Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

called and guy i talked to was extremely extremely rude. never had MY number on file only my DADs and was wanted money for their “client” that i have a debt with. he starting assuming i have a job and thenmeans to pay whatever he was talking about so i started asking questions like if you know where i work where do i work ? etc. he got extremely rude and told me to have a happy holiday and hung up.

Legal clowns , Joel needs a refresher course in the law, ethics, civil rights. He ia buying old old debts from telemarketers, looking like a fool. Legal clowns, my soon to be published ebook. Joel thinks leaving calls at old ladies numbers is a good waste of his staffs talents. They need training.... not allowed to threaten old ladies who have rights.

I picked up, said, "Moshie, moshie!" After a pause, the female caller asked for April. (No April, here, and I don't know any April, anyway.) I said, "This is office! You want food, you call restaurant!!" After another pause, the female caller said, "OK... Thank you." Then, she rang off.

It's always more fun when you get a live person on the line.

I received a phone message from Joel Cardis LLC of East Norriston, PA. in efforts to collect a debt. I returned the call and spoke with the receptionist and asked for ext: 7110 ( caller leaving that ext. for contact). The receptionist said that she could take the information about me. I ask her to confirm my name and the reason for the call. She would not confirm my name or address. The receptionist was rude and very unprofessional. I have zero debts!!!

No, I will not email you, there is no reason to.  Everything you need to know and to do has been posted and it appears that you have already read it.  If you are willing to do it, then do it.  You certainly do not need an email from me to encourage you, and I certainly do not need you to know my personal email address.  Nice try though.

via caller I'D. Called several times w/out leaving a message until this a.m-- "This is the law office of..."

Called twice Stating they were calling from a law firm about a debt to settle. The second time I got worried it may be legit And maybe there was an account out there I didn’t know about so I called back. Just went to a lawyer’s voicemail and I haven’t heard back. After Reading all the reviews on this number I’m certain it’s a scam..

When I picked up my phone, there was a young, qu eeer sounding male voice already mumbling nonsense before I even had a chance to say "Hello".
I have no idea what the young nitwit was up to.

When I realized this wasn’t from an attorney,I hung up on them.  plus wondered why they’d be calling me !

This is a phony, scam call.  They are trying to intimidate innocent people out of their hard earned money.  The list no specifics when they call and leave a voicemail.  report them and block them ASAP.

Just left a message to call them regarding a debt collection. Did not identify the person he wanted to talk to. Two problems: 1. neither the mrs. nor myself have any debts! 2. If they cannot ask for a specific individual, I can only conclude they are fishing. Hence, it must be either a wrong number or a scam. Suspect the latter.

This office keeps on calling stating that they are debt collector. Strange! We owe nothing to anyone. That leads me to believe that they have a wrong number. They never state the name of the person for whom they are looking. Hmmm. That leads me to believe that they are on a fishing expedition for suckers!

Calls threatening to take to court for debt owed- have no debt from PA owed never received any notice via the mail. the lady spoke so fast into the phone and was slurring her words that it was hard to tell what exactly she was saying other then she was calling from the law offices and they were taking me to court.

Fast-talking, virtually unintelligible demand to call this "law office."  Yeah, sure.  I have no debts, "lady."
