Just received a call from these folks today. It's been a few years since my last call and hopefully this will be it for awhile.  

For folks in North Carolina contact the Consumer Protection Division of the states Attorney Generals office. They actually investigate these things and I have had good results in the past of them getting some of these calls to stopped.

Call but leave no message, not want them to keep callin

Officials in Montgomery County, Maryland, a Washington, DC suburb, are accusing a charity allegedly raising money for police officers with fraud. The Police Protective Fund denies the allegation.

"Just as with every other area of charitable giving, the scam artists have found a way to muddy the waters and divert money away from legitimate law enforcement charities," said Montgomery Executive Douglas M. Duncan.

Duncan says The Police Protective Fund uses telemarketers to raise money for the charity, which is supposed to help police officers. However, he says the fund's tax filings and other documents show it spent most of its budget on fundraising and salaries.

Some of its officials made more than $110,000 a year, while the company used telemarketing firms to solicit donations, according to the documents.

Looked up number said Charlotte, NC  but when I searched further it said New Port Ritchey FL. Multiple calls no messages.

Its been quite a while since these bozos called me but they're back at it again. A supposedly local call.

I saw "Police Protect" on the caller ID so flipped the phone on then off so they got a hang up instead of an answering machine.

Hung up when we answered, got suspious so I thought I would check it out.

Do not want any calls from this Organization please.

Please stop these unwanted calls from calling my house.

solicit phone #( 908)-256-3061    in the USA, SOLICITATION is the name of a crime,inchoate offense .... etc.  Who is in charge of this to make american citizens feel badly because unable to pledge?  This persona of a pretentious man with a deep mean voice knew my name but never told me whom their name.  PROBLEM: IT MAKES THE GOOD POLICE LOOK BAD!

So? What does being a "register VOTER!"  Have to do with anything.  This was obviously not a political call.

I get these calls from 704 area code, and I usually I ignore them but I answered the other day and they said they were calling for pledges for the NC State FOP.   Since the law inforsement is having so much trouble right I said I would pledge 35 dollars, they wanted my pledge right then by debit or credit card, but I told them I didn't give my information out over the phone. I told them I would send a check in the mail, so they sent me a pledge letter in the mail. Now I'm afraid to send it because of all the fraud going on, so I'm trying to find out about them.   There is another number on the paper they sent   1-888-310-8300.  Does anyone know how I could find out if this is the real thing?
