- olin replies to A.B. Martin| 2 repliesWell you can go to the website http://nspireoutreach.org and click on donations.. there you can print out a tax receipt if you were.
- olin replies to olinI the driver didn't get to leave you one or it blew away in the wind you can go to that site and print one in JPEG or PDF format.
- Totally Agree replies to What???I totally agree with you. I have donated to them many times. So what if they DO make a little money off of me. It couldn't possibly be very much after they pay for all the gas they must use to drive all over the place picking up stuff. Even if it proved to be some sort of scam, i would not feel ripped off because this is stuff i wanted to get rid of anyway. I hope my "gently used items" will make someone else happy. I am blessed beyond measure and do not begrudge anyone if they are making a little money from my things.
- G Lady replies to NumberBoyHere is another # to add to the list, they said they have one in Charlotte, NC
704-441-8729 - Oscar replies to Avid Donor| 6 repliesI work for AmericanKidney Services but I am quitting today. The people who call you from AKS asking for donations get paid a commission based on the number of houses the truck driver can pick items up from. I have to get 35 pickups in one day in order to get paid $2.50 per pickup. I spent 4 hours a night for the last week calling people to leave stuff out for the driver to pickup today. Well, this afternoon, 3 of my houses / customers called me to say their stuff had not been picked up yet. I called the office at AKS to find out if th edriver was running late. The office would not tell me. Even though I am an employee and my clients were askingwere the donation truck was, the office would not tell me. They told me I had to call the client back and that the client would have to call the office directly. Well what client is going to call the AKS office after they have already called me to complain??? Most of the missed pickups will just drive their stuff to a local goodwill or church drive. In the meantime, because the driver did not pick up the items in front of my clients' houses, I will not get paid.
The only charity I would trust to come pick up items from your home is the Salvation Army. Any one else is just milking you for free stuff that they can sell to make money off of. AKS and Nspire spend a ton of money on gas driving around Atlanta, they don't pay their employees crap for their time, and only 10% of what they earn goes back to the charity. Look up American Kidney Services on the Better Business Bureau. BBB rates them an F!!!!! - Oscar replies to olinThe website you listed is not for Nspire. Whoever pointed out that you can't find Nspire or American Kidney services on Guidestar is absolutely right. Also note that the United Way does not consider either of these organizations to be legitimate non-profits.
- Marj replies to Peter PannThey are legit, they do call for clothes and other donations and sale their donations for a very low price to help others. Much better than Goodwill that gets donations and then turns around and sales their donations for a ridiculous price, you could probably buy cheaper at Walmart.
- kim southardThese people call night and day a couple times a week.. We have told them we are not interested but they keep calling...We do not know how they got our number but want the calls to stop!!! We've asked them to take us off their call list to no avail...Help!!!!
- Caller: N'Spire
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- rick ward replies to Peter PannThey are not legit, they call to collect clothes to sell over-seas, by the pound for profit. They are taking away from local charities. Who are non-profit, who help those in need. They are just like all the red and beige clothing boxes you see all over. They sell all the clothes over-seas for profit. DO NOT give to these people.
- Stevi replies to xxxThis organization is a big scam. The St. Louis store located on Natural Bridge Blvd. steals items when they are dropped off. They also allow the customers to pay them cash and load there carts, while the employees roll the carts out the side door to the customers cars. They are doing nothing to help these poor kidney patients and their families. My mom donated to them for years and years before she died 2 years ago from kidney failure. They should be prosecuted for what they are doing.
- Stevi replies to OscarOscar, I know you are telling the truth. I too, once worked for them. At that time they had a telemarketing room in the basement of the Natural Bridge store, we were cheated out of our money then and made just a bit over $5.00 an hour The St. Louis store employers, employees are all stealing and doing nothing to help people who are dealing with kidney disease. How can anyone be this dishonest? I hope the FBI gets involved.
- Nap678 replies to Peter PannThe company Is Nspire and yes there is one in Atlanta
- om replies to Oscar| 2 repliesI work for this company and yes, unfortunately there are occasional errors on our behalf. This only accounts for 1 % of the people who say "yes to a donated. The majority of our pickups are successful and if there is ever an error please contact us immediately so that we can resolve it. There was a mixup recently with a previous donor who's items were accidentally picked up. She contacted us at this number and within hours her items were retrieved and returned. IN fact, here is an exact quote from that donor. "Both bags were returned to us on Saturday – much to the relief of our daughter!! The people that you have working with you have demonstrated honesty and integrity which has reinforced our belief in that these qualities exist in most people! Thank you so much. BC" PLEASE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THIS CHARITY. HTTP://WWW.NSPIREOUTREACH.ORG
- Mike replies to Peter Pann| 3 repliesNSPIRE also steals or has towed donation boxes from locations they want. How can an "ethical" ministry do this and still sleep at night. They also give very little and keep over 90% of the profits. Your "donations" are only supporting people who are only interested in linig thier own pockets. Do your homework people before you donate. This is a SCAM in every sence of the word and they hide behind a church to avoid regulations set by the Secretary of State.
- wes replies to RealThis is really good advice and I appreciate your laying it out for the readers of this site. This company raised a lot of red flags for me, mainly because I had never heard of it and I knew there are already several legitimate organizations in my city that help the homeless. I think their marketing, recorded phone calls, and constant calling are just too slick to be believable. In addition, the multitude of "Nspire is great, it helped me, now I have a job etc." comments here do not ring true to me.
I am a big believer in donating what my family doesn't need or use, but would much rather donate to Goodwill or the Salvation Army, where I know what the money they make from selling our discards goes to.
Hope folks will be careful about this one -- they obviously have people working full-time to monitor sites like this and that in itself raises questions. - RGThey called my home and I answered politely, only to thave them hang up on me!
I called back right away and there was no answer.
They called again the next night; same thing...I answered "Hello...Hello...Hello..." andthey hung up!
I called the number on my ID and it rang and rang until a recording finally answered. I left a message to not call us again.
Guess what? They called again on Sunday.
If you aren't going to have the decency to speak, then DON'T CALL.
Now I am pissed-off, too!- Caller: Inspire Outreach
- Mrs. Brown replies to bcYes I have had a bad experience with NSPIRE their customer service is horrible. I donated to this organization twice here in the Atlanta metro area and I will never do it again. I would rather take my donations to a place were I know that the families are actually being helped.
- carrie678-405-2982 Nspire they call every month to get a clothing donation. Wish they would stop calling me. I have already donated, please leave me alone
