It says National Rifle Association but it is a scam ! This is the real NRA's phone number 1 (800) 672-3888 ! They don't change numbers the scam calls are spoofed numbers !

Yes, it is the national Rifle Association.  I was a member and my membership just expired and I'm getting the calls now.  I just called the number and the recorded message said "Thank you for calling the National Rifle Association.  Sorry we missed your call."

I called this number and the answering machine says thank you for calling the "National Rifle Association" and goes on the same some other things.

Received a call but they hung up immediately. Even before I answered it. Called it back it was NRA.  The recording said, "Sorry we missed you...." What?  A recording that says "sorry we missed you?"  What kind of scheme are they cooking up?

It is the National Recovery Association:

I had received calls for more than two months, from a series of 14 numbers, 703-988-6387, 855-238-3478, 855-638-7579, 855-547-6382, 855-701-6943, 855-825-6859, 866-426-3257, 866-427-9582, 877-210-3463, 877-210-3490, 888-224-6462, 888-253-5089, 888-258-7615, and 888-321-9438.  The calls were coming in daily.  My caller ID listed a different one of these numbers every day.

Each one of these numbers is listed on 800notes.com.  Each thread has a discussion / argument about whether the caller was the National Recovery Association or the National Rifle Association.

I had thought that it was the National Recovery Association.  I decided to test my guess.

I wrote a "cease and desist" letter to the address the National Recovery Association lists on its web site.  I put my list of caller ID numbers in the letter.  At the end of the letter, I told them that I had also filed complaints with "the FTC" and the consumer protection office of the Attorney General in the state where I live.

The FTC did send a reply stating that they had made an inquiry.

The National Recovery Association did not reply to me.  However, it's been over a week, and I have not received any calls from any of the numbers on the list I sent, and they haven't tried calling from any other number.

...and during all of this time, I did not send a cease and desist letter to the National Rifle Association - just the National Recovery Association.

This is from the NRA.  I joined the NRA again after several years absence (due to unwanted calls).  The first call I got after rejoining, resulted in my telling the caller that I had quit the NRA before due to unwanted calls, and if they ever called me again, I would leave them forever.  Obviously they don't care.

not sure on what planet in what universe you CLAIM the NRA doesn't solicit members via phone but hate to break it to you YES THEY DO. A THOUSAND TIMES THEY DO.

I answered the phone because a relative is hospitalized in Fairfax, thinking it was a hospital phone number.  Robocall from the NRA, but it isn't the National Rifle Association.  The caller says NRA, but it means the National Recovery Agency, a debt collector and which is a scam.  I was told I owed $500 and that if I didn't pay, the police would arrest me.  I told them I was a retired police officer and to come and get me, because I have no outstanding debt.  I hung up.  These folks are simply criminals.  Even if you are behind on something, don't send money, there won't be a robocall to collect from you.  Just block them.

I get calls from this number, so I just called the number back and it explained it was the national rifle association, not the debt collection agency. I used to be a member of the NRA and they have been calling and calling. I assume to get me ether to donate or re-sign up.

I appreciate the NRA but HATE them also for this constant harassment sh it. It is the main reason I don't bother with them any more.

You would think they would clue in to pissing people off and thus losing members but they evidently don't give much of a crap how many people, even members they [***].

Some one said here you can opt out of the calls, I am going to pursue this and see if I can. I am also going to find other 2A agencies to become a member of as the NRA just pissed me off with the harassment too much.

I have the ringtone on my cell set to silence, it does not make any noise when calls come in that are not already on my address/contact list. Only contact list number can make my phone ring, I set it up that way.

First...I've been a member of the National Rifle Association all of my adult life and have never....NEVER...received a phone call from them!

This is the National Recovery Agency that is calling and posing as the National Rifle Association.  You'll notice that if you call the number back, their answering machine actually says "Thank you for calling the National Rifle Association" but...you can't connect with anyone on that call.  You only get the machine.  This is how they skirt the law to avoid fraud charges against them.

IT IS A COLLECTION AGENCY TRYING TO SPOOF YOU!!!

You don't have to owe bills for these bottom feeder scum bags to start calling you.  IF they can't locate the true debtor, they simply look up those with a similar name and start calling them in hopes of getting lucky.  Even if you convince them that you are not the person they're looking for, the next scum-bag outfit that buys the list of debts will start calling you instead.  And on it goes....

What is needed is federal legislation prohibiting this shady practice but...in the meantime...Buy a Call Blocker and get some peace and quiet.

Oh...and ignore the trolls who insist that this is the National Rifle Association calling.  It is not, nor will it ever be.  They don't do phone solicitations.  Anyone who says otherwise is a bald-faced liar!  Or a democrat....but I repeat myself.
