Got a call from this number today.  The guy said he worked for some law office and then continued to say that he was trying to contact my neighbor but didn't have her phone number.  When asked what it was about he said it was a private matter regarding her property.  I told him I wasn't comfortable giving out any info to him and then he got pushy and told me I was being a bad neighbor.  Very weird.  Since when do debt collectors have information about your neighbors.  Kind of creepy.

That's no mistake.  Get the info about who you spoke with and who they are, then make a formal complaint to the California Bar.  You have to file against a specific attorney.  Make sure who you were talking to.  If it's just another scumball collector, then file a complaint with the agency that regulates collection agencies in your state.

You did good!  The trick is to get them to STOP.

Complain to the California Bar.  Even if nothing happens, he'll be up to his neck in paperwork.  Also, make sure Barnes really has a law firm.

a man name mr bass and a man name chris called tanesha and my self about a debt saying they will take money any way they can rude people they talked so bad to me and upset everyone around me that day they ask me if i was a good mother i would get the money.

Well I guess it's time for another consumer lawsuit.  These (so called) debt collectors should read the fair California Debt Collectors Act.  I will give this information to my lawyer.

Got a call from this number for a debt that is not mine, I am going to turn them in and file harassment charges.

This guy calls my unlisted home number from Barnes Law Office and probes to ask questions on a personal acquaintance friend of mine.  I told the guy on the phone that he could Google this person he was asking about and get more info than I can provide.  He proceeded to ask more info on how to reach this person and how long I knew of this person.... I told him I was not going to answer any questions, especially on the phone. I asked him how he got my unlisted number... he said they have unlimited databases bla bla bla...
He simply would not let up and I dismissed the conversation. He then tried to sneak on one last question and I told him to figure it out himself.  I had my laptop on during this call and I wished I plugged in the number prior to answering... if you can do this... then you can at  least not answer the phone.

I just called this phone number from myt blocked number, the number is indeed from curtos O. Barned Law firm, there is an automated message, in one oat of the message it asks the caller to enter their NINE DIGIT SS NUMBER...?  What...????  This is highly illegal and I will be filing a complaint.

My sister got a call from this [***] today. All he wanted was a SS number... He would not give up. She even called the cops and they said there was nothing they could do. Weird that a company can operate with all of these complaints... Is anyone out there truly helping us?

They called my in- laws today looking for my husband. My father in- law took the lawyers phone # and called me immediately. My husband is not home so I called them. I spoke with a Mr. Layver. He told me that my husband took out a loan for $15,000 in 2006 for a recreational vehicle and did not make payments. He said that we had to pay him. He knew everything about my husband and his family but he had the social wrong. He than asked what his social was. I told him over my dead body. He asked if we could conference in my father in-law to verify that my husband did not have a brother with the same name as him. My father in- law was so insulted that this jerk would think that they would name both of their kids the exact same name. My father in- law ripped him a new [***]. We both tore into him. The guy finally apologized and said he would never bother me again.

This is defintely from Curtis Barnes. The people calling are NOT lawyers themselves, just run of the mill collectors. Dont let them scare you with their "legal action" talk.

They called my cell phone, asking for my father. They asked for him by his name and claimed that someone had referenced them as their brother-in-law with an attorney's office. Not only do we not know the name, we have no idea who the person is, nor do we have ANY family in CA. We live in UT. When I told them that they quickly hung up before I could ask them any questions.

I got a call from these guys today about an HSBC account that I paid off months ago. I have the return receipt from the PO, the letter saying the debt was settled, the bank verified the check was cashed but they still called to threaten to sue me if I didn't pay. How long must I continue to be bothered to do the banks job for them?

So i got a phone call from this lawyer looking for my x-inlaws, it was an attorney office looking for him.  Because they were conducting a prelimanry background inspection.  I then proceeded to ask what that ment, and there was noexplaination of what that is done for.  So when I got home I imidiatley got on the web and typed in the information of the phone number that came up on my caller id, which is not the number they gave me .And low and behold i find other people have been contacted by the same people.
I was told it was the law office of kurtis barns/ Mrs. santoyo.

man claimed to be from law office said do you know who i am i said yes it says barnes Law, he was asking for my daughter cause her name was somehow connected to an old boyfriend the info that they had on him was 3 years before she ever met him his job info, last time i told him the address he had for her ex boyfriend was correct and i told them to contact him not my daughter. this time i was annoyed this is the third time i called he claimed he never did i said i have it on my caller id do you want me to go back and show you were you called before and the date, i then informed him to not call me anymore I dont want him bothering me with calls for someone else. I told him your just a scam and to leave people alone.  and if he doesnt stop i will contact the attorney general and go after him for harrassement. he hung up before i could say anymore

Called asking for a relative, didn't even have her legal name right, the Aunt they asked about died 25 years ago.  So I am pretty sure they don't even have a valid debt they are calling about.  Told him I didn't know how to get a hold of her and tried to get other family's phone numbers to harrass.  I told him not to call back and that I was going to call the FTC and file a complaint got his name and the partner's name he said he was working with.  Said "What kind of family do you have? Maybe you should just try calling your Aunt instead."  Hung up and him then called their 800 number and filed a complaint.  Their 800 number is 1-866-477-8222.  He lied about his name, said they didn't have anyone there by that name, but they found the file and took my number out of their database.  Now I guess on the the CA state bar with a complaint.

they called and just sat there with dogs in the background and then a man's voice......instead of leaving a message they just sat there.............................

A gentlemen called Preston called me looking for my ex-husband that I have been divorced from for 16 years. The kicker is he had my cell phone number, new my married name, and that we had 2 children together. He actually wanted me to give him my childrens phone numbers to call them by the way both of my children are minors. When confronted about my privacy he advised me that he had not invaded my privacy. What it all boils down to is he was wanting to collect a debt. HOW COULD MY PRIVACY NOT BE INVADED WHEN I HAVEN'T BEEN MARRIED TO THIS MAN FOR 16 YEARS. He told me that attorney's offices have a lot of resources.
