- Barry O replies to Dr Ric| 6 repliesIt's the Brady Campaign. They want everyone to know their new slogan. "A rape can last 30 seconds, but a murder lasts forever. Guns are not the answer." Everybody should know it. I'm Barry O and I approve this message.
- Former NRA member replies to Barry OThis is the second time I've seen you post this. You sound like a schill for the brady campaign posting this and promoting that slogan when the other posters have clearly mentioned spoofing in regards to the actual NRA! The real NRA will remove your phone number from their call list when requested.
- jake replies to Barry O| 2 repliesMy motto is " Get your gun, then call 911" Let's see him rape with his [***] blown off, while we both wait for the cops to arrive. When my life and that of my family is at risk, I prefer not to wait that half hour for the cops to arrive while someone kicks in my door and assults us. When in this case, I pull the trigger, I expect it to last forever.
- Yeahsure replies to HumYup, it's all the Kenyan usurpers' fault! And he's a commie and a Nazi and a socialist and stupid and so smart he is taking over the world. All at the same time. And he's coming to your door to take away your guns. The proof is that he hasn't tried to do that. Just shows how devious he is!
- dibbleNational Recovery Agency, which seems to pretend to be the civil rights NRA when it is convienent
- Caller: National Recovery Agency
- Call type: Debt collector
- Mike replies to jake| 1 replyIt is the "NRA" but not the National Rifle Association. I've previous came across a company called National Recovery Associates or something very close to that tied to numbers and calls like this.
- Jeremiah replies to GaryYES IT IS!
- Mr. ZSCAM! It is the National Recovery Agency. They are not looking for anybody who owes them any money. They are looking to dupe some poor soul into sending them money they don't owe. They troll these sites. If anyone posts anything nice about them that is a sign that it is one of their employee's. Buy a loud whistle. I have reported them several times, but after a while they call with a different phone number. It is best not to answer your phone though. I answer it when they call and do not give them any information. I just say please hold on for a moment then I put the phone down and blast loud music. Some of those morons stay on the phone for as long as ten minutes or more before they catch on and finally hang up their phone. It appears they have found a good gimmick by pretending to be the National Rifle Association. Do not become a victim of this scam. Tell them nothing.

- INSHALAI received a call from (703)988-6387 today (a Sunday) at 2:02PM; however, let it go to voicemail as I was unfamiliar with it. There was a message left that contained nothing but white noise. I called back the number about an hour or so later and connected to an automated message claiming to be the NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION, not the abbreviated NRA. The message claimed to be contacting me with an important update; however, I suppose it wasn't important enough to leave me a message. They also gave the option to get more information by pressing "1". I did so from my work phone and it was a scripted, textbook explanation of what the NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION is. I don't trust it. Then I recalled that I received another call from a Virginia number earlier this week. I looked at my phone's history and found (703)939-9558. I called it and discovered it was the SAME automated message. Next time I think I will pick up and question the caller directly.
- Caller: NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION (allegedly)
- Flops and Levis replies to haroldHarold, ya forgot one thing...CLUELESS!!!
- John replies to josayso| 1 replyThe number you said was the National Rifle Association was not in fact and was the credit company, so this was of no value or truth
- crw| 1 replyThis IS the National Rifle Association. They use this number to call members only (or phone numbers that belong or maybe belongED to members). They are calling with "updates" and information. I am shocked to see people saying it's a debt collector. It is NOT. Please stop saying that. My advice, call the number back and you'll hear who it is...they very clearly say "National RIFLE Association". That said, you can opt out of these communications by contacting them and asking them to stop. I believe you can also set your communication preferences when you join or under member preferences on the NRA web site. I agree that they can seem a bit naggy and money grubby at times, but if that's the case it's probably because you haven't been specific about communication options. The 2nd amendment and the entire Constitution and Bill of Rights are under major assault. I don't mind the NRA contacting me about important issues so long as it's fact-based and not mindless conspiracy or fear mongering / FUD (and from experience, it is usually truthful/useful info from NRA on these calls - not some sales pitch or fund drive).

