I keep recieving calls from Chase auto finance! My payment was due on the first but the the first fell on a saturday.. oops one second they are calling me again... Wow it makes no sense to be calling so early I told them 2 times yesterday that my payment was sent it is now the 6th.. The mail man picked up the payment in the mail on the 3rd.. I never have been late before and always wondered why they keep calling.. They say they have to call the computer generated calling after the 1st day late for my account! I never had anything like this before!

I remember when my name was not all the car payment. I called them to see if I was current on the car bill. They did not want to tell me because my name was not on the account. They called to speak to my husband one day. My husband was in Iraq. I asked can I help you. They wanted to speak to him but I was like he is not here he is deployed. Well, then the lady asked was I the wife? I said, yes I am. She started getting loud with me about the payment. She said she was going to tell my husbands commanding officer. I told her go ahead and do that and have a nice day. She said you do not care if I call him? I then hung up in her face because I was displeased with that tone she used! I emailed my husband and asked what happen to the payment. He explained he was busy that month. I paid my note three months in advance and evey month pay just like I would do. We are paid in full and they asked would we like to get another car loan. We laughed and was like no thanks.

Oh yes. I got into it with them and told them to stop calling my husband's work. They told me that because I am late (I am...trying to catch up but I pay on no later than day 29 every month) my account is in "jeopardy" and I may be in violation of my contract. I ask them what that means and he said he couldn't tell me..he didn't have my contract in front of him but it could include reposession. I laughed and said you are getting your money every 30 days, there is NO way you will repo. And I will not be able to pay earlier due to my finances, but I will pay on day 26 this month. I said until you can tell me what the consequences are for paying late (other than late fees) I think we're done here.

I just got a call from this #, my phone number has only been mine for a few months.  I do not have an auto loan through chase, never have had any loans through them.  It seems like this is for the previous person who had this number.   Sounds like, from the comments here, they won't back down even if I do answer.

Just would not stop calling.  I refused to answer the call because I did not know who it was and I did not want to talk to a telemarketer.  They were calling my cell phone using my minutes.

Numerous calls that are recordings asking me to call for account information.  I do not have an account with Chase.  When I call the recording asks for my Social Security number.

leave me and my cell phone alone
Got two calls first thing this morning....from 713.216.0248. They did not leave messages. I do not have any accounts with Chase. Maybe they just call random cell phone numbers? I am on the do not call list as well.

    I'm movin' to India!
It's Chase car finance.  I think I'm falling in love with them, they call so much!  If Chase saved the money on these creeps and waived a service fee or something, maybe they'd get paid back faster.  Did that bank just get a lot of money for "federal bail out"?  Apparently Chase is spending it by supporting workers outside of the USA by paying them to harrass US citizens.  Our tax dollars at work (while we can't get jobs to pay our car payments).

Maybe we should move to India so the USA can give us jobs so that we won't be lat eon our car payments?

not really they can get the car whenever they want... you sign a contract if you are past due you could loose the car, they just choose to give you 3 months...

It's Chase Auto Finance and if you have an automotive loan with them you're probably ten or more days late.  They will call and call and call, sometimes two to three times in the same hour.  Very, very annoying and I will never do business with them again!

I get calls from this # all the time and I am never behind on payments, they just won't stop calling. First it was for a survey, then on how the dealerships service was and now they just want to call and call. It's really a pain!

I started getting calls on the weekend. Never got a call from here before, all of a sudden its 10x a day. I answer the phone, and then get put on hold. First few times I hung up because I was on hold for 5-10 minutes. Once I finally get a rep, they ask me "who is this"...like I called them! The call wasn't even for me!!! I have no accounts with them!! The calls stopped about a week, then started again!

    Numbers are 601-221-2234 and 713-216-0248

They call me all day at work, which has got to stop!  I'm getting them every half hour and my boss also has my line on her phone and of course gets these calls.  I don't know what to do.  I'm only a week late on the payment!

Under the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.

Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.

This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc.  NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls.  In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc.  Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.

    David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors.  Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call.  Judge Davis wrote;

[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.

Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.

So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?

    1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
    2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
    3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

    1) TJ and Stooopid- How much do you get paid as telemarketers? Don't tell me you live within your means, and don't try the BS that collections is a "public service" that allows others to get their loans.  Shame on you if you are not looking for new jobs.  I happen to know several people who are behind on unsecured debt, and wouldn't be if it were not for the unethical practices of these credit companies.  The 0% cards that will consolidate all your debt, and you recieve the bill 31 days later, raising the monthly payment by 100% or more. Your work is part of the problem.  These companies need to learn that they are not omnipotent.

    2) Sue these companies in your local small claims court. Really. It will cost you $50 or so, and you can collect $1000 for every harrassing call.  This is my understanding. If anyone knows different, please post your experience.  To get around the limit, you can file multiple suits for separate instances.  These companies are proactive, you need to be, too.  This is not unethical, you made an agreement, and they changed it on you in an unfair way, however legal.  What IS illegal is harrassing you, and I don't think judges will have much patience with that in this climate.

    Fedup!
I'm also getting over 10 calls a day from Chase!  My payment was due yesterday and they've already started calling me today!  Isn't that considered harrassment!  It's horrible to get that many calls a day!  Last month I was 5 days late...went to their bank and paid in cash and I still got 4 calls afterwards!  Amazing!
