- Anonymous replies to collection agentWhat a bunch of garbage. Check your credit rating people as I have. No outstanding debts; stellar credit rating. Yet these people continue to call. I have even called the company they say they are representing and have been told no you don't owe a cent - don't give them information at all (this from the company they are supposedly trying to collect money from me on behalf of).
Check the law in your area. Normally if you don't contact them; pay them (for fake claims) etc. they cannot keep harassing you. Sue them on a civil suit if they do. - Anonymous replies to collection agent"In Ontario there is (not their is). Hopefully if people owe money they have paid it. Some of the people you are contacting do not owe money; are no longer alive (I have read the comments); no longer live there; yet the people keep calling.
If your credit rating is clear, the bank, depending on your assets and earnings will give you a mortgage.
While I appreciate these people may be trying to do their job, they also need to know when they are being "had" by the company or they need to use their brains and actually listen to people and what they are telling them. Stuck in a one track groove even when they have the wrong information.
Would rather have any other job than the one they have. - TIME TO FIGHT BACK !!!!Here is a great way to get even with all the annoying calls..... Send them a text from your phone. It will go through text to landline. It is a free service that will read your text by using computer generated voice. And it is veerrrrryyyy ssllloooow, thereby tying up their phone lines. - Trotts replies to collection agent| 1 replyI do not agree with u, and u are a collection agent, it's u'r job to use whatever tactic to make soemone pay there bills. Thats why we have laws to protect people from old debt, perhaps there situations in life have changed and no longer want to be burdened by a debt that occurred a long time ago under different circumstances. Having debt or old debt doesn't make that person a bad person, but someone tryinh to take advantage on an old debt is slimey and morrally wrong. So if there is a law protecting people from legal action than why do u even bother trying to collect, thats harrarsement of sorts, and if what u are saying is true that u are allowed to make calls legally than theres no harm in hanging up on u now is there, I conveniently have them call one of my cell numbers to no avail, I rather enjoy hanging up on them, they think they are sneaky by calling me from diferent numbers and at diferent times...............plain and simple BUZZ OFF.........and do u really think anyone would actually pay off an old debt even if there lives drastically change that they can actually pay it...........NOT!
- Annoyed MotherThis collection agency Aktiv Capital do not follow the law. Even putting your number in the do not call list creates by the government doesn't not work. Like others I have told them that they had the wrong number and they continue to call 4 to 5 times a day. They don't care that the phone is for emergencies only for the child at home with anxieties. They are nothin but heartless [***]. All we can do now is spread the word and report them as much as possible. They'll have to change their number again and start all over.

- kellyGot a call from 1-519-963-8038. They are debt collectors. In the past they called from 1-519-963-1310.I blocked that number ,now they call from this new number. These are computer generated calls.I called back asking why they called. They were looking for someone with the same family name, told them they had the wrong number and not to call again. They promised they would not. They lied.I believe their name is AKTIV CAPITAL

- Ian replies to collection agentThis is incorrect. As some noted, they call regardless of whether YOU owe the money or not; they won't accept that they may have the wrong person. They may be looking for someone who formerly lived at the particular address. That is the situation I'm in, but now call me. I've never owed them money and have no unpaid debts.
- SkullGlass replies to UnpaidYup. They buy old debt that they legally can't sue you to recoup. They can TRY to convince you to pay them... don't. You don't owe them anything. They've been trying to get me to pay some old defaulted debt for nearly 10 years, now. It's so old it's already off my credit report. That's how old it is.
They'll use language like "we're filing a law suit" or "we're representing ____Bank" or "we're sending you paperwork that you better take RIGHT to your lawyer" or (my favorite) "if you do not pay within 3 days, we will be forced to escalate this matter to the next level." Nothing here means anything. If you DO talk to them... try to get them to say "we're going to sue you." They can't legally say that because they can't legally sue you.
They'll suggest they're working "On behalf of _____ Bank." Tell them "really? Because I called that bank and they say that debt is no longer valid and I don't have to pay it. I got the guy's name... you want it? (they'll say no).
OH... and they'll use things like "contact the office of Brian Goldstein" or some other jewish-sounding name. Plays into people's racist notions that "Jewish name, must be a lawyer." There is no lawyer there by that name. That person probably doesn't even exist.
String them along if you want, but they won't stop calling you. Block the number and have done with it. - SkullGlass replies to tired of dialer callsThey spell it AKTIV KAPTIAL and not "Active Capital" or "Active Capitol" because they don't want people to easily Google them and find out that by the time they're calling you... you don't owe that money anymore.
- Victor replies to RegMy phone has call blocking. Problem solved. (Panasonic)
- Not in debtThe Government of Canada (CRA) did a "reassessment" on my 2013 taxes, and claims I owe them money. I do not.
I mailed them the information they requested (proof of the child I claimed, and have been claiming for 17 years, who still lives with me, and is in school, and has no income - birth cert., passport, custody order, S.I.N. #, school confirmation), but they said they didn't receive it (can't trust the post office, you know - Canada Post).
Two days ago I resent the information by fax, along with my phone number (big mistake), so they could call and verify receiving the information (which they did), and surprise surprise - now I'm getting calls from a debt collector.
Call display. I will never answer, or talk to these people. Still an annoying form of harassment, though.
Guilty until proven innocent. Thanks Canada.
And yes, I was born here, lived here all my life, been paying taxes since my first job - 35 years ago.

- Bruno| 1 replyHow do you get them to stop calling when it is for someone who does not even live here and I owe nothing, own my home and anything else that I have. No debts whatsoever.
- ScottThey've been calling me a couple of times a day, don't know why, I don't owe money because I chose to get rid of my credit cards years ago and my credit is fine. The numbers been in my call-block app for months and when I looked at my block log today I noticed they still called so I wanted to see what they were about lol. Cheers
- MWLHave been getting calls for a few weeks usually at 2:50 or so pm. Had enough and googled the number 519 963-8038 and this site came up. So I just called the number and they were looking for a Linda Crosby. Not even close to our name. They couldn't say they were a collection agency but he took our number off the list. We moved to this area and home about 1.5 years ago and obviously got our number from Bell. I've had another collection agency looking for someone with the same last name as ours. Just call and have them take the number off their bloody lists. Oh and screw all of you who don't pay your bills!
