I was monitoring my company on Twitter and noticed that someone is using my company name (FPM Marketing) and this phone number with an extention for a job posting in Texas.

    1. I'm not located in Texas.
    2. I'm not hiring for an admin person on Ad posters.

This is a real problem, and I'm looking to see what I can do on this.  I've attached (at the time of posting this, the link to the FALSE job listing)

    http://www.ziprecruiter.com/job/9b7d5c7e/?source=twitter

    BOTTOM LINE: It's a SCAM.

I park in a park & ride to take the bus.  I often return to my car in the evening to ads under the windshield.  (I hate that.)  Today I found a yellow stickynote on my driver side window:

    PLEASE CALL
    VERY IMPORTANT
    641-715-3900
    EXT. 815574

Did someone dent my car?  I gave my car a looksee but didn't see anything new.  So I drove home.  On the way out of the parkinglot I notice many other cars had the same sticky.

The information here is useful.  I understand the number is just a service, the real scumbag is on the extension.  So before you vent on the first extension you see here, consider the wisdom of complaining to the CORRECT scumbag.

You are going to take up for Trevor?  He crossed the line when he cursed the person who just wanted their name and number off the list.  I'm sorry but Trevor was the one who was unprofressional, he should have considered the feelings of the person calling.  Had Trevor known what his job was he would have pulled the person calling in and maybe closed a sale, but was too quick to get on the defense.  As for you, stay out of the customer service / telesales field because it's evident you don't know either.

further reference: If you call a company and they curse at you call the FTC and also their phone company to let them know you called X number got (name) on the line and they cursed you out.  The phone company is to shut their phones off for 24 hours for using profanity (against the law) over the phone.

I was looking for a free voicemail service and that is the phone number that simple voice gives. Your callers type the extension and the call should go thru. Spammers are using this number for their crap.

My friend gave me this number 641-715-3900 because I mentioned that I wish it was a company that does free voicemail!  Well, after setting it up I received the following instructions you about to read..Hope this will help you out in some way...I won't be using the service after reading what everyone is saying...

READ below: I received instructions to activate my voicemail....(I live in Washington DC)

Listed below are detailed instructions on how to use your SimpleVoiceBox Free account.
    First Time Setup-Administrative Mode

For first time setup and future management access the administration mode by dialing 641-715-3900 (your VoiceBox number) and enter your extension code followed by the * key, you will then be prompted to enter your password followed by the # key. Feature keys are provided below for setting up your VoiceBox.

When creating your outgoing greeting make sure to instruct your callers to leave a message after the tone and to press the # key when finished. The system will provide more options after this point.

To listen and to leave messages to your VoiceBox have your callers dial 641-715-3900 (your VoiceBox number) and enter the extension code followed by the # key. The system allows the caller to hit any key to skip the outgoing greeting if all they want to do is leave a message.

**IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE ACTUAL SOURCE OF THESE CALLS, READ THIS**

There is a company called Free Conferencing Corporation (http://www.freeconferencecall.com/index.asp). When you go to their main page, you can follow one of many links to services they provide. The one that is being used when you get a text message to call the number 641.715.3900 (or the number is listed on a company's website or one of many other ways you came across this phone number) is called Simple Voice Box (http://www.simplevoicebox.com/index.asp). This allows anyone to set up a free voicemail account for personal or business use. You get a phone number (which is 641.715.3900 for everyone who has an account and isn't paying for use of a toll-free number) and then your own personal extension. So anyone can set up a free account and record a greeting and receive voice messages from people who call and enter their extension. There is no hidden cost to call this number or to enter the extension you got for whatever company is soliciting you. It is not the number for Free Conferencing Corporation; they have a toll-free number they use for customer service. I was reading through the whole first page of reports on this site and there are people claiming it is one company or another. I just want to make sure that people researching this number are getting a valid and legitimate answer to the origin of this phone number. It is a company that does third-party calls for businesses/individuals for solicitation/informational purposes and when you call the number (641.715.3900) and enter in the extension that was given to you, you are directed to a voicemail box (or just a recorded message if the account is set up to not allow messages from callers) for whatever person or company that you are trying to contact. If you want to contact Free Conferencing Corporation to report someone who is using this number for any purpose considered illegal, you can call their 24/7 customer service @ 877.482.5838 (international: 562.437.1411) and make sure to have the extension number of the person/business you are reporting. Hope that helps!

Ummm, maybe you should make sure your statements are correct before you start trying to call someone out for their response. It is the FCC you call to make complaints to when you receive harassing/inappropriate calls. You may also know it as the Federal Communications Commission. While the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) does have a link that takes you to a form you can fill out to file complaint against solicitors or creditors, their purpose is "to prevent unfair methods of competition in commerce" and to protect consumers. The FCC is the government agency that specifically deals with communications and that "regulates interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories" (quoted from the FCC website at http://www.fcc.gov/what-we-do).
I absolutely agree that Trevor's behavior was inappropriate, unprofessional, and unnecessary but for that person to call back multiple times (after reporting his behavior to his supervisor) to curse him out, hang up on him, and harass him was just as obnoxious. By doing that, they were behaving just like Trevor and were just as tactless as he was. They should have simply made a formal complaint to his supervisor and left it at that, instead of complaining about him being inappropriate and then immediately behaving in the exact same manner. I worked as a bill collector for a couple of years and had to deal with the most vulgar, disrespectful, and offensive people I have ever come across. They would tell me I called them ten minutes ago when all the calls were dialed by a computer and tracked and logged and there had been no calls to their phone in days/weeks/months and I had never personally made a call to them ever. But they were absolutely sure and insisted that I was the same person when in actuality, they had probably received a call from a collector from some other company but were so upset or embarrassed about owing money that they didn't even pay attention to what company I said I was calling from. When you are not face-to-face with someone, it is much easier to treat them like they are not even a human being that is deserving of, at the least, to be treated with a little decency. While it was wrong of Trevor to treat the caller the way that he did, it was equally abhorrent for them to turn around and behave the same way. Just sayin'...

    Annoying calls 
Fact 1 - The DNC list CLEARLY does not work, everyone should knows this by know!
Fact 2 - Filing a complaint with the FCC does not work, a total waste of time; done that.
Fact 3 - Having an unlisted phone will not help you.
Fact 4 - Asking/begging telemarketers to take you off their call list does not work!
Fact 5 - No "class action" suits are filed and certainly, this is not a remedy.   Many of these telemarketers are in other countries and out of the jurisdiction of the USA.
Fact 6 –Complaining to the BBB is a corrupt organization that sells their ratings to the highest bidder.
QUIT BEING FRUSTRATED over Telemarketers-Scammers & Bill Collectors HOUNDING day after day!
*********DON'T GET MAD – HIT BACK!
**********STOP BEING ANNOYED - STOP BEING A VICTIM
    *************PURCHASE A CALL BLOCKING TELEPHONE!!!
Uniden and Panasonic make CALL BLOCKING telephones.  They’re cheap - $40-$60 and they usually come with a 2nd wireless handset, and they work beautifully!  These phones also block “PRIVATE”, “OUT OF AREA” and "UNKNOWN" calls!!!
