They are at it again.

Debt collector out of East Norriton, PA - don't know why this Joel Cardis is contacting people stating that it's a "Law Office" - according to the PA Department of State (http://www.licensepa.state.pa.us/), there is nobody by the name of "Joel Cardis" licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania...if that doesn't scream SCAM, nothing does.

They said, they are from law firm calling about debt collection. Scam!!

Just called us.  Our 80 yr. old family business was sued wrongly by our bank People's United whom held our commercial loan.  We were forced into personal and cooperate bankruptcy due to this and it's been over 2 yrs since all the bs started.  These scumbags just called and dredged up all the panic and anxiety that I thought I was finally over.   Would love to meet these people face to face and ask them how they sleep at night knowing exactly what they're doing to people. Then I'd like to punch them in the face.

Just received a message from them asking to return a call regarding a debt claim. The lady that left the message sounded like she just woke up. No caller ID. Really?

Got a call last night at 730 from 610-239-7147 about I think some debt and to all some number that they rattled off.  It was a female voice (sounded about 18 years old) and talked so fast that I could not catch the whole message and gave I think som ID # to call.  Well they can just talk to voice mail for all I care never heard of them and don't owe anyone in PA.

So she left a message and now they are required to do this:

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Even if they don't, I would now do this (using the information CWG40 has provided on the previous page):

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notion of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

The caller identified as the legal assistant for attorney joel cardis, asked for probably the previous owner of my present ph #.  She hung up after I denied being the person she was looking for.  Legal or not, they are scamers  that call anybody, hoping someone will send them money regardless of the amount.

Thanks you for the information. Please do not types in ALL CAPITAL letters as this translates into YELLING and does offend people, and when you yell, people have a tendency to not listen to what you are saying.

This a legitimate debt collector.  The Law Offices of Joel Cardis.  They will not pursue legally, but they do handle collections.  They are a little rude, not all of them, but they will work with you to make payment arrangements, and you can make payments directly online.  They called me in regards to a returned check for my Veterinarian office.  I called my Vet directly to verify this information and make payment.  The law office did send me documents validating debt as well.

You expect us to believe that, I guess we should believe that Santa Claus is going to bring us all a brand new Ferrari for Christmas.  Joel Cardis is well known to be a crook and a scam outfit. The fact that he sent you here to try to do damage control proves that.

Thanks for alerting us to the fact that this crook is using this number.  It gave me the opportunity to post everything I had on him so that people know exactly who to sue and where to report his criminal activities.  You have done a public service today by posting here.  I am sure your boss Joel will be happy that you took the time to show up.

You should have taken care of that returned check when your bank first contacted you about it instead of waiting until a scammer like this called you.
