And if you go to their website, you'll find an email address where you can send your phone # and a removal notice. They do seem to be legit, and I can always go by if they don't follow through!

The easiest way to blunt these unwanted calls is to buy a Panasonic Cordless Phone system that has call blocking.  We have such a system, & I wouldn't be without it.  Some block up to 50 numbers.  Like this one:  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0036D1SF4

I have also loaded a FAX TONE onto my computer that I can easily access,  If they call back in spite of being blocked I will activate a LOUD FAX TONE.   (The blocking just gives them a busy signal.)  Here's a good FAX TONE:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC3uDuRXJyA

I've emailed FMR assoc Inc and asked them to take me off their call list (as per their instruction when you call them back) - no luck.  I've even answered their phone call to ask them not to call me any more. But so far, when I answer their calls I either get a message asking me to wait for the next operator, or their computer has gone on to another call and they hang up on me.

So I looked up the number, found it's the number to FMR assoc. Inc, and called their office; (520) 886-5548
I put in the ext. # for their President; Bruce Fohr, President  (ext. 247)     bruce@FMRassociates.com.

I left a message explaining my problem, and asked him to take my number off their list.  And let him know that I would share his info with other people who have had the same issues with his company.  Maybe if more people call, they will stop skirting the "no call" laws.

The best thing to do with these relentless callers is to get one of those handy whistles coaches use. I keep mine by the phone and whenever I get another annoying "real person" on the horn, I blow the whistle with all my might. Works most of the time and even if not, it's worth the fun I'm having imagining the reaction. :) It really works well with dirty phone calls, too.....

Thanks for this number.  I just received a hang-up call and it was FMR.  At least my Comcast caller ID said that.  They were very nice and apologetic.  They said they would remove my number from their list.  Hopefully....end of story.  Tks again!

I, too, reached a kind man who blocked my number and apologized for the inconvenience.
Thank you for the number to call.  It worked so smoothly, it does give me hope that it works.

By the way, don't know if it was coincidence, but right after the call from 520-290-3741 (which I did not answer), I received a call from 888-233-4659, which had as an "ID" :  V21121393500054, which stopped without leaving a voicemail.  Perhaps related?

    remove@FMRassociates.com

their instructions: (please include the word "remove" and phone number to be removed in the subject
    line)
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

"This is to confirm receipt of your request to remove your telephone number from our database.

FMR Associates is a market research only company. As a result, we are not subject to the national "Do Not Call" lists. Our studies are generally about media usage and habits, usually seeking specific types of people; that sometimes includes invitations to participate in research studies for which we pay respondents.

Our automated dialing system selected your telephone number at random. The telephone number has been permanently removed from our database at your request.

We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused.

    Sincerely,

I notice the overwhelming majority of people saying they aren't having any luck getting "taken off the list" seem awfully mad, and prone to typing in all caps. I don't want to make any assumptions about your treatment of unsolicited callers, or what you feel is acceptable as such, but I used to work for this place many, many years ago and here are a couple pieces of advice:

    1) Giving them a lecture on all the reasons they shouldn't be calling you helps no one. They don't have access to your personal rule book on when calling you will upset you the most. They use a random dialer and don't fall under DNC jurisdiction. It also doesn't matter if your number is unlisted, or if it is a cell phone, as it is a phone number and there is nothing keeping them from dialing it unless you...

    2) Politely ask them to make sure you're not called back. Use whatever phrasing you like, but I guarantee you that if you are nice, and treat them like human beings, they will be more than happy to hit the little button that says "do not call back". If you are mean to them, it is only a few millimeters away to click "call back in 30 minutes". That certainly isn't company policy, and if you get caught you will be fired, but its hard to catch people doing that, so save everyone the hassle and just be nice.

    3) This is a crappy job. Seriously. Give these guys a break.
