Registered on do not call list, even for cell phone. I pay for my minutes and do not want them calling my cell phone!

It was a recording to get a home security system "for free".  I also pressed 2 to be removed from their calling list.  We will see if it takes.  BTW I am on the Do Not Call list, which does not seem to make any difference.

The caller ID says New York. When you answer you hear a recording about crime and their security system.I requested to speak to a rep and talked to a young female. I informed her we are on the DNC list and stop calling. Her response was OK and hung up. They then called every day . I filled out a DNC complaint form after todays call.

I can't stand this anymore.. how annoying sometimes 4 calls a day from this number!!!!

This is a spoofed phone number - it doesn't really exist. I called it back and got a message that it's not in the phone company's database. These calls are most likely the criminal activity that has been increasing in prevalence over the past few months.

why are these calls not able to be shut down quicker?
We need to have a PHONE POLICE  set up that cant close these robo calls!!!!

I have written to this page before with this message.  Being on the Do Not Call List only prevents legitimate companies and people from calling.  It does not stop scammers!!!!!

When I see this number, I usually take my phone off answer and let it ring as long as they like..>Sometimes if I''m in a good mood, I answer with a fake company name  and ask "can I help you with plumbing supplies."

They hang up  - It does NOT help to call back and press numbers to "get off their list." that only tells them that they got a "Live One"..... they get paid by the calls that are "Picked up" not necessarily answered by a live person.

They are giving away a "free" wireless home security system, including installation.  The hook is, if you want the "free" system, you must subscribe to their monitoring service.  They are a bit vague about the  cost of that, but it's "about" $39 / month with a three year contract.  That's a commitment of over $1,400 to get the "free" system.

I told the guy he better have a security system because I was going to come and kill him.

There has been some suggestion that pressing buttons "to be removed" from their calling list is not a good idea; just confirms they've reached a valid number....at which point they really step up their calling campaign to that number.

It's really important to identify the perp and then file a complaint here:

If your # is already on the Do Not Call list, pressing 1 to identify the perp does not somehow give them permission to call (like they try to claim).  They literally are required to produce a written document YOU signed giving them permission to call that particular # - otherwise they've violated the law.

When I get a call with just the city and state on the caller ID I pick it up and hang up right away without saying anything.  I never get a call from that number again.  Works for me.

i got a call today...the caller i.d. showed the name as "babylon"

Yes they have called my home phone and instead of leaving a message, they wait till the end of the recording, hang up and no message, but the answering machine picks up the hang up.

Called when no-one home, left no message.  Caller ID says "New York".   Have been getting calls daily about horrific numbers of home invasions, burglaries, etc., but GOOD NEWS!!   They will GIVE me a FREE alarm system if I'll just let them put a small sign in our front yard.   Yeah, right!  

Possibilities:  Just a typical ripoff (most likely), or possibly a way for their "installer" to get into our house, see whether we're worth burglarizing and best entry, etc; or perhaps it's just that I'm paranoid.
