Call came @ 4:45 no voice but lots of background noise...no company

It's Skype.  In my instance, it was a return call from a business I had called.  Very legit in my instance.  Since it's Skype, it could be anyone though.

got a a call from this number. did not answer (dont answer calls from numbers i dont know) and they did not leave a message. now ive blocked it as i only use skype very casually, and no one i know in real life would try to get me that way.

i got a call from this number with a man asking me if I had payday loans to pay off he would do it without a fee. Lean me money, asked me for my bank account info.  SCAMMER>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I received a call from "Unknown" at first asking me about a Graco Pack N Play I have for sale on Craig's List.  The caller had an Australian accent and he was difficult to hear.  He asked how sturdy the infant travel crib was because he wanted to BURY IT!  I told him that he was crazy and I hung up.  He called back again but this time the number came up as (661) 380-3000  Palmdale, California. I was not going to answer it but my husband felt the need to.  It was the same guy that called from the "Unknown" number.  He asked how sturdy the infant crib would be because he wanted to BURY A 3 YEAR OLD GIRL THAT HE KIDNAPPED AND KILLED!  My husband continued to entertain this freak.  My husband said the the crib wouldn't hold up because it was made of mesh fabric and the dirt would crush it.  The caller said that maybe he could reinforce it with something.  My husband said that he believes what the caller wanted to do is illegal, the caller knew this but continued with his questions about the play yard.  My husband recommended wrapping the child in plastic wrap and the caller felt that was too impersonal!  The caller aslo asked if we had a pink dress we could through in because she was a special little girl and he wanted to dress her pretty!  The caller also said that he has done this before and dressed the last girl in a pretty dress.  He agreed to meet my husband in a crowded place but it had to be today because he really needed to leave the state because of his crime!  Needless to say, my husband DID NOT go meet anyone.  And the guy actually called my cell again a few minutes later but I let it go to voice mail.

My husband looked the number up on line and saw all of the scams but none of the scams said the caller committed a horrific crime!  I was very freaked out!

It is skype, always. Whether or not you are receiving calls from loved ones or random people, they are calling from Skype. Whether or not they are running a scam is irrelevant. They are using Skype. The people just type in random numbers and can call anyone. Helen is right, and so is everyone else.

I posted an ad on craigslist about a boat I am trying get rid of.  Anyways someone called me from this number asking about it and wanted to know if blood and hair fibers could be traced by forensics in the carpet of the boat. What kind of sick person is this? I hope they get caught and arrested!

You don't necessarily know it when people use Skype since they may have a "Skype In" number associated with their Skype account.  That's my case.  People call me on my "Skype In" number thinking it's a regular phone number.  Nobody among my friends knows it's actually my Skype account they are calling with that "Skype In" number.  When I call them, they get either "unknown" or sometimes the 661 number from California even though I do not live in California and I never call from California.  You should read a bit about "IP telephony" and how it works.  The comments which state that it's a Skype number are correct and anyone with access to the Internet could call you with Skype: friend, foe or scammer.

this is another one of those unsolicited telemarketing phone call - I have tried repeatly to have my mobile phone provided block them - but to no avail  - where are those marketers getting our phone numbers from???? it can only be from our mobile phone providers selling our information

I rec'd at least 2 calls on my cell, middle of night, DIFFERENT DAYS.  One went to voice mail and no msg left. One I answered and the male caller's voice was garbled, and when I inquired as to whom he was trying to reach, i rec'd an unintelligible response.  I told him to not call this number again.
We'll have to wait to see if he calls again.

I've received 2 calls from this number today. Neither time was there anyone on the line.

i recieved this phone call from 661-380-3000 it says its from a land line, when i did an intellius search..im thinking its from my ex bf's current crazy wife..who else lives in the area? who knows..i dont pick up the phone from phone numbers i dont know anyway..if you read this, GET OVER ITTTTTTTTTTTTT...im a doc now, your hubby is beneath me..he's your problem..not MINE..

I just ecieved a call from this number I do not recognize it.  No way to check on

This is a SKYPE call.  Someone is placing a landline call to you via SKYPE.  Could be anyone.  The person who called me was an associate and he was using SKYPE.

I just placed an order with prom gown dress and went through pay pay with my order. Lady had a foreign accent, so I ask where is she calling from and she said Atlanta GA. After giving her my measurements and confirming my order. I hung up and got a call from 661-380-3000. This person
( foreign) person had the same information that I had just put online with my order. I felt everything was legit and quite satisfied, because they said that they will immediately send my order out. I hung up from her. I forgot to ask a question and called the number back and found out no such number, call authorities. I immediately cancelled my card information. They called me from 678-666-0148 and told me that it wasn't their number. I ask how did the other caller know my information? She kept trying to go over my order avoiding my concern. She finally told me that they uses skype. Have no idea about skype. I still have no idea whether this is a valid website and why do they use skype? Website is promgowndress.com, but the order comes up as ordersorder@gmail.com with foreign customer service?

Received call from this number, but did NOT answer.  One minute previously, I had answered a call from a different number I did not recognize, and it ended up with a guy cursing at me, after I told him "I think you have the wrong number."  Naturally, I just hung up after his abusive words.
