I am registering a complaint with both Microsoft, Norton, and the my states AG. I am on the Federal DNC List, and keep getting phone calls from companies like this. The information is garbage, and they are attempting to defraud you of your money.
I suggest you forward any information regarding Paetec Communications, Inc. to Systems Security at Microsoft, Norton and your local Internet Service Provider.

- samspot| 1 replyI've tried blocking these numbers on my phone service site, but they call from so many different numbers that I filled up my quota of 30 blocked numbers in just a few days. Now what I do when the number shows on my TV screen is mute the sound on the TV and pick up the phone on the first ring. Do not say a word and then place the phone down somewhere (I go to a distant empty bedroom) making sure no background noises are heard. Then I leave the room and the phone (very quietly closing the door) until I hear that annoying signal that indicates the caller has hung up and the line is dead.
Let them waste their time and money getting no kind of response. Sometimes patience is a virtue. Never give them any clue that they have actually reached a working number. Eventually they'll give up. Idiots.
My oldest son, who has a deep authoritative voice, picks it up on the first ring and says "911, what's your emergency?" They hang up. He also records the number so if they call again he can do the same thing.- Caller: New York

- Sandy EricksonOften and very rude, arrogant. I am on the do not call register which i guess means absolutely nothing.
- psk9399 replies to samspotThat's funny - Wish I could try that but they call on my cell phone so it would use up my minutes if I just left it sitting around. I simply don't answer any out of state calls unless it's someone I know. Eventually they stop calling. Good luck
- MicheleI googled this number because someone called and hung up. I'm supposed to be on the Do Not Call list too so I wanted to find out who it was. I think it bypasses Do Not Call because it's showing up on my caller ID as a private number, so this is how scammers are tricking the system. I just wanted to say thank you to all who report things like this so the rest of us are alerted. This is the only way we can stop them.

- Theresa W replies to Leah| 4 repliesI just got the same call. Thick accent wanted me to do something to my Windows operating system. Said he wanted me to type in some things. Yelled at me for putting him on speaker. I told him what did he want. Said he wanted me to type some things in, on my computer. Never said why. I said you know you are rude and I do not know you so forget it. A$$HOLE. He is not scamming me.
- Theresa W replies to Theresa W| 1 replyI also reported him to the FCC. This guy was rude, did not make any sense and obviously was afraid I was going to record him.
- sambeauxSame as most. Foreign accent, I hung up. Have been getting a lot of unusual calls over the past month or so. As though my number has been sold...like this...not all political. Seems not answering 800 calls is not enough.
- BobI think this company and/or single agent is getting fed "leads" from a disreputable Verizon technical support rep in India. I was having connectivity issues and roughly 1 hour after my call, this company called, Indian rep. Anyone else recently make a call to Verizon tech support?

- techdude1996 replies to LaurieSince that number is not a 1-800 or a 1-866 number, you will keep getting calls from him.
- techdude1996He called me at my house and asked about my e-mail and said that viruses were getting thorough and contaminating my computer. That is not true cause I ran a scan the day before and 30 minutes after. Nothing! He has broken English. I thought is was my step brother who lives in NY.

- Fed up with scammers replies to Norma Jeanthe problem with blocking this number is that they just change the number to something else. They are spoofing the number so it looks like it is coming from different places in the country. I have been getting these calls for months. The calls come from NYC, Tampa, Fl, Rochester,NY, and all over the country. I received one the other day from this number and it was a guy with a thick Indian accent that greeted me by name and said he was calling about my computer. I didn't even give him a chance to say anymore, and told him that I didn't have a computer and nice try numnuts. I then hung up on him. He tried calling back 3 more times and each time, I insulted him, which made him all the madder. If i pissed him off, then my work is done. Nice try scammer, but not falling for it.
- RichThis man called saying his name was Charley Holmes. When I said I had no problem with my computer, he hung up. Don't know the details but I thought it was strange.
