I was STUPID enough to give them what they wanted.  I was scared to death.  Around the time they told me I had committed check fraud, I had another checking account I had closed a few weeks later, and was desperately looking for a cash advance to pay bills. I cannot believe I did this now that I googled the phone no, as I received yet another phone call AFTER I paid these idiots off from another similar scammer.  Then I got the feeling in the pit of my stomach, I had not 2 hrs earlier paid these idiots.  This was my nestegg I took the nearly $800 out of to pay them.  What scared me was what others had noted, they had WAY too much personal information on me and sounded extremely convincing and weren't the usual heavily accented calls and voicemails I receive from time to time ever since I started researching online loans.  They mentioned mid-Nov of 2012, now I can't remember back that far, at least as far as how many websites I visited to try and procure a short-term loan, but I do know I never received one, I found a local cash advance outlet that was on the up and up and helped me through a bad time in my life.  Btw, I received this call on July 30.  Too late now, but I wonder if there is a way to get my money back somehow from this bogus law firm?  Anybody have any ideas at all?

Got the call two days in a row. She said that i had 24 hours to call back or they would put a 72 hour locator and arrest me. Whats funny is that she said the EXACT same thing the second call so i put that number on my call reject list. Its obviously a scam. Im reporting this  number to the FBI. Thank you for these comments because i was scared.

Received a call on my cell phone today from  (678) 245-4304 and a woman named Sarah. It wasn't even for me but for my fiancée, I'm not sure how they had my number. I was told he was being charged with collateral check fraud and theft by deception for an unpaid Payday Loan of $800 from November 2012. She said if he didn't agree to handle it by the end of the day, through a payment plan that totaled $1900, she would sign off on it and a warrant would be put out for his arrest. I immediately hung up and contacted a lawyer who assured me of the scam. My fiancée is a wounded Iraq veteran currently hospitalized for PTSD treatment and I'm 35 weeks pregnant, so I really did not need this crap first thing I'm the morning...they should be ashamed of themselves.

This ph# called me & left a message.  Said she was from State Farmer for an investigation.  Didn't give a name of whom she was asking for.  Said my state had forwarded a name with a SS# attached to it and I had 24 hrs to return this call or be prosecuted.

It freaked me out, because I had no idea what she's talking about!

Just got a call from a Ms. Brown too. Thi sisn't the first time I have received calls from people like this  and emails with threats.  Once I had to call the police department and ask what should I do about it.  They wanted me to pay with  MonaPack and had only two hours to pay whatever it is they say I owed them. The police told me that they ask people to pay with MonayPacks becasue it is not traceble. Legal collection agencies will allow you to pay in different ways.  This people make you so nervous you are willing to send them money without even thinking whether you owe them or not yet, they never send anything to your home address. They have so many different numbers they call from you can't keep up with them.  I was ready to call them until I decided to find out who's number this is.

    * File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage     http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
    * File a complaint with the Attorney General for the state you live in

Go to the financial insitution that issued the paying documents.  See if the transactions can be reversed for fraud.

File a police report for extortion.

    Angela M.
June 2, 2014 received a call from Sarah Hunter (678-999-1304) from the State Filing Dept, Fraud Division (678-245-4304)regarding a loan from Advance America in the amount of $800 plus $9.95 service fee. I made two payments of $409.95 - June 2nd confirmation #002809MA and an automatic withdrawal on August 15th.

I am now JUST finding out this was a scam. I am looking to rectify this matter.

    Please advise.

Thanks for the reply and options, nothing helped in the long run.  Its been 3 and a half months now.  Sure the FBI and the local sheriff have a report, but I don't think they do much with this type of matter.  I have rec'd many more calls from this # plus other #'s that have the same area code and first 3 digits.  I have not answered another call and unlike the call in question here and the stupid mistake I made they have lot left voicemails.  I never would have fallen for this scam/extortion if not for the fact that I was running constantly to take care of my ill mother and trying to keep myself upright, and unfortunately I closed the account in question after applying for a couple of online payday loans, so I did not have instant access to my records before opening the new acct.  And the bank would not reverse the transaction as I had used my debit card, and like many others have said, they wanted their money now or a warrant would be issued, so I was running scared, and since I authorized the debit, the bank said they could not reverse it or file a claim and refund my money.

Really sucks...but thanks for replying, sorry it took me so long to reply to you, its been a crazy rest of summer and fall.

Funny you mention about these scams being kitchen table deals.  I picture a rundown house in a bad part of town and 3 or 4 extortionists just setting up calls for the next day.  Btw, how do these people get your cell #'s anyway?  Its not like they are listed in a phone book and a lot of people nowadays only have cell phones instead of landlines listed in phone books...makes you wonder how much they pay to get cell #'s...
