    I've been receiving calls from HCA for months now and it's always been a recording "this is not a sales call, call us back, etc." I finally answered the call last week and spoke to an actual person this time with Patients Account Bureau regarding a debt I owed to my doctor's office. At one time I truly did have a debt with them...but it was paid off over a year ago. HCA was calling me at that time as well, but I paid the doctor's office directly to settle the debt. Now over a year later they are calling me saying that I never paid the debt. I told him to verify it with his client, the dr. office, but he said I have to send him a statement from the dr. saying I don't owe them money. The dr. office has no idea why they would be calling me. I haven't sent them anything and they haven't called in almost a week now.

    I started getting calls earlier this week.  The first call was the "This is so and so calling about a very important matter"  The two calls since they have just hung up when they have gotten my voicemail.  They started calling at 8:10am.  I wonder if they know that per the Fair Credit Act they can not call before 9am.

    My $300 is with Piedmont Mountainside, I know I owe it and have been pyaing it down directly to Piedmont, so I am suprised they turned it over....and, this was in Mid March that I went to the ER, not even 90 days past due.

    Has anyone contacted Piedmont or your Dr to tell them what a low life company this is?

    I'm wondering if I should just continue to send them in payments or quit?

    They call constantly, and sometimes leave messages and sometimes don't. we do owe a medical debt, and called the dr's office to work it out directly through them but they told us it had already been turned over. I want to pay off this debt, but if I have to deal with a company like this, I won't be paying anything off. It's a lose, lose situation. Anybody know what I can do about paying the debt through someone else?

    I keep getting phones calls from this number as well. I dont answer it, but there are two women that have called me and left msgs. They dont tell you who they are from or why they are calling, but just their name and number.

    Mr. Carpenter is a NASTY MAN! They can keep calling me for all I care.

    How do I get these jerks to quit calling and harassing me?  I have given them the information needed to get with my insurance company time and time again and they still call me.  Now I am told it is MY responsibility to have my insurance company pay them.  Why after so many months and so many phone calls?  Any idea what I need to do to file a harassment claim against them?  They are mostly very rude, confrontational people.

    I am not paying a thing.  Medical bill payment collections are notoriously incorrect.  I am not going to make double payments on a bill that my insurance is supposed to pick up.  

    So for all of the bill collectors out there...  Find a real job that requires a skillset other than those of a thug.

    why would they send you a detail bill of something you already know about stop stalling and pay and if your not gonna pay just say that don't go asking for bills you truly don't want and when you get them just throw in a pile so they have to call you broke [***] again and say you got the bill you requested where's the money

    medical bills go unpaid because hospitals cant "turn off" their services like the utility companies....medical providers (& their "thugs) file your insurance as courtesy - not requirement. not everyone has the "skillset" to process claims therefore the general public has grown spoiled to having someone else do their work for them..and not everyone is mature enough to pay what is owed...so please, continue to provide us with such entertainment; your logic and excuses are priceless!!!!

    True, but the general public has the right to clear and fair billing practices and not the coded crap thrown out there.  Most medical billing is cryptic to the lay-person, and most billing is inflated due to many factors including insurance companies, doctors, patients, etc.  The medical field has been spoiled by being able to bill whatever they want and however they want.
