Whenever we get calls like that, we tell them that we don't own a computer, lol.

I've been using nomorobo for many months.  Today (8/16) was the first time I got a call from 608-371-6666.  Searching on the number does bring up a page that says it's from Nomorobo.  Not sure I believe that.  If Nomorobo's number can be scammed, certainly its web presence can be.

Two attempts that were blocked by nomorobo and then 2 minutes got through with this number.
I unplugged the phone.

Calls began yesterday.  No message is ever left.

This is indeed a number for NMR... it states on their site:

"To ensure that we don't block important calls made by humans, when a suspect <number> calls you, we answer the call and play <a message>.  If the caller successfully <identifies as human>, we send the call back to you but we change the Caller id to 608-371-6666."

So if the 608 number shows up on caller ID about a minute after an unknown number... it doesn't mean it's not a telemarketer or scammer, it just means it's an actual person, not a recording.

Just because somebody says this number is "legitimate" or "real" or something similar, Their statements may NOT apply to the call you received!

I noticed that many of the reports here are a few years old. I recently signed up for Nomorobo and it's a phone service that weeds out robo calls.  If an actual person is on the line, the service will ask them to prove that they're human (sorta like CAPTCHA) and if they answer the question correctly, Nomorobo will send the call through. They're website says that have to change the caller ID to the 608 # or it would just repeat the cycle.  It's a really cool service but there's no way to know who is actually calling unless you answer (due to the caller ID change) just know it's an actual person. Hope that helps.

This was great........... I blocked it cause it was a scam caller.. THEN when I called the number back... I get a recorded message saying its a Robo block caller hotine.. please leave the number you want to block and hit #..   THen it hangs up.    They PIMP the people who call THEM to complain..      Nice little twist that..........

This number calls at lease 2 to 3 times a day

This number is associated with NOMOROBO.COM which serves as a spam blocker for your phone.  If this number shows on your phone, it means that you recieved a spam call that got through the nomorobo.  If you have this feature on your phone, simply login to your acct and report the number that got through (usually that number will appear in your call log right before the robo centers) and now they are blocked too.

This is a collection agency,  assoc credit services who left a message with an 800 number callback.

They keep calling my business number - it rings a few times and then hangs up.  When I called the number back to tell them to take me off their call list, it says it's a ROBO CALL number?   WTH?

Person identified self as John Cohen and said his company was a contractor which was doing work in the neighborhood. He hung up when I told him: "I am on the FTC Do Not Call registry so you shouldn't be calling me."

Here's a funny one: the spoofed phone number that shows on caller ID is the number for reporting calls to my call blocker. Too bad no one has called back and reported this number to the blocker before I just did.

I'm so pleased with my call blocking service. I was getting over 100 telemarketing calls a month and the service screens out 99% of them now. When the telemarketers try a new spoofed number that does get through, I immediately report it to get even.

Hint to the telemarketers who read the 800notes website: the last digit of my phone number is 8. Call me with a new spoofed number and that number will be quickly blocked for everyone who has a good call blocker. I just reported your spoofed number. So maybe you should delete all the phone numbers ending with 8 from the database that powers your robocalling equipment.

First call from 908-279-0100 WhosWhoAmerica.  Rang twice. I did not pick up.  Then call I recognized as possible scam 608-371-6666 rang three times.  I did not pick up.

Called 8-24-17 at 8:51p.m. CID showed Janesville WI. No message was left. Call got past Nomorobo like so many other people have indicated. Lousy criminals!

608-371-6666 called. It had a useless caller ID of just the numbers. The caller left a message of just breathing. It's not a local call. I erased it and will not be returning the call.

Wmb....That 608 number is the NOMOROBO number.  Nomorobo plays the recording and states if not a solicitor to enter their CAPTCHA number which means it is a human calling and they can enter a bypass number.  NOMOROBO rings through, but shows the NOMOROBO  number in the caller I.D. So that you know the party bypassed the system, indicative that a human is calling and not a robo machine.

Same as others, first incoming call blocked by NOMOROBO.  Second call immediately from 608-371-6666 identified as Janesville, WI.  LM as Consumers Energy Appliance Division and requested call back.

First time NOMOROBO caught it....then 5 seconds later a call from this number came in!  Don't answer any calls!

If people would read earlier messages about this number, many complaints would be unnecessary. I got several calls this morning and I found from reading 800notes.com messages that when Nomorobo suspects a call to be from a robocaller it will ask the caller to enter a number that is randomly selected. If that number is correctly entered, Nomorobo will divert the call to 608-371-6666, which may show as Janesville, WI, on caller ID. The call may or may not be spam. It means ONLY that a human is making the call and Nomorobo does not have enough information to justify blocking it. Answer at your own risk. I never answer a call from a number that is not in my phone directory. If a call is important, the caller will leave a voice  message.
