- baaz replies to UnFunnyGuyThis company has been harrassing me with calls. They claimed they were calling on behalf of my cable company. I told them I'm listed with the Do Not Call Registry but that didn't stop the caller - he wanted my number - if he dialed it why would he ask for it?

- Kyle H.I just got my first call from this company yesterday afternoon; I called back right away and got the message saying please call between such and such hours. I was just reading through this forum here at work, and got another call from the number. I answered and played along with his questions for a while; by this time, I assumed it would be regarding my cable service, and I was right. I recently moved and transferred my service to a new address, so Cox themselves called me not too long ago to try and upsell me. I usually let them know I work for one of Cox's cable contractors, so they don't need to sell me anything (this is true), but I was interested to see what exactly this Iowa company wanted.
The guy accurately told me what service I currently have, which means he must have access to Cox's information (I assume legitimately). Then he made me the offer to upgrade to digital cable; similar to another poster, this would require an appointment to come out, deliver equipment, and hook it up (I know this because, remember, I work for them). As curly as I could, I said: — I work for the cable company, and I don't want to upgrade, stop calling me — and hung up. We'll see if they call back.
From my experience, this may have been a legitimate marketing call, outsourced and authorized by Cox. My phone number is the one on the account, he accurately stated my current services, I recently transferred service to a new account which may have prompted the call. I just called the contact phone number on their website, and it took me to a legitimate-sounding menu; I didn't choose any option, but the very fact that the number even raches a menu tells me this company is legit.- Caller: Marketlink

- Jill515-309-2041 called my cell phone twice so far. Once on Nov 30, 2010 at 4:56pm and then again today at 9:25am. I never pick up and since they didn't leave a message I decided to look the number up. When did they get the right to call a number over and over without leaving a message all for the purpose of marketing?
- James replies to Collins HicksIt's quite interesting - I just switched from Comcast to RCN. Not only do I receive an 800-call from Comcast now (apparently they want me back, but hello, 12 month contract with RCN?), but I now started to receive phone calls from this number too.
Related or not, it is certainly highly coincidental. I also get the same behavior - I pick up, no response.
