This is a number that is placed through an inmate in a prison. Inmates normally are NOT given permission to call you in the middle of the night. Sure makes a person wonder. The call comes through Global-Tel Link in Texas. This company sucks.

I've also known for this company to give out personal information, however they deny that complaint.

No need to do all the name calling. Many people do not know how the system works  inside prisons.

No, they are not *allowed cell phones.
*It's a collect call, you idiot.

Watch who you call stupid because from the way you type, YOU'RE the idiot.  I think those brain cells were gone before you put your fingers to the keyboard.

    ?
Sounds like they found a new way to scam people. Out of fears that someone you know, or care about might be incarcerated and needs help.
They figure they can use this number because it seems to be official being that it is a working prison number. I'm wondering what happens after you pay for or accept the collect call. Is it someone you know calling for help or a phone scam to bill you per minute?

Has anyone gotten through to them to find it being legit? Other then those that have been using the number to contact people they know are in prison?

Has anyone actually gone through the hoops and had a looong lost friend or family member on the other end in need of help?

Not everyone thinks they know someone in prison but you never know. These days anyone can be locked up. ANYONE. Even Mary poppins. The system is corrupt.

For example, what if you were driving through a town where a crime was commited, and you are driving the same car as the criminal. Mistaken identity and BOOM, your in jail. What if you had to contact someone but all you could do was make a collect call? Then what? This could be legit. This could be Bs.

Everyone has that fear in the back of their mind that someone they care about could be in jail.
They know this and are now taking full advantage of our good nature.
    Not cool...

called back the global tel link # that called me and they show no record of my number being called.  Several hours later when I'm sleeping (work nights), I have 30 missed calls from them.  This is ridiculous along with the name calling comments...let's just grow up!

Getting calls from this number daily, multiple times.  Ten, fifteen calls a day. Some minutes apart.  I never answer and will be contacting my carrier today for instructions on blocking.

Seems like your brain cells were already lost.  Before you call someone else stupid, maybe you should check your spelling first.  It SHOULD have said "You're really stupid instead of YOUR really stupid.  You should have spelled it "ALLOWED" instead of "ALOUD"  They sound alike but have totally different meanings.  Look 'em up. NOW who's stupid?  I'm expecting an asinine (look that up too) comment from you but guess who won't see it.  ME!!!  I only come to this site to check out numbers from my called ID.

I get calls from this #.  The person calling is in prison in NC.  This is GTL and I get the same message as everyone else if I don't have money in the GTL acct.  You must deposit $25 or $50 to your account.  The calls are $3.40 each so it doesn't take long to use up $25, then you start getting that message again.  They must let the inmates call as many times as they want (for their share of the $3,40 per call) because this inmate calls as many as seven times a day.  I either let it ring or pick up the phone and hang up.
