- Sam Buxbury - Tampa FL| 5 repliesWell, it has started again. The last four days I have received phone calls from the NRA. This is the National
Recovery Agency debt collectors by phone, not the National Rifle Association of America. They seem
to come and go in cycles calling here at work.
I contacted the National Rifle Association at the Member Contact number. I eventually got to the Legal
Department and spoke with a nice person, name is Karl. They are aware of the National Recovery Agency
and the 'spoofing' of the NRA phone number. Action is being pursued, but he couldn't provide details. He
did say it is an ongoing battle.
Oh, and just to send the squishy, touchy-feelie Lib-tards out there into a frothing frenzy, Yes, I am a 25
year member and donor to the National Rifle Association of America.
I'll repeat all this again for the folks out there who want to believe that the real National Rifle Association
is at the root of this misrepresentation. The National Recovery Agency phone callers from whatever
'boiler-room operation', are spoofing your Caller ID function by providing one of the real National Rifle
Association phone numbers as the "DISPLAYED NUMBER", thus masking their origin phone number.
Since the wide spread use of VOIP and ethernet addressed telephony, any caller can transmit any FAKE
Caller ID to your telephone home unit. This is termed 'spoofing'.
Folks, direct your ire at the real root of the problem, it is the National Recovery Agency annoying people,
not the National Rifle Association of America. We don't do that.
Sam - Proud NRAA member and nice old grandfather....- Caller: National Recovery Agency
- Call type: Debt collector
- Sir Bedevere replies to Sam Buxbury - Tampa FL| 1 replySam, thanks for the update on this situation. It's encouraging to hear that the National Rifle Association is pursuing this matter.
- Sam Buxbury - Tampa FL replies to Sir BedevereGood Day, Sir Bedevere!
You are quite welcome! I posted a similar message about a couple of numbers last April (?) or so,
it's been a while. Looks like the scammers have just changed telephone numbers. "Two thumbs Up" for "800Notes", looks like they are effectively exposing the collection agency scammers of the US/World.
Understand, it is far easier and faster for a scammer to switch/change to a new phone number or Internet
Provider, than it is for the National Rifle Association of America to find the scammer and spend precious
dollars bringing legal action against said scammer. And they can't change phone numbers, all the members and associated organizations use it.
This matter affects ALL of us in different ways, but our common theme is that we are targeted by a
scammer, and they don't have the Swinging Testes to at least publish their own phone number.
Also, a very fine and respected organization which defends the Second Amendment to the US
Constitution is wrongly accused by people who won't check things for themselves. The citizens on this
site who virulently respond with automatic damnation of the National Rifle Association of America need
to think for themselves. This knee-jerk Second Amendment hatred is scary.
I found a good reverse number look-up site [http://www.reversephonedetective.com/]. It is VERY handy to have.
Cheers! Y'All take a deep breath and relax. The National Rifle Association is not your enemy. - Sam - nick replies to Gary| 1 replyIf that's the case Gary sue them that is a violation of the fdcpa
- K.This number has called me a lot lately, CID shows Portfolio Recovery Services. I have also gotten calls with CID showing up as NRA however I don't believe them to be the national rifle assoc. More likely National recovery assoc using NRA as the I.D.
- Caller: Portfolio Recovery
- Skids MagurkThis is a group/organization robo calling and spoofing an NRA (National Rifle Association) CID to irritate, frustrate and [***] people for the purpose of discrediting the true National Rifle Association. This number is used by anti-gunners as stated above. You will never get an answer because it is programmed to hang up when a voice comes online.
- Caller: Anti-Handguns Inc.
- Call type: Prank
- J| 1 replyDefinitely the National Rifle Association... They call me EVERY DAY!!!! STOP IT! why did i write my phone number down!
- Caller: National Rifle Association
- Call type: Political call
- SUSANI get these calls at least twice a day. They need to pay for my minutes on my cell!
!- Caller: National Rifle Association
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Kevin replies to Dr Ric| 1 replyWell then Sir, perhaps you should also give up on your 2nd Amendment freedoms and liberties? Perhaps also your 1'st and 4th Amendments as well? Ahhh, maybe just give up the Charter of Freedoms all together. I've never known the NRA to make robo calls and its not an organization who would stoop to that. ANY correspondence from NRA was initiated by me, or the send out letters/mailers.
Perhaps you're unaware that lead b-llets are now being banned? Wow go figure! WHO else will stand in the gap for us with the backing to do so and effectively? John Boehner? John McCain? Prince Harry? Or maybe Nancy?
The NRA can call me any day - anon replies to Barry O| 1 replyWhen I read the newspapers, watch the news, and hear about all of the local and national murders, the national rifle association members commit almost none of them. Why not point the finger at those who are actually committing the murders. They aren't hard to recognize.
- Thia replies to anonWhy not ALL of you post your political comments (and I'm not just pointing fingers at the poster I'm replying to) ON SITES FOR POLITICS? Whether or not this is the NRA or not doesn't give leeway for name calling, back and forth trolling, and basically anything that DOES NOT PERTAIN TO CALLS?
I'm sure I'll get trolled for this, because, omg LOGIC, but such is life. - anon replies to JYou're dumber than dirt. Go back and read the previous posts and see if you can figure it out.
- honeybunny replies to Hum| 1 replyI just called the number back from a landline. It is the NRA. If you press 1 and listen to their information, they then give you the option to remove your number from their call list. Once you do this they tell you federal law gives them 30 days to remove your number but they will make every attempt to do it faster.
- smarter than the average bearit's the national recovery agency. looking for your money. anyone who says it's not is working for them. use *61 to call them back and enter a Homeland security terrorist phone number or the local FBI. let them harrass them! the calls will stop for about 10 days. then you will see a new number calling you. repeat procedure. then maybe have them call back obamacare.
- Caller: NATIONAL RECOVERY AGENCY
- Call type: Debt collector
- Casey replies to jake| 1 replyPlease do your research before you slander the NRA (National Rifle Association) regarding these Robo Calls. Their is a collection agency, National Recovery Agency located in Harrisburg, PA that may be responsible for the calls you are receiving.
This collection agency has a block of numbers that they use., They may also use or block their caller ID. The collection agencies company initials are also NRA..
. . - KTY replies to KevinI, also, just got this call..ID said "Urgent Alert". I did not answer. NRA has called my house using 11 different area codes. I keep a list by the phone. I have no reason to doubt that this is also NRA. This is Not a political statement, just a simple fact..The NRA will
call our phone up to 30 times a week. "Do Not Call" means Nothing to them! (And, Yes..we Do "Bear Arms" & still would without NRA. The government has seen to that..my husband is a Vietnam Vet. He won't ever be without a gun, whether NRA calls or not!) - StaceyCaller ID said URGENT ALERT but no one was on the line when I picked up the phone..
- Caller: URGENT ALERT
- Duke:We receive an unwanted phone call from this number at least once a day.
- Duke:| 2 repliesIt would be best to block their number if possible. They are not looking for anyone who owes money. They are looking for anyone who answers the phone in order to scam them out of money. They have a robo call system that calls millions of phone numbers every day with the purpose of finding someone who will sent them money they don't owe. Don't give them any information they ask for your Social Security Number. Your Social Security number is for Social Security purposes and is not information to be given out to one of those scam artists. Give them no information. These scammers troll these sites and if a poster posts something nice about their scam then you know that is one of the scammers.
- TJ replies to Duke:| 1 replyThey are the National Recovery Agency. YOU are also the National Recovery Agency. Crawl back under your rock.
