If it's someone you want to talk to, they'll leave a message. You call back.
If they keep getting answering machine/voice mail, for all they know it could be a dedicated voice mail only line.

Most of these companies buy debts that are past the statute of limitations and try to collect anyway. So the phrase "owes them money" is not entirely correct.

At the time they bought it, it was not a valid debt.

You can download an app that blocks calls and sms messages....that is if they are calling you on your cell phone.  If they call you on your landline then you will need to call your phone provider and ask them to block that number.

They are sneaky, and they are using new tricks every day.. The one you mentioned
is new, but they're also using incomplete numbers, such a 1011, which
is all you see.. I still let them go to voicemail, and if that doesn't
work, I use the call blocking feature which has grown considerably with all the scammers and maggots looking for suckers to fall for
their pitch and threats... If it's a legitimate debt, most companies will always
contact you by mail, in writing.. 99% of these calls come from bottom feeders, who are going back years after the statute of limitations has expired. If you make the mistake of speaking to them, they can go and lie to a judge that they got you to agree to pay, and the statute starts all over.
Now you're legitimately on the hook for the debt...Beware....

I received a call from "LOCAL OFFICE". The number that called is 1-714-495-4807; but when I picked up the phone, they waited approximately 5 seconds and hung up on me without saying ONE word.  When I attempted to call it back, the phone rang ONE time & hung up.  It gets a bit annoying when they call the house 8-10 times a day.

You can file a law suit aganst them, They will be fined and can be forced to pay you compensation for the  harrassment.

been getting these calls and getting sick and tired of it. my neighbor told me to call the state attorney general about these calls

Not true; I've been told that if they are looking  for "John Smith" they will call every Smith they can find.  I have a very common last name, and I get calls for everyone who owes money with that last name from West Texas, Southern Colorado, Eastern Arizona and all over New Mexico.   I've  sued 2 companies that wouldn't stop and kept insisting I was who they were looking for.  Even had one from the hospital the wife works for, doing a collection call with the same last name.  They kept calling until she went to the CFO of Patient Fiancial Services and informed him of our intention to sue if they didn't stop; that's pretty sad, if you ask me.  So you may never have had anything to do with debt, but may still be called because they think you might be who they are looking for.

except when I answer, no one answers me! I have been receiving calls from --4808 daily for weeks - I have ignored them, answered them, AND tried to call them. nothing is working. collection agency; fine. I don't owe any collection agency that I know of and am not 'afraid' of addressing whatever concern they have - I answer the #$$# calls; but never any 'body' on the other end...

Got a call from this number and no answer from there end,so I waited and I could tell it is on an automatic dialer.  I have no bills...so there is no reason for a collection agency to be calling me.  I am supposed to be on the "Do Not Call List", so what can I do about this?  I get tons of calls that I should not get from places trying to sell stuff!  I am tired of these calls.  How do I stop the calls.  I already blocked as many as my phone allows!  Any suggestions to make calls stop?

I called this number back after receiving umteen calls from them and it says the number you dialed has been disconnected.  Call ID say "Business Office".

I have been getting calls from Local Office. My caller ID says 714-495-4808. I have blocked this number but they still call. In a one hour period they called every 15 minutes.

The calls from "Local Office" were an old debt collection agency.  They no longer exist, however the number still bounces around.  It's one of those glitched phone numbers that is trapped in the switches.  All you can do is block it if your provider has that feature.

If you try to answer it, nothing happens.  If you try to call it back, it will report as being disconnected.

At least you get a number to complain about I get "local office" and no number on the caller ID so cant even block it.
