Caller left a message for someone with an very unlikely name. Claims to be from a collection agency or law firm. Don't answer it.

Indeed this is collection agency with a whole bunch of shady characters. They are calling me re a debt owed by my recently deceased wife. They have also called her 85 year old Mom in my wife's home town as well as a company i once contracted for.

THis is the second post message! Mr. V Hill informed me that he was in contact with HR where I work! He wanted me to call my mortg. co. and tell them I i was not going to pay for 1 mo. because i had a bill to pay! He also told me that i should go into my 401K and take money out! I have no 401K. He told me that he was going to attach my pay check and put a leian against my house if I did not comply to his request! I told him I do not have the moneys that he wanted me to pay! He said he would so if he could strike a deal! He also said he would take me to court! I told him to go ahead! I just don,t have that kind of money! I,m singel and trying to do the best I can! Ijust fell on some hard times with the way the ecomy is. I,m willing to try to work this out but I can not pay what he says I should have to pay! I,m fed up especially when he called my job! It is a lab phone and not a public one now people know that he called stating that he was a lawyer and it was urgent that i call back asap! And questioned weather I was at work or not! I informed him not to call mae at work at all! I,m tired of him harrassing me since the beginning of Oct.

Mr. Vitil is what he goes by. This man is very agressive and sounds very intimidating!!! Called me at work many times and I lost my job over his callings to my work place!!!

I,m so sorry that you lost you,re job! The thing is that I don,t have a number at work it is a lab phone to take calls about lab work! He called again on Friday! I hung up on him! I,m going to write the co. a letter and tell them to stop calling me . They are a co that bought our debt for pennies on the dollar. I did a little research on my own! I also filed a harrassment claim with ftc. I,m willing to work with them but I do not owe what he says I owe! I want proof of all of this! Not just him saying so! Again I,m sorry for you! Hope thins are better for you!

Constant phone calls and never leaves a message.

I just started getting calls from this company Law C Barnes, I know I owe the debt, I am trying to work out a payment I gave them 150/a week and came said no I said there is no way I can pay it in full 4000.00. So I am going to to tell him to send me in writing stating you will not take my payments and I will take it to an lawyer where I live and show I am willing to pay and this collection agency will not except payment. I think this collection agency will change their mind. I hope so..\

Any advise..

I would send them a payment with a bank certified check.  This way I could see when and at what time this check was cashed.  Keeping this, and all the correspondence and taped conversations in a box will cover your butt in court.  It shows that the company is lying and that you have made these payments forcing the court to take your side.

Unbelievable...My dad just got a call about some woman from Arizona...We're in Pennsylvania and don't even know her.  What's wrong is this guy was just blurting out her name and all her information.  This has to be against the law.

Someone from this phone # keeps calling my house.  I told them the person that they are trying to reach does not live hear.  However they keep calling.  This number fills up my caller ID cause phone number on my call history  to be erased.

Curtis Barnes is very well known in Southern California.  His offices were sued for illegal debt collection practices and I believe it closed and he's working out of another office.  Rumors have him working for Loan Mart and other sleazy companies that give car title loans and who also buy up old debt.  The better business bureau received many complaints and have him listed as out of business, but he's restarted somewhere.
This is a huge list of complaints for harassment and threats toward debtors and people that didn't owe any debt.

Ex workers have also had a laundry list of complaints against him as well.  There is also 2 very nasty reviews for him on yelp and also ex employees stating things about how he does business.
