The FDCPA clearly prohibits debt collectors from calling you with excessive frequency, or at any unusual time or place that is known or should be known to be inconvenient for you. Therefore, it is very important that, if you receive collection calls at a time or place that is inconvenient, you communicate this problem to the collection caller. The collector then has a legal responsibility not to contact you during those times or at those places. Your request does not have to be in writing to be effective. Collectors must obey your verbal request not to be contacted at certain times. However, you must be prepared to offer times when you are available to speak to the collector. Remember that communication is the best way to resolve collection matters.

Fair Debt Collections Processing Act: § 806. Harassment or abuse - Causing a telephone to ring or engaging any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at the called number. (NOT ALLOWED) previous poster indicating a debt collector can call and harass as often as would like is incorrect and should look into or practice law before posting such ridiculous unhelpful comments to people!!  Clearly must be one of them...

Thank you to everyone who has posted on this page.  You guys made me laugh out loud and I really needed a good laugh on this Monday morning.  I NEVER respond to numbers I don't know, so they can dial until their fingers fall off.  I refuse to let some debt collector add to my existing stress about paying my bills in the first place.

I answered and this was Chase Auto Finance for a loan I was late on. I traded in my car and the dealership hasn't paid it off yet so the loan is 16 days late. She asked me to give them the name and phone number of the dealership as well as the salesman's name. If she wasn't so rude when I answered I may have provided that information but now she will need to look it up herself. She also asked me to confirm my address after stating "I know you don't have the car anymore..." to which I answered "what you have on file is correct". GLAD to be rid of Chase. They are awful! And will harass if the payment is as little as 3 days late. Good riddance.

Hi they can legally repo your car being even just 1 day late. The costs associated with a repo don't make it simple for them to do that so they'll usually wait but I had a car repoed after 4 days because my account lady was a bi#@h and I had to bring my car payments current in order to get the car back. But to answer your question, they can legally repo your car any time after the due date. The 30 days isn't a timeline for them to repo, it's more so related to when your credit will be dinged for a late payment.

Just spoke with Chase and this is a scam number! It is not Chase Auto or JP Morgan.  This scammer was asking me for my SSN and home address.  BEWARE!

Its Chase Auto Finance... They call because YOU owe them money and its far past due.  You want it to stop?  Be a responsible adult and pay your car loan, its not rocket science.  If you can't pay it then you shouldn't have bought a car that you can't afford, think about that.  BOOM!
