same thing.  I'm in the market for a job and received the call.  As I do have my resume posted on many job boards I thought nothing of it. It was only when I began to research the company that I came across these blogs and put everything together.  Thank you so much for saving me time and aggravation- never mind money.  Lesson learned.

Wow! It's been a month since the last message about this company. I received a call today
(718-888-9428) and they want to meet me next week Tuesday for a management position. I'm glad I decided to look into it before heading out to no mans land in Queens, it would've taken me about 2 hrs to get there. I'm tired of getting all this fake email and calls... be care full people.

Those guys were trying to get me again to interview with them in July after over 6 months of silence from  them.  Those guys must really by ADD to call me again.  They've used the number 718-461-2809

I had feeling this place was a damn scam when a woman named "Sarah" called me from 718.461.2809.. They got my resume from "YahooHotJobs"... It seemed shady to be calling me about some mangerial position due to the fact that I have no experience in insurance what so ever. Thank goodness I researched these people, my interview is suppose to be next week Tuesday, I won't even waste my money and time on these damn ppl.. Its sad how they prey on ppl but I'm glad I'm smart enough to look things up because now-a-days many places are shady and hardly any place can be trusted... Thanks to this site and all the comments.....

I happened to be home today because it's Good Friday and saw a call come up on my TV from Theo Pappas 718-461-2809.  I thought it might be someone from my son's school so I picked up.  The woman said she was calling from The Pappas Group and saw my resume on Monster.com.  I was suspicious because I placed the resume on Monster.com over a month ago and I also work in HR and we don't scour Monster.com looking for resumes.  We only consider resumes sent to us for specific jobs so it seemed suspicious.  I told her I already found another job, but when I got off the phone, I looked the number and company name up online.  Thank goodness for the internet!!!

I went as this was around where I live, it is a waste of time, first of all it a cat-call they have a office full of people that they are interviewing it is a telemarketing scan for ins. They will interview you for about 5 to 10 minutes and state they will call you for another interview if you made the cut.

The Facts:  In California, American Income Life (NILICO's sister company)  is the 51st largest life insurance company out of a total of 341.  (See Exhibit 4b)  http://alturl.com/6qv2x They have 145,871 policies in place.  And they had 1.4 justified complaints per 100,000 policy holders. http://alturl.com/cbufd That's less than big names like Allstate, Hartford, Metlife, and John Hancock.

I responded to an ad on Craig's list for management, and then received an email about 30 minutes later that my resume had been reviewed and that they would like me to come in for an interview, and then gave me some dates and times to choose from. I was also told to set aside about 2 hours if I was chosen to attend their "business meeting" afterwards.  I ultimately found out that it was NILCO.

Here are the telltale problems with this email/process everyone should look out for: (aside from the fact that they allegedly "reviewed" my resume within minutes of receiving it)

1) The email did not have a professional signature with the name of the company, contact numbers or any website information or link. Why? They don't want you to know anything about them until you get there...got forbid you google them and get to a site like this!
2) Why would a company hold a "business meeting" with select candidates the same say as the interview? Why? Recruitment tactic. Get 15 or so people in a room, hype them up and then divide and conquer. If 4 out of 15 candidates sign up, it was worth it to the recruiting manager.
3) The oldest closing technique in the book as any salesman will tell you is to close an appt by offering 2-3 choices of availability. That's fine for your clients, but be weary when a company uses the same tactic to draw you in. It's a deliberate set up.

Unfortunately, many companies are set up on a recruitment/MLM business model where they just keep turning over unsuspecting candidates with the promise of a new career. When in fact, they just keep recruiting and rectruiting because it doesn't cost them any money to continue hiring, but a percentage of new candidates will sell a policy or two (it's just a numbers game) and that's good enough for them.

I was also approached by companies like NAA and Unique Underwriters...it's all the same thing, guys.  Just a bunch of timeshare salesman trying to benefit from your time and effort.

I just heard the message today, it was a lady called Daphne who wanted me to come for a management position. Sounded weird to me because I don't know how she received my resume, I'm not qualified for a management position as well. I was thinking of calling but decided to look up the number on google and found this lol. She said she was from Human Resources.

Same as above.  My email came from Roger Smith.  The first sign for me was that there was no information about the company in the email.  The scary part is people like us put our resumes on trusted job seeking websites, and companies like this now have access to our personal information such as address, phone number, and email.  I am glad I inquired further and found this helpful page.  Thanks to all, and I hope my post can be helpful to the next person down the line who is involved with this shady practice.  Thanks.

