging up
    # Saying "Fine, I'll see you in court" and hanging up
    # Telling them you're recording the call for your attorney. This makes them hang up

Ha!  There is absolutely no way you can be arrested for failure to pay a debt. It's funny to see agents of the sleazebags trying to convince people otherwise.

Not to mention that if they call you and say they will arrest you in 24 hours, what's to stop you from simply leaving? Can you picture the police calling a drug dealer and saying "If you don't do what I tell you, we are going to raid your place tomorrow."

Very funny! how many of these calls are actually to people that owe money. Regardless of whether or not anyone owes money, the law says you can't harrass people.

What happens if you say "I will meet you at x location tomorrow at 2PM with all of the money in cash", and they show up and you not only don't have the cash, you have a dozen or so thugs who give the jerk a lesson in civility.