- Elspeth replies to crwScammers regularly "spoof" phone numbers, so yes, it IS very shady collectors and/or scammers calling people. They spoof the number to make it look like it's the National Rifle Association.
- EarlNRA has an 877 number. This is not the NRA I know they do not call on Sundays but these [***] Obama imposters do.
- Tom J replies to Dr RicIn their defense, they do rack up a lot of expenses lobbying for us gun owners, also they do have expensive court cases to support 2nd and 1st amendment rights. Money that when I have it I will donate.
- JoeThe number you are seeing on your caller ID does belong to the NRA and is used for their members updates, however if you call the phone company and have them trace the actual call, you will find out that it is not the NRA but some international company spoofing the number. They will not leave a message and they will hang up if you answer with to young of a voice. I answered the call today as an elderly man and pretended to be confused, that is when they responded to me. I let them go on for a good 10 mins before I hung up. I have since contact the local police and phone company to try and catch these jerks. Ignoring these jerks only hurts others, play the game with them, waste their time.
I don't let the telemarketers go to voice mail any more, I answer the call if I have time to jack with them. The longer you keep a telemarketer on the phone, the less money they make (unless you buy). They are paid for the number of calls they attempt to make in an hour. After doing this a few times, you'll find that they remove your number because it's costing them money. Just don't ever give them your real name or address. My favorite name is Suaq Madik, it's taken some of them a good 5 to 10 mins to figure the joke is on them. :) - Mike SI *JUST received a call from this number, and there was NO ONE on the phone when I picked up. This is NOT the National Rifle Association, readily identify themselves when calling (they have no reason to hide who they are calling from), and are trying to discredit the NRA only because they can do so.
After all, how would YOU feel if you got a call from a number easily identifiable as the NRA and they tried to sell you medications over the Internet??? What if you go a spoofed number indicating the same number as the NRA and they asked you for money to fund their anti-gun propaganda???? Would you BELIEVE IT????
Using various Internet applications, you can EASILY spoof whatever organization's phone number you choose, to call people and create as much havoc as you choose for that organization.
THINK ABOUT IT!!
DO NOT TRUST YOUR CALLER ID!!! If you have ANY questions, CALL your provider, your Insurance company, your pharmacist, your provider for ANY NUMBER of services, simply to verify THEY are the ones who called and NOT someone spoofing their Internet numbers!!
If THEY give you a number to call, DO NOT call that number, rather call the number you have ALREADY been provided in your plan, your documents, or numbers on the back of your insurance ID card!!!!!
Only THEN can you be assured you are talking to the CORRECT folks handling whatever plan or insurance you're already paying for!!!
*IF* you receive an UNSOLICITED CALL, be VERY WARY and DO NOT provide ANY confidential information since they ALREADY HAVE IT if they were LEGIT from your company.
DO NOT become a victim of these [***]!!!!!- Caller: Centreville, VA
- sivadogDid you know that I can send you an email, but the email address that you see, isn't the one that I am sending it from?
Did you know that I can call you, and the caller i.d. number that appears isn't the number that I'm calling from?
It's obvious with these calls that someone would like to demean the NRA.
Secondly, it's obvious that there are those who would like us to use name calling and in fighting, to achieve their goals of divide and conquer.
The day after 9-11-2001, we were able to forget and forgive our differences, and concentrate on a common enemy. Who knows? The same enemy of 9-11 may be involved with these calls? Think about whether or not you would want support from one of these bloggers who you disagree with the most, in the case of another 9-11. Think about whether or not he might want your support in the same instance.
Don't let the common enemy divide and conquer us; but definitely do know who that common enemy is. Think about the answers to this comment that blow the most smoke in opposing what I've said. And wonder why they are blowing all that smoke. - brainhi Am a member of N.R.A. called them using no from my card and 703 988 6387, 703 939 9558 is there their numbers not spoofed. told them what they were doing was not right. And they said that they are non profit and are exempt from dnc list. But they listened to my complaint and they have a do not call list of their own. As a member I asked to be put on list. so if they bother you call them and ask to be put on list.I told them of you're complaints and hope they will change.