I just got a call for an interview. The lady said right out that it was a sales/management position. I Googled their name and found out they were affiliated with NILICO or National Insurance Life Insurance Company. I found this site and a bunch of negative things about this Francisco guy. I don't know if this company is anybetter knowing what everyone said about this phone number. I did not get a call from the number you are all complaining about. Mine is a local number no 1-888 number. My concern is that, is this company any better or should I stay away from this one?

They called me asking me to come in for an interview, I had no idea who the hell they were, but I just kind of went. It's not like There were any other lucrative job offers for a 54 year old laid off bridge painter at the time. I walked in, and saw like 50 other people there. I was about to turn around, and walk out, but I saw this guy leaving the office, discussing some business with apparently a new employee, and it sounded genuine enough, so I stayed. I met with some kid, who was about as old as my youngest son, then i was hurried into a big room, where this other adolescent begins lecturing us on the concepts of success, this was a major turn off. There is a section where they say who ever is not interested in being considered for a position can leave now, I stood up grabbed my things and headed for the door, I was then approached by one of the head managers (the only one in the who place with some true age on their face). He told me dont let the environment fool you, this is a serious company, with very serious, and hard work. I sat back down, and finished out the orientation. I know lots of you are turned off by the process, of them offering you an interview, because it seems too easy, or too good  to be true, but trust me getting the job is not easy at all, and there is a lot of work, there is no scam, there is room for advancement, but you have to work your you know what off to get it. I left the company, after about 8 months, because I was able to get my job back as a bridge painter, I made some very good money with national income, and was able to keepy family afloat because of it. I have nothing but positive things to say about the company, and the opportunity. Of course having someone half my age evaluate my performance, giving me orders was something I had to get used to, but it was an opportunity that came at a time when no one was was offering one. A little advise to some of the higher us though: tone down the theatrics, and revise the hiring process, it can turn away some very qualified, and serious people.

I received a phone call from a female named Tammy this morning about a Manager position.  Stating that she found my resume on Career Builders, and she was still wondering if I was interested in a job because they had a job for me. I was a little excited being that I just moved to New York from California.  Since its hard finding a job, I told my husband something seemed a little off, so I decided to goggle the address and low and behold I get this website, I think I will just stay home and not waste my Time.  Thank You everyone who took time to post about this scam after all these years they are still at it but just switch it up.

Hey, I worked at this Company for a while. It is NOT worth it.  They do everything they can to maximize profits for their managers and cheat people.  They're gonna entice you with how they're gonna train you (which will cost a total of over $400, you have to pay for the class, state exam fees, licensing fees, and this doesn't even count the money you'll waste on food and transportation for the 2 weeks it takes which is roughly $200-$300 more while you WON'T be getting paid and WON'T receiving a conditional reimbursement for another 2 months after you hit all the criteria). Once licensed, you have to go through boot camp and in house training which they will tell you would take another 2 weeks but more likely anywhere from 4-8 weeks and the entire time they're gonna tell you that you are so close to getting your lead pack and making money.  The leads are [***] by the way.  Some are union leads who have jobs but have no clue you're there to sell them life insurance and only let you in because they are under the impression that you're giving them free stuff that they already paid for.  The other leads are usually broke/unemployed parents in the projects who just wanted a free child safety kit.  By the way, the State General Manager Theo Pappas encourages his manages to TAKE the sales from their agents while they are being supervised out in the field.  He says this publicly to his manager (trust me I was in the manager meetings) but would not say this to the agents. All the agent would get out of this are any referrals made and try to sell those (fortunately some managers are kind and let you keep your sales cause they know you're struggling.  You'll be given a certain amount of leads initially and a couple of bumps as you hit certain bonuses. They say the leads are to start you off until you have a strong referral base and you should be self-sufficient after 30 days, but you really have no choice. You'll get anywhere from 70-100 crappy leads and after 30 days you're completely cut-off.  It's why over 90% of the agents leave within 3 months.  They don't even get the chance to recover the money and time they wasted there and only the favorites succeed.

Trust me, I've seen all of this.  If you think you're worth more than this, being a pawn for the managers to make their 6 figure salaries, get a job with a legit salary (cause this is 100% commissions and many weeks you'll blank), and legitimate growth potential (not only are you gonna have to put in 50-60 hours a week just to make sales, but at LEAST another 20 a weeks to recruit more fools to build your agency).  Most people who stick around there are either uneducated with no second options (and yes, they have hired a few felons from the people I've met) or just wasted so much time and money there and are too stubborn to cut their losses.  Before I left I was involved with their interviewing process and realized that they never outright lied to me (with the exception of a few things), they just finessed the truth so much that they build a dream that's unattainable and sell you on it.
