Just so that everyone is aware...if you end up in collections for unpaid debt, they don't have to stop trying to contact you!! Its not like they are telemarketers! You can't just say "take me off your list" and they legally have to stop calling!! They have the legal right to try and contact you as many times as they would like! The law only prohibits them from leaving more then one message a day, no Sunday calls, and if they contact you at your place of employment and you ask them not to do so they cannot. Oh and they aren't just calling you personally for no reason!! There's a reason!!! You have either gone into collections for not paying your bills, or someone you know has listed you as a reference on an unpaid account!!! That is it! If you want the "harassment" to stop its simple....pay your bills!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and one more thing!! What your referring to is the two year statue of limitations!! And that's right! In Ontario their is a two year statue in place! Meaning that if your unpaid debt goes two years without you making a payment on it, then it is void and null. However, this does not mean they have to stop trying to collect on the debt. It just means that they can't pursue you legally! ie take your house, or your car...or both depending how much you owe. Plus...then when you go to get a mortgage the bank will make you pay the debt off before approving you anyways..so your better off to just pay the money you owe. Its kind of the way the world goes round!

Nope there is no law against this type of thing. When you owe money......pay it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why should we have laws to protect people from not paying their debt????????

There is no law against debt collectors from harassing people? If a debt collector can't send a letter of verification and starts harassing people, guess who is the guilty party? Ofcourse it would be the scam debt collector. A real debt collector by law must send a letter of verification. The rest are criminals pretending to be debt collectors. They aren't collecting any debt. They are involved in extortion. Nice try !

My God, my guts hurt! I've been laughing so hard I can barely type! I almost coughed up my Iced Coffee through my nose! A debt collector just asked someone else if he had any pride!!! That has got to be the funniest, most ridiculous thing I have EVER heard!!!

I want to know why the hell a debt collector going after debts that are ten years old is going after a twenty two year old. I'm reasonably sure I could not possible have incurred debt when I was twelve years old. These robo-jerks call me up to three times a day. I'm pregnant, I'm a student, and I do not need this garbage harassment in my life right now!

I owed money years ago and now this useless company is calling and I just call block the whiney little b**chess.
Also, I had no problem getting my mortgage and didn't have to pay this Aktive Kapital back at all. The bank said they don't reference these type of companies when considering a loan. Now I know some little goofy agent is gonna jump on here and call me a liar. That's what these glorified telemarketers are paid to do. I have cheerfully written this on my Mac that was Bought with credit, while sitting in my office located in my cozy 5 bedroom home that sits on a 25 year mortgage. Here's the really funny part. I make more then enough to pay this back now and I will never just because Aktive Kapital is trying to collect on it! They have no legal means to collect other than phoning people! What a joke this company is!

.....and theres a little law called the Statuet of limitaions, which allows a debt collector 2 years to collect a debt, after that a debt collector cannot legally pursue the debt any longer, so beyond that it's Harrasement, why bother someone if u can no longer collect that debt legally.  There is a reason for that law and I for one am glad we have that law.........eveybody deserves a second chance and the law is there for that reason so as to not be burdened an punished for old debts that happened a long time ago.
So as far as I'm Stop bothering people that have a debt older than 2 years...plain and simple.

[***], I've had 2 mortgaes aproved in the last 2 years, and that old debt does not show up and/or affect your credit rating, I can't speak for others but I know for me that old debt was not a factor...........besides u guys are good at tricking people and certainly the worst people to consult for Debt advice, all my information and advice refarding debt came from a Lawyer regarding u slime bags.

A little tip for everyone hear, seek Legal advice not from your collector, they work on commission............GO SEE A LAWYER!

your an idiot.....plain and simple.....some of us arent the people they are trying to contact. I personally have talked to them and have returned many calls to tell them they have the wrong first name but right last name. Oh and no I dont owe anyone anything except a mortgage I pay faithfully on time every freakin month....obviously your a debt collector..get a real job!!!!

This number starts calling at 8am and continues calling at 10 min. intervals until 9pm. i have spoke to them and explained they are calling the wrong number. They keep saying unless the person who had my number previously calls and changes their imformation they will not stop calling my number.

Speaking to a live person will not help.  They do not believe you when you say you don't owe funds; have the wrong number; etc.  The robocalls will continue as will the live calls.  In fact that is what someone told me today.

They are a collection agency.
