These people called me a few times at home (in Portland, OR) and said they were going to send me to jail if I didn't comply with their demands. Now they have called my previous employers. STOP THESE PEOPLE NOW. I don't owe anyone any money.

Do you work for them? Seem to know alot about them and the only one one this page that thinks they are legit.

610-239-7147 calls all the time saying debt owed, does not say by whom.  I pay all my bills.  Don't know what this is about.  I'm not calling back and getting in an argument with them.

I received a call yesterday 9/17/15 stating that this was an attorney trying to collect a debt. I called it back and left a message that stated to call me as I was not in debt to anyone. I figured they had the wrong number, after reading these comments, I called my husband and told him this was a scam!  I want these calls stopped.

I am so tired of these people calling.  I have call blocker and they still get thru by using other numbers.  It is always a recording and never says who they want.  I don't answer calls I don't recognize.  If this is a legit debt, then send a letter and an explanation.  My attorney says they are  scam.

Let's put this in prospective folks. Fact - 50% of law school graduates finish in the bottom half of their class. These bottom dwellers struggle with a real career in their trade so, they go on to collect debts, whether they are authentic or not.

Law office debt collection. I think its a scam.

I got a call from this number, the guy claims he's an attorney and is wanting to know if I will pay a bad past debt, he's a debt collector. Just I don't have any bad debts. I called the place he claimed says I owe them and they said I owe nothing.  He asked me to verify my DOB and SSN which I didn't do.
It's unheard of that anyone would turn bad debts over to an attorney rather than a collection agency. Anytime someone ask for DOB and SSN it's almost always a scam. He's not an attorney ...

Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.

Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.

Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.

Stop speaking with the caller.If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.

I got one of these today and I don't oe them anything. Bogus.

I just received a call from them too.  I don't owe anyone money and I just refinanced and my credit is excellent.  I'm not calling them back.

Called  asking foe r someone that is not here bas a matter of fact called twice within 20 minutes first call from 267-678-0132, next call from 610-239-7147 same voice Caller id prompted name Joel Cardis asked if they could leave a message I replied no he is not here and I hung up the phone. These people are very annoying Need to STOP!!!!!!

Receiving message about debts I do not owe.  Has to be a scam.

I just returned a call to 610-239-7147, the Cardis law office. All they'd tell me is that they're trying to collect on a debt owed by someone named Jeffery; they wouldn't provide a last name. A Jeffrey owned my house at one time, but he died in 2003. So I don't know why they're contacting me, why they don't know he's deceased, and why they're trying to collect a 13-year-old debt.
