Rings and hangs up - several times a day

Caller ID said "4 Spam."  I let it go to voicemail and the caller hung up before the vm greeting completed. I'm adding the number to my Ooma blacklist now.

Same here CID shows 4 SPAM. We can all wait for the government DNC list to kick in I think that was a way for govt to get their own call list for NSA to practice on. They sure do nothing for the public.

Caller ID for this number comes up 4 SPAM.  Now who would ever answer this call with an ID like that?  It might as well be 4 SCAM

Caller ID said 4 SPAM didn't answer it let it go to voice mail.

PLEASE someone tell me how to stop these calls.  I am on a no call list be continue to get at LEAST 10 calls each week for different things offers sales etc., !  WHY????

At least Caller ID was honest.  The call was labeled "4 SPAM."  I didn't respond orally - I just press TALK and then hung up.  End of call.  That is my standard practice these days.  The "Do Not Call" list is useless against foreign calls, political calls, and charities.  So, just develop a good, quick zap technique.  Some newer phones have automatic zapping.

These people keep calling me and they never speak when I pick up.  When I call the number back to ask to be taken off their call list, I get a message that this phone number is unavailable.

Because they want to con you out of every last dollar they can get out of you.  They are not a business, they are international thieves who use internet VOIP technology to call toll-free all over the world.  They are looking to get any guilable patsy on the other end of the line that they can.  Once you start talking with them, they will never leave you alone - especially if you actually send them some money for some reason or another.

You are partially correct - they are using VOIP to call into the U.S. from overseas, however to not make the mistake of believing they are actual businesses hired by other businesses here in the U.S. to do their marketing.  They are gangs of con men using some of the oldest scams in the book, with the storylines frequently changed up.

It's usually something to do with a "free" security system, or a sweepstakes prize award (which you never recall entering), etc.

NEVER EVER talk to these people. If you do, they will latch onto your phone number like starving hienas and you will never get rid of them.  Using a call blocker is of limited use because the VOIP technology lets them change the number showing up on your caller ID to anything they want.  Therefore, they will change the "phone number" they are calling from anytime they see you have blocked the one they are currently using.  And they will keep calling you.

The only effective remedy is to change your phone number (which will only slow them down, because they originally found you by dialing random numbers - eventually they or others like them will hit your new number) or the utilization of a "white list" screener.  This is really the only solution, but comes at a high cost of not letting other legitimate callers get through to you if you do not have their number in your white list.

I'm all 4 SPAM, only if it's placed between two slices of bread!

I have received several calls from the same telemarketer (the last from this number, I don't  recall that the others were necessarily from this number) saying that "This is not a sales call..." and claims a rise in crime that I should be concerned about.  Then the voice instructs to press 1 for more information or 2 to be removed from their calling list.  In the past I've pressed 2, obviously sans success.  So, this time I pressed 1 to appeal in person to stop the calls.  A very rude and abusive person - obviously bent on a sale - grilled me about my current security system claiming that, as it is more the four years old, it is antiquated.  I protested that all I wanted was for them to stop calling me and he replied I "should remain an idiot " and hung up.  I then called the number back and got the recorded message that "this number is not available".

One day it comes up on my caller id as Neighborhood Watch and the # is 347-775-2688 and the next time it comes up on my caller id as Babylon NY at 631-482-3381. Same sort of sell about  home security. I have listened to both since I get them so often and have tried to respond at the end of the message but have never been able to get thru to anyone.
