@ 8:33 tonight, I recieved a call from this # while I was texting, so I accidentally answered it, and put it to my ear and before I could swallow and get prepared to speak, a man said, very angrily and loud, "I can hear you breathing Mr. Jones, so the best thing for you to do is start talking!"
I was elated!!!!!!!!!! As I was about to fire back, He just HUNG UP. It was almost like, oops I shouldnt have talked like that.
So, before I knew any better, I called back and of course I got a different person and they would not release any info about it cause its supposedly a "Private Business Matter" between them and MY husband, and they wanted him to call.
Well, good luck cause he works 18hr shifts, 5 days a week and dont give a crap about a collection agency with a smart ass rep!

Also for a smart phone app, you can install Mr. Number. It gives you the name of the number calling you and gives  you the option of sending it straight to voice-mail. That way your phone doesn't even ring it only lets you know that you have a message.

I get these calls too but I have never answered...the guy actually left a voicemail saying "answer the f-ing phone, damn!" lol i pressed save so i can do somethng about this...

Good. For starters, you can report them to the FTC for making an abusive call. And, you can take them to small claims court and collect $1,000.

Not only have I been getting calls from these guys for over a year, they have gotten a hold of both my home (unlisted) and cell phone. I sometimes literally have both phones ringing at the same time and they leave no vm. Also, they also trade off my number to other call centers. I now have them targetd for VA and KS states. I have spoken with them REPEATEDLY. They don't ask for me by my married name (4yrs married now) and they have asked me to give THEM personal information on an acct they REFUSE to send me written documentation of (I have been asking for them do this for a yr now). They do mention an acct I had but it was 10 years ago. If they can get my phone number it seems they would also be able to get my address and would WANT to send written documentation. I have repeatedly told them to take me OFF of their calling list. THey will wait a few days and then start up again. I told them today that I am making an official complaint...

What I find that is so unprofessional is that they do not leave any kind of messages. Pretty silly since that most people will not answer the phone from a number that they do not recognize, at least i don't

Yes, same old Portfolio Recovery Associates. I have a silent ring tone that I assign them when I get a number that I identify as them. I understand the banks sell them bad debts past the statute of limitations and then they try to nag and embarrass the people into paying something. If the person pays even 10% of the debt it is a profit for this company because they buy these debts on 1-2% of the face value.

calls from this number on and on and on.  I have told them two dozen times I am not Mr Lee and some other name and have ask them to take me off their list.  I quit answering but it is getting aggravating for this number to call me several times a day even on Sunday during church.   I have had this phone now for eight months looks like by now they would know they have wrong number or person however you say, they never leave a message.

Called left no message,  called them back they wanted my social . Asked them to remove the number it is a corporate cell phone number .   They hung up on me.  Very Abusive

Got a call from them today around 8:00 PM. They had my name right, but said I have some outstanding debt they would like me to talk about and that the call was being recorded. One, they, Portfolio Recovery Associates, said I had debt with a Citi credit card. First of all, I just barely turned 18 and don't even have a credit card. Second of all, I don't have any debt at all. I just hung up. My guess is they're a bunch of scammers!

For those of you with Android phones, there is a lot of very good call blocking applications listed
in the Play Store.   I can't speak for all of them but the one I'm currently using after going through
several of them and feeling out their strengths and weaknesses is "Extreme Call Blocker".

Very, very good .... I've got it configured to allow my contacts and local area code but block unknown
callers sending them to voicemail without ringing if not explicitly banned and just deleting everything
with no ringing and no voicemail if they are banned.

Might be a suggestion if any of you are hounded.   These bozos at Portfolio Recovery mixed me up with someone else with a similar name from some other part of the country and keep calling from different numbers from 620, 757, 888, 281 area codes even though they've been served formal
cease and desist letters which they quite illegally ignore.  

With the blocking I'm using now though, all is nicely silent --- no scammers, no telemarketers, no mistaken identity collections, no wrong numbers.     :)

Nobody can call me unless I want them to call me.
