Ha same experience other users .. go to my computer etc. I asked where are you from ? He said he is from India .. I said i don't have windows operating system I have Linux .. I started laughing at him .. he hung up ..

I have so many numbers that call me .440,503,646,412,800, 888,etc.It does not do any good to not answer. The next day I will get Twice as many calls. I have called, and placed my number on do not call list. But now i get so many more calls than I did before.!!!!Why cant something be done about this? My daughter got a call, and tood them to stop calling her. He called the next day and recited every dirty word he could think of, and told her ,the address her age and ss# and was going to visit her for pleasure.He did not use the word pleasure, but  went into detail about what he would do.!!!! Why are they gettingaway with all this smut!!!! MAN< they sure do learn english words and the meaning, real fast!!! They must think we americans are realy stupid! And I suppose we are, they are getting away with it.HOW,,,,,,,!!!!!

I got the same call , very rude and demanding. Is there something we can do to catch him?

I have been called several times from this number, and usually hang up before they say anything but after reading these posts I decided to try and listen to the guy once. Total scam and fraud to perpetrate identity theft and empty bank accounts or steal credit card information. Pretending to be someone representing microsoft interests and wanted access to my pc to correct a window virus problem. They guy who called me used the first name of Alex, don't remember last name but it sounded like a real english name. The guy was from India or Pakistan and barely spoke english. Also numbers from the area code 91731 which is what shows up on caller id is the same folks. Why after all this time they have not been arrested and prosecuted is totally beyond me. I am a computer specialist and this is a prime example of abuse that is becoming more and more common.

Identical thing just happened to me. Told him I smell a scam.  He pretended to be insulted, and I hung up.

interesting...just had the same basic experience as the rest. thick accent, music in the background.  What I found strange is that he asked for Mr Rhodes. Rhodes just happens to be my wife's maiden name...her family lives three states over....could be coincidence maybe, but weird.

We've received those scam calls where they say that your computer has a virus and they need access to it to CLEAN it.  If you are gullible enough to believe these scam artists, they will have you click on this and that to give them remote access to your computer.  Then they will DESTROY your computer with viruses and malware.  If you want to lose all of your files and personal information to these thieves, then by all means go ahead and work with them to 'clean' your computer.  You will regret it.  

What should you do?  Hang up.  Block the number if you can.  Add them to your phone's address book under SCAM.  Last, but not least, REPORT THEM to www.donotcall.gov.  Do it now!

If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.
It is especially dangerous now because criminals are actively attacking unpatched Java security holes so don't let anyone into your PCs.

If you give them access sometimes they'll hide your desktop icons so you have to pay to get them back.  
To get your icons back, right click on your desktop, choose arrange icons and click on Show Desktop Icons (This is for Win XP)

Have received several calls from this number.  Either they ask me if I have Windows on my computer or that my software subscription has expired and I need to renew.  Always ask for my number to be removed from the calling list and have to hang up because they won't take "No" for an answer.

I also received a call from this a hole several times. I hung up on him the first 3 times but the 4th time I told him my computer was none of his business, that I'm on the do no call list and I was reporting him. Then I hung up on him. Caller ID just says # then NY New York.

O.K... So how do you call the FCC? What is their phone number?

I too received a call from this number.  I called it back and spoke to a man with an Indian accent who said he would take my number off the list.  Twenty minutes later I got another call by someone with an Indian accent telling me there is a problem with my computer....blah, blah, blah.  I informed him that I already spoke to someone from his company and was ask to be taken off their calling list.  He started to argue with me.  Then I informed him I know this is a scam because I researched it on the internet and if he called again, my next call was to the police.  He got completely nasty with me, and then informed him  I was termination the call and to never call this number again. I hung up.  Because of this type of annoying calls and several others, I called the phone company and will now be paying an additional $3.50 a month for an unlisted number. UGH!

This guy (thick Indian accent) just called me to offer Windows Maintenance on my computer (09.15.2012 at 2:55pm)....  When I hung up, he called me back to to tell me to F my mother.  I reported it to the DoNotCall Registry.  But I'd rather get on a plane and go teach him some manners.

got the same call-told him off and he called me 2 more times saying harassing things as far as I could understand.

just called here a few minutes ago, but the message machine caught the call and the # hung up. I did a search on the # 646-502-6605, said NYC, NY .. I am on the do not call lists , plus the one for 65+ seniors. I still can't seem to get these unwanted calls stopped.

I get this phone number on my phone every night...They do not leave message and since I do not answer phone to unknown numbers they just hang up. But, have the phone number show up on my phone. I was a bit worried as I have relitives in NY City and did not know anyone with this number. Now looking up this number I see it is a telemarketer. Thanks to all above people for sharing this with us..Thought I would be ok as I am also on do not call list...Oh well, so much for that....

I got the same guy. I told him I use a MAC so he should do a better job of profiling before he calls and bothers people. I also said take me off your list and he said (I'm not kidding) "No, I will keep calling until you cooperate". So then i just let him have it. I told him he was terrible at scamming people and everyone is on to his scam. That I was reporting all of his phone numbers to the phone company and in the US when you do theft over the phone its then a federal offense and we bring in the FBI. He got really quite and then hung up. Ill let you know if he calls again. What was the funniest is he tried to do an australian accent. So i couldn't help but mention to him he sounded very silly.
